I don't know how to feel. I feel so many things! It's a very Vince move and I get why Triple H did it. Punk is still a huge star. I hope he doesn't regret it and he still has the support of his locker room, full of Punk's many enemies. But there's no evidence to suggest Punk has changed. The number one thing I'm feeling is that Punk is a giant, massive, whopping big hypocrite.Always has been. Dude bitched and moaned about part timers who had made their names in WWE coming in and taking spots, and then jumped to UFC main cards with absolutely no combat sports experience.

At no point was CM Punk going back to AEW nor was he ever scheduled to be The Devil the company keeps teasing in their MJF storylines. For those who have asked this, it's entirely possible the Seth Rollins stuff was a work. We are told that the Drew McIntyre situation (if even related to Punk) was not a work in that there was no one filming Drew backstage while Rollins was obviously out in front of a live crowd with WWE cameras and lots of fans with their phones. It is being repeated elsewhere that PWInsider.com reported Punk signed a three-year deal. We never reported that number, so if you see it anywhere, it's absolutely incorrect and being attributed to PWInisider for the usual stupid reasons. Punk started multiple fights, and took shots at others while in AEW. Why were people thinking he was gonna be the Devil? By what I've seen, the most of the speculation about that came when people thought some recent Instagram posts Punk's made teased that he was the devil.

I've finally summed up my entire thoughts on this. CM Punk is toxic. While he might have some good morals at heart (LBGTQ+ thing he did) last we checked dude did some super insanely dumb shit at Brawlout which not only hurt fellow wrestlers/coworkers but it also damaged the reputation of an entire company. He's an asshole. He's Tony Stark at the beginning of Iron Man 1 before he was kidnapped and was forced to build that first Iron Man suit. In a cave. Full of scraps. I wish Punk wasn't in WWE, we don't need him, we're good. We got Randy back man, we good. But he's here now. Given that and given who's in charge and how it operates, Punk's going to have to do what they say. Sure, he's probably going to walk out in a year, sure he's probably going to rejoin AEW when his contract is up but for now they need to utilize him as best they can because he's a big name on payroll who can they use to help others. He ain't Ric Flair (thank god). He doesn't have his own show like he did with Collision. He's not calling the shots. He's an employee. He can't pull any of that shit off here because unlike there where TK was damn near climbing into his bed every night, we got a company that's not going to do that. His former worse enemy is his boss now and they just made up days ago. He ain't doing that shit.
Basically...Punk is going to take over Edge's former role. He's that older wrestler who gets premier spots and helps other talent out. We don't got Edge, we got Punk. If he does that I'm good. Use Punk to push new guys, have him cut some promos, boom. I'm fine if that's the case.
Mind you...I'm only talking on screen. Off-screen, like that Ryan Satin stuff, dude can kick rocks. I don't wanna hear about CM Punk's camp because they're still going to get these jokes. I don't wanna hear about Ace Steel because f*** Ace Steel. I don't wanna hear about CM Punk at an airport because I don't care. Keep that off screen shit away from me. You on the payroll tho? You on screen? Cool, you gonna be pinned by some new dudes.
CM Punk vs Dominik Mysterio at Summerslam 2024 for the Intercontinental Title. Book it WWE. Give Dom the W.

we are told that Punk was "amazing" with his dealings with Impact's Scott D'Amore and Lou D'Angeli during discussions. I remember similar language used prior to Punk's return to AEW. It's mad how the wrestling media when stanning for Punk or following the directions of his friends in high places inadvertently make Punk sound like a spoiled kindergartener being praised by his stressed out Liane Cartman-like mother. "Oh my little Phillip was simply amazing during the boring business meeting! It went on for an hour and he sat and listened, only flipping the table over twice!"

I love when Punk news stories drop lines like these This one I actually believe. He would be a huge get for TNA and let’s face it…they’re just one outburst and firing away from getting him. Don’t burn the bridge to his inevitable last resort. I believe it too, I just find it funny when reports are randomly like "they realized Punk would make so much money and were so happy for him for making all that money. "

" I think it was more they realized they couldn’t compete if WWE really came to the table. And they would like it to be known by everyone how much they would like to be in the running again when this run blows up too.

Punk has to know that this is IT for him, right? Completely unearned second chance, and if he f***s up here, WWE can cut his arse with no hesitation and that’s him done in mainstream North American wrestling and his legacy is completely in the mud once and for all.
He needs this more than WWE need him.

Just remember who TKO trotted out for their last big UFC PPV. Those are now the people Phil works for. Can't wait to see his progressive t-shirts now.

the blank white shirt makes me think this was like a super last minute thing too. IF there was any setup to this they'd have had CM Punk Chicago shirts available for purchase... even just a simple "THE BEST IS BACK" logo tee. It would not surprise me in the least if he got to the arena via Taxi from Lake View well after the show had started.

I will say—it was fairly obvious when WWE started to reference him that there was a good chance he’d be back. Having to follow SRS’s constant reports on the subject, rather than just letting the f***ing thing play out, has to be absolutely exhausting.
I don’t know if he and others like Hausman were being dishonest or if they played along for clicks, but what a useless news cycle.

I seriously resent you for not putting me over three years ago when you should have. That would have been best for business but you had to f***ing come in and squash it," wrestling is krazy

Phil should change his ring name because he really isn't Punk. There's not a corporation or CEO he doesn't love, even if they fired him on his wedding day.
Given his LGBT support I'm sure he's struck a deal where he won't be going to Saudi Arabia to do some sports washing. Although he'll probably be injured, suspended or fired by the next show there anyway.
I'm guessing he's not legally allowed to talk about aew either which is going to leave an elephant in the room.

I'm a little reminded of when Johnny Rotten of the Sex Pistols did those adverts for Country Life Butter.

This is just hilarious
Just over a year ago he cut an entire promo talking about how WWE isn't even wrestling
Also for some reason I am so distracted by this. Phil, that wristwatch is enormous. Take it off
