Will this be the year I get my dream Rumble where we don't get a single elimination until all 30 men are in the ring? Mine is that the the last two guys in the ring eliminate each other before 30 enters and a heel walks out at 30 already having won

Leaving out 88 and 89 since realistically those are the answers as it wasn't this iconic main event thing yet and felt like a bit of a glorified TV battle royal who has been the most shocking Rumble winner? There's never been an absolutely super shocking winner (Santino in 2011 came close) so I guess it's just a case of times when someone who wasn't your main prediction going in won. In hindsight they had been building Benoit up on TV as a potential winner but at the time I remember being quite shocked that Goldberg didn't win in 04. I was sure they were going to have him win and go after Brock's title at Mania. I guess I hadn't heard the rumors about him leaving the company or Eddie getting the title so soon. Judging by how shocked I'd have been before the show Cena in 08 is probably the answer since no one expected him to be there but once he did show up he had to win. In 1997 all signs clearly pointed to Brett, surprised Stone Cold won. In 1999 all signs pointed to Stone Cold, but I guess McMahon screwing him over isnโt much a surprise. In 2008 it was between Taker and HHH, no one had a clue Cena was coming back. In 2017 no one had a clue, Taker, Brock, and Goldberg were the prominent features. I remember a surprise Samoa Joe debut is what people were hoping for. Instead it was Roman at #30 and at that point everyone thought it would be him. Orton was genuinely a surprise. EDIT: 2017 reminded me of something, I think 1993 was in a similar boat. I donโt think anyone had a clue, Yokozuna was doing squash matches but not billed as a main eventer yet. I donโt recall who was a favorite, if there even was one. Heading into the 93 Rumble I would say Randy Savage. I remember hoping Savage would win so we could get him vs Hart at WM9.

Poor Gunther, heโs going to show up on Sunday and wonder why the stadium is completely empty

Poor Gunther, heโs going to show up on Sunday and wonder why the stadium is completely empty Iโd rather just book a second Rumble on the Sunday than tell Gunther to his face that he got the day wrong.

The lack of names announced is making me concerned that The Rock will be one of the surprises.

Hogan being in the Rumble would be both insane and memorable.

Hogan being in the Rumble would be both insane and memorable. You know what I love? When we spend literally years saying someone is a notorious liar and not to believe a damn word he says, yet the second he says โI got one more in meโ, people get the nervous sweats. Like, what are we doing here? Vince at his most senile never booked Hogan for a match after 2007, no matter how hard Saudi Arabia probably begged him. Yet weโre expecting with Vince out of writing power, for Triple H to f***inโ book him in a Rumble in 2024? I donโt like being harsh on you guys, but this needs it, USE YOUR BRAINS.

I meant insane in a good way, a Hogan cameo would be fun a la Piper in 08.

Hulk and Gunther are the last two in the ring. Hogan calls for the test of strength...it goes on for over an hour. Hulk has the upper hand, Gunther has the upper hand! They cross cross the ring! Hogan gets him in a headlock. Then at 12:05AM, Sunday morning, Hogan passes the torch and lets Gunther throw him out. On that Sunday, Gunther's promise becomes truth as he wins the Royal Rumble.

I very much doubt Hogan is going to turn up. Like most Tampeรฑos, dude is going to stay well away from the Trop.

Taking a page from 2K, The Rumble will now be moved to Sunday to account for GUNTHER's massive f***ing cock and balls

Trying to decide if I want to watch the show or not. Don't care about either of the non-Rumble matches and while I am in the mood for the Rumbles themselves, the men's match kind of exists in this state where there are three possible winners between Punk, Cody, and Rock and Cody's the only one that won't piss me off and feels like the least likely of the three.

Believe me, I'm beyond excited to be attending the Royal Rumble on Saturday night, but there are three things that are kind of grinding my gears:
1. There are only four announced matches on the card - the two Rumble matches and two SmackDown men's title matches. That would be the smallest match card since 2014 for a Royal Rumble main card.
2. There are only 11 announced competitors for the men's Rumble match and 6 for the women's match. I'm not saying I want every single competitor announced in advance, as it does lead to the potential for more than a few surprises, I'd like there to be more than 28 percent of the total entrants.
3. The looming specter of The Rock and the discourse that will inevitably follow. Will The Rock show up at the Royal Rumble? Will The Rock win the Royal Rumble? What happens to Cody Rhodes and his story? It's all really exhausting and I'd prefer we didn't have it at all. I've always been a fan of The Rock, but his last few appearances have left a sour taste in my mouth - he's just playing the hits and not really producing new material, all the while making everyone else in the ring with him look awful by comparison.

I'm hoping for Cody and Becky but leaning towards Punk and Bayley. The title matches will be the title matches at Mania whether the challenger wins a Rumble or a chamber match so in the grand scheme of things I guess it doesn't really make much difference.
Interested to see what happens with Brock if he appears. If Brock-Gunther is the plan this year I think they'll do more than a brief tease like last year. I think they'll do something bigger like Brock eliminating Gunther then Gunther snapping and taking out Brock in retaliation.

If Rock shows up, itโs not gonna be in the Rumble match itself.

If Rock shows up, itโs not gonna be in the Rumble match itself. The match positioning will tell us all we need to know. If the menโs Rumble match is last, then he might show up at no. 30 to win, but I donโt know if WWE now would do that. But if the Universal Championship match is on last, you best believe heโs showing up for a stare down with Roman Reigns to end the show.

Pretty light on matches.
What if one of the Rumbles goes like 90 mins?

Pretty light on matches. What if one of the Rumbles goes like 90 mins? Last year, Cody Rhodes and Gunther had what basically amounted to an 8-minute match as the final two. If it comes down to Cody and CM Punk as the final two this year, I could absolutely see them getting like 10 minutes in the ring together to build the drama.
