I think heel QT has been great. He just comes off like a scumbag on the screen. Everything that I have read has stated he did a great job in Mexico. I could see him helping out BTS in NXT.

I find this hilarious since there has been so much discourse lately on AEW moving away from their workrate roots towards more sports entertainment/storytelling vibes.

I actually believe Hausman to an extent. To me, even at the workrate side, much like New Japan there are stories told, but you have to be able to carry the story in the ring and with your body language. I actually think that's fine as you need to differentiate yourself from WWE, and a big thing for AEW has always been that you get more creative freedom. Not that they didn't have that the last year or so, but it did feel like AEW got away from its roots where no matter the angle everybody was intertwined

He’s almost 40 and has been given a lot of chances and a lot of exposure in AEW. If it hasn’t happened now, I’m afraid I’ve got some Bad News…

Perhaps its a course correction that started last week after the online criticism about the sport entertainment stuff.

QT must have been smoking Mexico's finest these past months

With QT saying they are moving in a new direction and now this report of being more similar to New Japan, it signals what is going to happen going forward not what has been happening the last few months.

I just think it's really beautiful in a climate of so many movements back and forth between companies of big names and potential futures, where some people even try to make a case for Pillman Jr, there's this one guy walking away who is just in every way clearly not worth the spot he thinks he should have and nobody is willing to seem like a clown by stretching the truth to make that happen. Nobody is gonna go out on a limb and hype up the signing of QT Marshall like that. Nobody wants this. It's a guy who can finally ground the discourse because nobody can make that claim. You'd be too embarrassed to make a sockpuppet account to hide behind if that sock had to open with "AEW's losing a huge star, WWE is going to push QT to the moon and it's another massive L for Tony Khan" you couldn't f***ing do it.

I actually think AEW used QT how he should have been used on TV, mainly a low card heel who would make an ass of himself and put over other more talented people.

The more I think about it, the more I think it's more "you're gonna get over in the ring" type of deal.

This is literally the new dumpster fire I'm addicted to. It's filling the AEW/Punk drama void for me. QT, a guy that couldn't even get pushed in a Cornette booked ROH, thinking he's weekly TV worthy. The fascinating angle for me is that like. QT did it. QT got the ultimate spot. Here you've got this journeyman who never broke through to anything, but he got in tight with a guy, opened up a school, got a backstage job, and had a steady paycheck without needing to f*** up his body. The respect of his co-workers and his boss, likely a spot for as long as he could want it. All he's gotta do is have ideas and give advice, suck down catering, and then go home. The post-career job security wrestlers far more successful and more years in better paying promotions will trip over themselves for. Taking a gamble on yourself blah blah pride whatever but like it's not gambling to put all your money down at a roulette table and then vomit on the wheel. He's walking away from the sort of life-after-the-ring gig that has kept some people alive. For years I've said Nick Aldis's biggest problem is that nobody ever went and told him "But dude, you're Nick Aldis". I think with Aldis stepping away from Billy Pumpkins and taking a figurehead job in WWE, the new Nick Aldis is about to be QT Marshall.

I find this hilarious since there has been so much discourse lately on AEW moving away from their workrate roots towards more sports entertainment/storytelling vibes. And my favorite, the constant idea that "NJPW style" goes against the idea of "storytelling", nevermind that NJPW had usually done a lot of the strongest storytelling in the industry. All because to many people "storytelling" apparently only means long in-ring promos and skits that end with someone staring off-camera.

I think it would be a stretch for QT Marshall to be a star (as in decently high card act with good TV time) in Impact, much less WWE or AEW.
Being a behind the scenes guy and occasional jobber on TV seems like a good spot for him but if he has grander ambitions and thinks he can reach them more power to him for going for it rather than settling.
