Word's spreading Punk might have injured his right tricep/elbow and gutted it out Silently leaning over to my 'Punk in AEW checklist' Injured almost immediately? Tick The fights are coming. Oh they're coming! (This is 100% a joke) Wrestlers: stop gutting injuries out. Have you seen how Mick Foley is these days, for f***'s sake. He's better after his hip replacement than he was, I think, but yeah, Mick and before him Terry Funk were walking tales of "be kind to your knees".

Looks like his first big singles match back likely won’t happen until Summerslam then. Can combine two Mania matches and do Rollins-Drew-Zayn, but not sure exactly how you get to that. Double pin finish at Elimination Chamber to determine Rollins' opponent?

I could see a world where they just have Sami and Drew step up and you do some sort of triple threat for the title to open Night 1. Gunther carrying around both belts just creates another Roman situation. I feel like they're a little more disciplined than that right now.

So somehow, the media scrum could have gone even worse? Future directive to all scrums: NO MUFFINS!

Yeah, regardless of how you feel about Punk, it's never good when someone gets injured.
That said, I dunno if dude wants to keep putting himself through this.

Assuming he can fight thru it, him and Seth just needs to be a no DQ garbage brawl. I doubt either man wants to give up this chance if they can help it
Feel bad for Punk tho

If he can keep any personality quirks under control, I wonder if this can solve their commentary problem by having him take over as a play-by-play. ...and now I get this mental image of a Punk/Graves booth.

Yeah, and even if he did, I'm not sure how you could put on even the most overbooked schmozz to ever happen with a guy who has no strength at all in his arm and can't extend his elbow. This isn't even like Cody gutting out a torn pec.

This guy was gone too long and his body turned into glass between 2014 and 2021.

I know people love turning to that whole "fragile mind, fragile body" Mox promo, but like...sorry, some dude tearing his triceps twice and still finishing a match doesn't seem like fragile to me. Aging? Sure.

That’s why I said assuming he can fight thru it. If same injury as last time he’s done and basically out another year. I don’t know if he wants to put his body thru that rehab again to come back and wrestle

So does that mean Seth vs Gunther? I wouldn't. Gunther needs to drop the IC title and it should be Mania. I'd go Seth/Drew/Sami

So does that mean Seth vs Gunther? That was always the original match anyway before Punk came in so I can see them going back to that. Strong case for Rhea/Becky to main event Night 1

I'd go Seth/Drew/Sami It's going to make the Chamber matches interesting because Gunther can't travel. So even if they wanted him to be in that spot, they'd have to do something else - a tournament, battle royal, etc.

Yeah, if he puts it off for ten days he's cutting it fine, 10 weeks he can kiss goodbye to the muscles in that arm.

It's never nice to see anyone injured.
I do think though this was pretty inevitable. Punk isn't and has never been a natural athlete. That's just not been a part or his arsenal that didn't matter because he was so good at everything else. And whilst a lot of wrestlers are going for a lot longer now career wise, reflected in the number of guys in their 40s and still performing at a high level, Punk was never gonna be one of them. He has torn his tricep twice in like 3 dozen matches over 2 years. And whilst I can, and enjoy, give Lunk a kicking over various things, just dude your body is saying it's done. Write a book, creep on young women and enjoy passive income for the rest of your life.
