I’m more surprised from WWEs POV. They really didn’t need Punk. Is there going to be a massive jump in what is already a good set of business numbers to make it worth bringing him in? When AEW did it I got the reasons behind it even if Im not a fan of the guy personally (In-Ring the guy is as good as he thinks he is obviously)

As for Punk himself, I’m not surprised in the slightest. He’s already shown himself to be everything HHH said about him in that well known interview segment so him showing up to work for a company that he ended a decades long friendship over because said friend visited people backstage tracks

I mean Punk is absolutely going to move numbers merch wise at least. Absolutely no one is gonna dispute that. As for ratings that remains to be seen, but since he is listed as part of the RAW roster I would fully expect him to pop a rating at least once on Monday.

The feeling I get is reminiscent of 2010’s TNA. Tony does seem intent on trying to get WWE to acknowledge him, the few times they’ve even mentioned the existence of another promotion it’s been in an entirely snide, dismissive manner. And that actually does seem to contribute to Tony’s ever increasing mental instability , “dammit, notice me senpai!” And yes, trips has made some deliberate moves to rub it in, probably just waiting to see what desperate screw up Tony makes next.

Edit: on that note, I suspect MJF, Jericho, and Omega are on Trips to do list. He’s definitely been eyeing up MJF, hasn’t been shy about that. Jericho has been outspoken that he wants to cap his career with anHOF induction, I can’t see Trips having any problem with making that happen.Omega is trickier, he’s in a very sweet position, but he’s also been indicating he is feeling the aches and pains, an offer of even better money and a much lighter schedule could be in the works.,

-Fightful was told on November 19 that CM Punk and Triple H had a very productive, hour-long conversation that mended fences between the two.

-Triple H confirmed Fightful's previous reports that talks had not happened between the two sides until rumors heavily died down, and it actually didn't look like a deal was happening. WWE sources say the deal came together quickly and a contract wasn’t signed as of Saturday AM

-Punk had told select people close to him that the return was happening.

-Minutes before Punk appeared, a section of backstage was cleared out, but Punk was seen in plain sight. We're told that Triple H took over producing the show himself at that point, called for the copyright graphic, and then also personally called for CM Punk's music to hit

-Producers, referees, staff, talent, and even head writers on the creative team were not told.

-Triple H, Bruce Prichard and Michael Hayes needed to discuss a change to the main event, but we weren't told specifically if that was Punk related.

-Main event talent being upset, there are numerous talent on the roster in general upset, just as there are some excited, curious and about every emotion. Talent were pulled aside before the WarGames match and told that CM Punk would be returning at the conclusion of the show.

-At least one talent claimed legitimately to be upset by the return of Punk

-There was one top talent that told Fightful that they understood the surprise aspect of the situation, but felt like Triple H could lose some trust among many people that he worked to build it with.

Didn't they keep Gail around for like six months after that and keep trying to get her to return?

Don't know about wanting her back but yes they made her sit out the rest of her contract.

Had she requested her release without making a public spectacle of it they probably would have granted it.
