Another beat I liked on rewatch was that each won with the other's finisher, Copeland won with a killswitch then Christian won with a spear.

Usually it's an eyeroll kickout when someone uses your move against you, but it just feels right with these two. Like they know each other and their finishers that well. That it's credible and a meaningful insult to get the win that way. It'd be horseshit if not in the hands of these guys both really selling the bond between them and how hateful things have gotten

Match was great so much fun.
I’m thinking Christian doesn’t acknowledge he lost the title at all and still calls himself the longest reigning TNT Champ.

I think the cash in concept is one of the worst things in pro wrestling storytelling, but it was actually pretty funny last night lol.

Loooopovee the match. Still not a huge fan of turning Luchasaurus into Killbitch but other than that, it was everything I wanted from these 2.

And I've always hated it. I know it's all pretend but it just kills any notion that Pro Wrestling is a 'sport'. I just think imagine Tyson Fury turning up after Usyk gone 12 rounds with Anthony Joshua and being like 'lets go' I hope AEW stays far away from it. Especially if they serious about being more 'sports based'. Only way I will accept it is if the challenger gives notice when announcing the match

Match was great, the way they carried themselves and got their feelings across kicked it up a notch emotionally even without there being too much blood or anything criminally insane (except those bumps Nick Wayne took, good lord, kid).
Also at some point soon Luchasaurus is going to go “T. Rex tearing down the wires and destroying the Jeep” on Christian and the crowd is going to eat it up.

Copeland also deserved to lose for talking to Nigel like that. The disrespect.

I do wonder if they will explain why he is so obedient Hopefully a better reveal than the devil I think that can be simple: he sided with Christian instead of his friend Jack Perry because he felt he owed Christian for furthering his career and felt that was the best way forward. By doing this, though, he's put himself in a "you've got no one but me, now" situation with Christian; breaking away from him means facing the fact that he threw his friendship away for nothing. Basically, Christian manipulated him, and now it's either stick with Christian or have nothing and accept you made the wrong choices.

Was f***ing great. Adam comes across like he's really enjoying himself and the extra freedom that comes with working in AEW and I thought the finish pretty much worked for everybody, nice touch with both guys beating each other with the others finisher. Their 2001 feud was so forgettable but I liked that they threw in a callback to it anyway, Christian's low blow with the chair if I'm remembering it right was how he won their first match against each other back then.

On re-watch I think this is my all time favorite AEW match. Christian is my favorite wrestler ever, and Edge is in the Top 5. That match was everything I could have possibly wanted out of a match between the two in the twilight of their careers, and I loved all of the little callbacks to each of their careers. I know it was divisive, but Christian going all ultimate opportunist on the Ultimate Opportunist himself was an awesome cherry on top to a match that felt like an homage to two of the greatest careers in wrestling history in my opinion.
This kind of thing is why the wrestling business is so much better with AEW in it. Matches like this and, for another example, Cody/Dustin, are things that WWE wouldn’t allow to happen. Both Christian and especially Edge looked like they were having the time of their lives out there last night, and I’m so thankful AEW gave them the platform to celebrate their careers like that in a way that WWE never would.

My takeaway was that Adam should take over from Sting as the resident veteran that jumps off of things.
I’ve also heard criticism that he doesn’t feel like he belongs in AEW but that criticism is wrong, IMO. He delivered big time.

I get that to an extent because he's only really worked with Christian and his stable. But as soon as he starts working with others he wont. Hopefully that happens soon. They can revisit Edge vs Christian later in the year. Maybe for All In. I'm keen to see him working some fresh faces

I already though Christian was an all time great. His AEW run is moving him up my list of all time greats. Copeland is an absolute beast too. Really was a lightning in a bottle type scenario, those two in that match at that time.

I’d honestly argue that Christian Cage is one of AEW’s biggest acquisitions. He’s not as important as a Mox in laying the groundwork but if there’s someone who gets what it means to try things out in a new company and taking advantage of its resources, it’s Christian Cage. He did it in TNA and he’s doing it here.

Match itself was great but I haaaaated the post-match stuff. I get what they were going for and figured Copeland was getting cashed in on from the moment they announced the battle royal but the way they went about it completely invalidated the match, IMO.

I didn't mind the post match stuff. Only thing I'd change is Nick Wayne going through the table instead of bouncing off it

He's in my top 5 people in AEW right now, and none of the stuff I hate about "old guys" in wrestling applies to him. Wild that he's probably the best he's ever been at this stage in his career.
