My answer is Johnny Valentine. I'm more inclined to call him a fighter than a wrestler. His matches had a realism akin to a prizefight.

Macho. The GOAT. He always delivered 110% and brought out the best in whoever he was working with.

Bryan Danielson. His ROH title reign is my top wrestling nostalgia and he has continued to deliver ever since. Just the absolute greatest in my mind.

Jake Roberts. The best heel wrestling has ever seen, a darn good babyface too, and the absolute king of making every single movement and facial expression mean something.
I truly believe he could have had a career as a character actor had he not gone into wrestling.

Chris Brookes. The way he can make any ridiculous scenario work and can tailor a match to make whoever he shares a ring* with look better is remarkable. Not just carrying but bringing out the best or anything unique in an opponent/team mate. I think he could have even had made Tyrus look decent.
If he worked for one of the big 3 companies I'm sure he'd be included in best in the world conversations, even if not at the very top. However he has little interest in them and would rather take his own path which makes me like him even more.
And then he does commentary that makes tjpw better and runs his own show out of a bar on top too. Get well soon.

John Cena. He knows how to apply a simple formula and adjust it based on who he’s wrestling. I don’t really care about him admitting he has a certain type of match because his charisma, energy and rapport he builds with the audience makes up for that.

Bryan Danielson. He can be super technical, brawl like crazy, cut awesome promos, make you laugh, make you cry, make you cheer your heart out and make you wanna see him get murdered. To me, he is wrestling.

Also Bret Hart!
The first PPV I ever watched was Wrestlemania 8 which my Grandad had recorded on VHS for me. Bret's match with Roddy made me fall in love with wrestling and he was my guy from that moment whilst all my friends were either Hogan or Warrior obsessed. I always respected his desire to do the right thing and he was the best actual wrestler on the planet in the mid 90's. No one could touch him, not even Shawn.
Sting would come a close second. WCW was on terrestrial TV over here in the UK in 92/93 and he just jumped out of the screen at you. Loved him ever since.

Even wrestlers I think are great and have been favorites of mine over the years I try not to get too attached and into parasocial territory with but there are a few names who I respect so much that if they were like in some major scandal or something I would be legit sad. Like a Big E or Tanahashi.

It's a few, like Miro, Ultimo Dragon, Jushin Liger, etc, but the two I could watch the most are Tiger Mask (the first) and Mick Foley, the latter actually being not for the reason you're expecting, perhaps. Yeah, the bumps are impressive, but that interests me a lot less than the character work. Tiger Mask moves in a way that almost seems inhuman, like he somehow comes off like a genuine wild cat.

Up until a few years ago probably Jericho & Punk, I can't half-pick em. Current talent Gunther and Mercedes Mone and Bret for all timer.

Steve Austin.
Was a huge Stone Cold fan as a kid, and now that I'm aware of the inner workings of wrestling, I appreciate him even more. Because now I know just how much he put into being believable as a character and the work ethic he had.
I've literally never seen a promo or segment with Austin where I felt like it was obvious he's just performing or acting. He always came off as the real deal.
And I never get tired of going back and watching any of his matches.
