I hope Punk didn’t wear that shirt whilst meeting Triple H for the first time in 10 years 😬

Im sure it’s mostly about business, but just like with Jade Cargill, there definitely is an element of Triple H going “nanner nanner nanner!” at Tony Khan.

Work. They know what Seth's feelings on Punk are, they know the internet will be all over everything tonight, and this is just all of them working. That’s the thing… It’s ALL a lottery now. Anything anybody says to anyone about anything from the WWE side could end up being a work, because they know the power that the wrestling news media wields in terms of generating discussion. It’s the new kayfabe, the ultimate in gaslighting and gaslighting accessories. It’s frustrating as f***. And the media are in a bind because they can only report what they’re told and then cop all the shit when things go in a different direction.

I really wonder if HHH and Punk can work with eatch other these days or if HHH still deep down hates him. I think Trips still resents Punk and the feeling is mutual, but for Punk, its an opportunity to do the one thing he desparately craves - Headline a Wrestlemania, and by that I mean go on last on day 2. It probably won't happen in Philly, but year after that there is a legit possibility if he doesn't f*** up.
For Papa H, there is the prospect of money to be made and convincing dudes like Starks, Hobbs and Black to jump ship when their contracts with AEW are up.

Wouldn't surprise me if HHH just let go of whatever grudges he had after he almost died. Hunter: "I almost died, but I'm still alive. I'm married to Stephanie McMahon, I've got 3 kids, Ric Flair's not asking me for money anymore, I'm married to Steph, people who went through my NXT consider themselves my wrestling kids, I'm married to Steph, I running WWE, and WWE is red hot. Life is pretty good. Screw having a grudge, that's not good for my heart." Punk: "That dude in the 2003 Corolla once cut me off 4 years ago, his time is coming."

I just remember Rollins tweets to Punk after Punk criticized lots of WWE wrestlers on that Fox show. Rollins was hot at Punk and wanted to seriously fight the guy.
If it’s a work it means Triple H gave Rollins the heads up before tonight.
But I’m putting my money on Rollins is truly hot and locker room is about to get fractured.

It wouldn't surprise me if almost dying made HHH let go of a lot of shit. HHH is in the role of boss now so he has to think outside of himself but yeah I think that heart situation did a number on him along with basically losing NXT as well Keep in mind he was basically about to leave all this behind and then Vince got ousted and he basically went from out the door to fully in the mix

I hate this “new kayfabe” horseshit so damn much. Never once has it or the suggestion of it actually made me want to see where it goes, it’s just irritating pointless fluff getting in the way of coherent storytelling.
Either way between Seth / Punk and whatever Roman is doing and how useless the Raw women’s scene is and the inevitability of most of the Mania title matches the Rumble is looking like a show you’d have to pay me to waste my time watching at this point.

Still think it’s Cody/Roman II at Night II. if they’re hotshotting Punk and Seth at the Runble, who tf would he face at Mania? f***ing Austin?? lol

Having said that, the basis on which Rollins has had a legit beef with Punk is pretty much the same stuff that Punk could not handle being said about him in AEW. So how is this feud going to work without him having a tantrum? I guess creative is a much tighter ship in WWE so there is less chance of things going wrong…. Interesting times ahead.

I heard Shotzi called him a poser and slapped him, though.

I was a massive Punk fan before Brawl Out. Summer of Punk (the ROH version) is still one of my favorite things to rewatch.
I’m not a fan of his anymore but I hope this can at least allow him to leave the business in a proper way.
As a big Young Bucks/Elite fan I’m hoping this will drive some of the hate away from them. Bucks have always been unfairly hated but after brawl out it felt the more aggressive “bad” fans took aim at then and their fans. The hate became way more personal which really sucked.
If this can provide a positive change and finish for Pubk and get some of those fans to ease up I think it’s a win for everyone.

the blank white shirt makes me think this was like a super last minute thing too.
IF there was any setup to this they'd have had CM Punk Chicago shirts available for purchase... even just a simple "THE BEST IS BACK" logo tee.

I wish they went ahead and said "it's all a work" so we can cut all this out of the discussion and get to the main points we need to talk about like
"How do you feel about Punk in WWE?" "How do you think he'll be booked?" "What do you think this says in regards to other superstars joining the company?"
The "is this a work" crap is the worst part of this.
