From 2001- 2014, JR would make references to Sting every now and then (particularly during the Invasion angle and during Shelton’s first face run). During the Invasion angle, JR made references to Ric Flair. JR also mentioned Flair during Sable's entrance at Unforgiven 1998, comparing the pop Sable got to what Flair would get if he was making an entrance in the same city (Greensboro, NC). If my memory is working (probably not) wasn’t there a lot of rumours that Flair was going to sign with WWF about then? Like his limo was outside or he was on his way to the show and his lawyer stopped him. I think Wrestling Bios mentioned it during the Unforgiven PPV rundown or in the build up during Reliving The War.

Stu Hart and Larry Hennig have already been mentioned. I know Jesse seemed to like to mention fathers. I wonder if Stu and Larry went to WWF PPVs. I know Larry was at Summerslam 1992, not sure about Stu. He was at 1991. I wonder if WWF had some family members who were wrestlers attend other PPVs on their dime or just the special events. Stu and Helen were at a lot of PPVs that Bret was on. Their presence made the mid Hart Family vs Shawn Michaels/Knights match more watchable with Bobby Heenan riffing on them for almost the entire match. Heenan: (Sees Stu is wearing a jacket with the Boston Bruins logo on the back) Aw! How sweet, he's got Helen's photo on the back of his jacket. Vince: That's the Boston Bruins' logo Brain! Heenan: Stu probably waxed that jacket from the souvenir stand when no one was looking. ----------- Heenan: I got a message for Stu. HEY STU, WAKE UP! Vince: I'd like to see Stu come over here and straighten you out Bobby Heenan! Heenan: That doesn't scare me, it'll take him three hours to get here and we'll be off the air by then.

Scott Steiner mentioning Stone Cold Steve Austin during an early 2000 worked-shoot on Nitro. I actually don't think this was worked. I'm pretty sure he shoots on Flair and got suspended.

Scott Steiner mentioning Stone Cold Steve Austin during an early 2000 worked-shoot on Nitro. I actually don't think this was worked. I'm pretty sure he shoots on Flair and got suspended. Two separate segments. Feb. 2000 - Steiner goes off script and bashes Flair in a promo where he namedrops Austin. Nov. 2000 - Flair, as the on-air authority figure, promises to reveal Steiner's challenger at Starrcade at the end of the night (which ends up being Sid). Steiner, in response, asks if it's going to be someone like Austin or The Rock.

I think Wrestling Bios mentioned it during the Unforgiven PPV rundown or in the build up during Reliving The War. The plan was to have a WWF announcer tease an interview with a "great wrestling champion," who would end up being 10-year-old Reid Flair. Reid had recently won a wrestling tournament that his father skipped a Thunder event to see, resulting in Ric getting sued by WCW. Ric would be there on camera with him but say nothing.

During an 1999 episode of Raw with the Rock and Mick Foley in the ring and Chris Jericho on the stage, the Rock said that several months prior,Chris was wrestling Jevevtud.
Bret made at least one reference to Vince McMahon when he was down in Atlanta.

I'm pretty sure I've seen clips of HBK and Nash basically 2 Sweet each other every week during the war, more of you can probably confirm it though.

In a deep cut, Sting's entry in the 2000 WCW annual lists him as having beaten the likes of Steve Austin.

There was a Scott Steiner promo on Kurt Angle in TNA around 2006 or 7 I wanna say that went like;
"Who have you beaten that I haven't already beaten? John Cena? I beat him. Batista? I beat him. And I don't care how many times Triple H had to sleep with the bosses daughter, I beat him.”
TNA seemed to do this quite a lot around then tho. I remember once when talking about the Dudleys/Team 3D Mike Tenay was listing off companies where they’d held titles and explicitly said WWE.

Jim Cornette's worked shoot promo segment attacking Hogan and WCW in the early days of the attitude era, the showster, the billionaire Ted skits, Patterson and Brisco using Real American...

I remember a RAW that was in Chicago and the fans chanted "CM Punk" during a Stephanie McMahon promo and she made a snide remark in regards to his recent(and decisive) MMA loss.

Punk calling MJF a less-famous Miz on AEW. If we’re doing AEW, Brandi Rhodes had her infamous “Who told you it was open mic night?” promo. Brandi called Dan Lambert a less talented Paul Heyman. To which Lambert responded with, “I prefer Jim Cornette.”

There was a PPV event in 2014 in Chicago where Paul Heyman (in response to CM Punk chants) said: “I’m sorry. He’s at the Chicago Blackhawks playoff game right now.”

In a promo on RAW, Vince Mcmahon told Kevin Nash that he would join his buddy Scott Hall on the unemployment line. This was a week after Hall was fired from the company.

They did one also with Vader I believe. Those were WCW's response to the Billionaire Ted Wrasslin War Room sketches, which were another example of this category with blatant over the top references to Hulk Hogan and Randy Savage. Actually, the Where The Big Boys Play commercial outros came just before the Billionaire Ted skits. They were usually seen on WCWSN. Kurt Angle saying TNA was hiring to Owens and Zayn.
