Such weird timing to bring up AEW's locker room when it feels as if the past couple of months have been really quiet for them in terms of backstage drama?

Seriously...borderline objectively AEW's locker room has seemingly been pretty harmonious before and after CM Punk. CM Punk and AEW were oil and water. Having any more discussion about whose fault that was would be beating the deadest of horses at this point, so I won't go there, but the overwhelming public drama seems to have pretty clearly come and gone with CM Punk.

I'm not a mod, but this is one of those threads where I wonder if we even need it at this point.

I found it funny they introduced him as a 5 time world champion and he mouthed the "5 times" part and kinda looked confused.
Guessing he was hoping they'd count the two AEW ones, the ECW one, and the ROH one.
They really should at least count the AEW ones. They count WCW but they own that I guess.

I don't know if anybody's brought this up but I wonder if they'll make CM Punk the "Host of Wrestlemania" this year. He showed up to the press conference on the panel so by then he should be able to do some non contact segments.

I say put him on commentary to call matches, just so they can further the Drew feud when he wins the WHC and stares down Punk.

If you go back to this first return promo now. The line about "money, not friends."
Did this injury completely shift his character arc now?
Basically getting hurt opened his eyes and he now will be making friends or at least support other babyfaces like he is doing for Cody. And I guess Jey on Monday too?
Is he now completely a pure 100% babyface with no shades of grey?

Is he now completely a pure 100% babyface with no shades of grey? It would be a good way to change his character a bit. Before the injury Punk talked and acted like he's still "The Best in the World", like he's still the same guy as he was in 2012-14 where he was coming off of a 434 day WWE title reign. With the injury maybe they can change up his character with the question of "Is he still the Best in the World"; can he still reclaim his place at the top with a roster full of stronger, faster, more athletic Superstars with just as much hunger as he had over a decade ago. A decade ago, Punk was the underdog, the rebel fighting against "The System". Maybe with this injury you can put him back in that underdog role, except now he's fighting against time and his body's limitations against a crop of young and hungry Superstars.

They should give him a role as one of Cody’s allies agains the Bloodline, since he’s got some animosity towards the Rock, especially when Rock came so close to stealing Cody’s WM spot (I know, Cody gave that up voluntarily, but WWE’s pretending that never happened, so bear with me).

And it'll pop a rating too. There's few draws in this business and CM Punk is definitely one of them. That's the crazy part to me. Was the Rock brought in because CM Punk got hurt? If Punk stays healthy he fights Rollins, so the tag doesn't happen. Was Rock emergency break glass? Or was he always going to be involved with the Main Event? It's all very confusing.

Meltzer’s reporting on it has been that it would be Punk-Rollins, Rock-Roman, and that there would be some type of injury angle to wipe out Cody, who would get his title shot against Roman sometime after Mania.

So just like Punk walking out led to the right outcome at Mania 30, Punk getting injured is potentially leading to the right outcome at mania 40. Another weird parallel between decade anniversary manias
