23.Maid Droid-TUBI
Sci Fi/Horror,single guy gets told by top secret android maid service. But when this maid is shhut off at night to charge she has nightmares about a past client.
Sleazy but not like super sleazy, and hindered by it's low budget. Might have worked better as a 30 minute episode of some horror anthology show.
5.6 Hot Maid robots out of 10
24-Girl Lost-TUBI
Grimy Drama about a teen girl in modern LA. Warning this is not a film for everyone, but it also isn't a 70s style exploitation film either.
8.4 poolchairs out of 10
25.Jersey Shore Massacre-TUBI
Bunch of Jersey Shore women goto one of their uncles vacation homes for the weekend. Romero of the Hearthrobs is one of the guys after these women. Killer is on the loose.
Dumb and exactly what you think it will be from the title.
6.3 Fat Camp Massacre DVDS out of 10
26.Mississippi River Sharks-TUBI
Cassie Steele and Jason London vs Sharks in gulf coast Mississippi. Fun more cause I can say hey I know that area. Or "Wait is that Lil Colon Brown oon the pier fishing."
If you like shitty low budget shark movies watch this.
4.9 Shark Bite sequels out of 10

19. Black and Blue (2019) - Watched this on Blu-ray. This was a film that I saw in theaters a while back. I recall it being on Discount Day and enjoying it. I found it suspenseful and I was on the edge of my seat when I saw it. For some reason, I was in the mood to revisit this film. It had been a while since I had last watched it.
I maintain the same sentiment from when I first watched it. I liked the scenic shots of some parts of New Orleans, especially in the rougher areas. The gray color scheme gives it a dark feel for the kind of film this is. Naomie Harris did well in her role. She seemed very believable with her character being on edge and paranoid over everything that was happening. Frank Grillo plays a good villain as always. Some of the action scenes were intense. My main gripe is that it looked like the blood was CGI. For a movie with its low budget, I would have hoped there would be use of blood squibs. Or maybe I might be mistaken.
Also, the story is to the point. The film was driven by its plot mostly, but that wasn't to say that some of the characters didn't drive the story because there were some moments with the characters that drove the story forward. I saw some deleted scenes. One of them could have been included, but oh well.

23. Brewster's Millions (1985) 24. Crocodile Dundee (1986) 25. The Avengers (1998)Another YouTube find, and probably the worst Marvel movie ever. Ok, this is not a Marvel movie, but based on the 60's British TV show Avengers with John Steed and Emma Peel. I've actually been trying to watch it lately on Pluto TV, but I haven't gotten past the Cathy Gale episodes yet. None of that changes that this movie is a mess. Ralph Fiennes and Uma Thurman have no chemistry together. They keep trying to pepper their dialogue with sexual innuendos but it just all falls flat. I have no idea what Sean Connery is trying to do as the villain. The aesthetic looks like someone gave those Black Scorpion movies I watched last year a $100 million budget. And, while I know the original series got... quirky at times, the plot for this movie is just farcical and impossible to take seriously. Just not worth watching in the slightest.

20. Gold Diggers: The Secret of Bear Mountain - Watched this on DVD. I'll be blunt - what caused me to seek out a movie from my distant past was that I saw a post on a Facebook group that mentioned this. I do remember seeing this in theaters when it came out in 1995, but I don't recall having revisited it. Maybe I saw parts of it when shown on Encore/Starz, or maybe on the USA Network when it was shown on a Saturday afternoon sometime in the 1990s or early-2000s. I do remember that it starred Christina Ricci and Anna Chlumsky, both of whom were rather successful child/teen actresses in the 1990s. Oh, and I also read some articles about some alleged lesbian subtext in this film, but I won't get too deep into that.
With that said, the two leads have good chemistry. Their friendship was rather believable and they worked well together. I also could see that it has that vibe of some of those 1990s family adventure films. I also liked the scenic shots of the wilderness. I could say that it's a harmless family film. Though I did read that Christina Ricci wished she didn't do the film, but I am not sure if it was because of the final product or because of the working conditions. Still, I can't dis this movie. I wouldn't say it was a childhood favorite, but I remember enjoying it when I saw it in theaters as a kid.
As for the subtext, I read on forums and articles/blog posts about some lesbian subtext. I am not sure if it's because of how the friendship was presented, but some people say it may have been because of how Anna Chlumsky looked butch in the film. I didn't really look that deeply into the alleged subtext, but I could also see where some people were coming from when they talked about it.

It doesn't do much new with the genre but I love a good, underdog sports movie and that's just what this was. Throw in the scene-stealing performance by Kaimana and this is a winner from Taika Waititi. [***½]

24. Crocodile Dundee (1986) 25. The Avengers (1998) 26. Elfette Saves Christmas (2019)So after watching Avengers I had another YouTube movie lined up to watch, a really good one. But I was just in the mood for something different and decided to put that on hold. I went searching and came across this, which definitely scratches that "something different" itch. I don't know what the background is for this movie. It contains no name actors and doesn't have a Wikipedia page. Most of the actors credits on IMDb are pretty thin, and I can't find anything about any of the movies production companies that are listed in the credits. For those not familiar (which I have to imagine is most of you), a tech company is pissed off at Santa for sinking their sales by giving away their products at Christmas instead of selling them. So said tech company hires mobsters to wipe out Santa's workshop and kidnap the big guy. Now it's up to Elfette, who was on vacation in Florida when this happened, to rescue Santa and save Christmas in increasingly vaguer ways, complicated by a hitman who wants to eat her for some reason. While incredibly amateurish, this movie is no where near as bad as you'd expect it to be. It has surprisingly decent production values, some decent humor and the actors (mostly) seem to be trying. It's a stupid movie, but it's entertainingly stupid. My biggest problem is that there really isn't enough material for its 90+ minute runtime, so it gets tedious at times.

21. Mad Max (1979) - Watched this on Blu-ray. I had told myself to revisit the entire series for years. I recall watching the first three a long time ago. This was still before "Fury Road," by the way. Also, what led me to do this, despite having chances before, was that I recently started playing the "Mad Max" game. I thought I'd watch the films. Of course, I could have done it before "Furiosa" was released, but that is more its own story about that character. It doesn't mean I couldn't or wouldn't, though.
It seems like whenever people think of "Mad Max," they always think of the post-apocalyptic wasteland and finding ways to survive while dealing with some tyrannical factions. However, many people seem to lose sight of the one that started it all. The thing about this one is that it's not set after the fall of civilization. It might have somewhat of a dystopian feel, but society had not collapsed yet. If anything, society is still functional enough in this film. Also, the titular character isn't some legend or myth that people talk about. He is just a guy who is cop and has a family.
With that said, I have to give this film a lot of credit. Sure, it feels like more of a prequel (even though it actually is the first film of the series) like in a "Batman Begins" sense where it shows Max before the fall of mankind and what leads him to become a drifter. It has the feel of a western in some areas. I liked the way the car chases and the like were shot. It was rather low in budget and it shows (I am not sure what is high for Australian cinema, though).
It's still a good film, but for those expecting something like "The Road Warrior" or "Beyond Thunderdome," it's not really similar.

26. Elfette Saves Christmas (2019) 27. Blue Beetle (2023)This is not the really good YouTube movie I was talking about. This is another theatrical release from last year that I'm re-visiting in streaming. An enjoyable superhero movie. Nothing terribly new or different for the genre, and I have some nit picks with it here and there, but a solid and entertaining entry into it.

22. Mad Max 2: The Road Warrior - Watched this on Blu-ray. I'm just putting this out there - I am aware that "The Road Warrior" was the title used here in the states, while outside of the US (namely in Australia), this film is called "Mad Max 2." Over time, it has been called "Mad Max 2: The Road Warrior," which works, too.
Now this really made "Mad Max" what it is known for. The whole wasteland setting. The over-the-top fashion styles for the characters. I could go on. With that said, it really showed George Miller's style in his vision for this film. I can't dis the predecessor, but there is a reason this film is considered a classic. A lot of the camera work, whether it's the wide-angle shots, the first-person perspectives in some scenes, they worked. The effects were practical. Yes, I know it was the early-1980s, but man, the practical effects worked well in this film.
It had been a really long time since I last watched it, but before watching this, I saw that there was an introduction with film critic Leonard Maltin, who said that this was the first film in the series to get a wide audience. I later found out that the first film was not released theatrically, so this wasn't sold in the United States as a sequel. It helped explain things when watching the opening of the film with the monologue.
This film definitely lives up to its reputation.
23. Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome - Watched this on Blu-ray. The first thing I am going to say is that I was not a big fan of this one when I first watched it. I think some of it had to do with the rest of the movie involving the feral kids and the "Captain Walker" subplot. Now that I have revisited it after quite some time, I think the film has grown on me. I didn't hate it the first time, because the first 40 minutes of this film showed some promise.
I see that this is set a long time after the events of "The Road Warrior." Max has aged. He has a reputation. He comes across a community that is run by Auntie Entity (played by Tina Turner). I am not going into the whole story. I will say that Max battles someone in the titular Thunderdome and reneges on a deal, which has him exiled until he comes across the group of children, who believe he is the pilot of a plane that crashed.
So where do I stand with this? I don't think it's all that bad. I enjoyed it more this time, especially when it got to the climax with the chase involving the train and that one airplane. I used to think the feral kids subplot, which almost gave it a Peter Pan feel, dragged it down a bit, but maybe the plotline was also to show how children could be affected by living in a wasteland. I think it was better than I initially thought. I wouldn't put it above "The Road Warrior," though. I might have a hard time deciding which one is better between this and the first film, no matter how different that one is.
Now I just need to watch "Fury Road."

24. Mad Max: Fury Road - Watched this on Blu-ray. After watching the other three films, I had to do this one as well. I had the itch. Now I scratched it. Okay, that was lame, but I hope you get what I mean.
Now I remember seeing this in theaters around the time it came out. I remembered it was released in 3D and I remember enjoying it. Having watched it again, I appreciate it more than before. It had been decades since "Beyond Thunderdome," so I could see that there was a bigger budget in this one with there being more in the convoys, the visual effects, etc. I also liked the color scheme and temperatures used during the shots in the desert/wasteland, at least during the daytime.
I can't think of a lot of things to say about this. I know that this film was a soft reboot of the franchise. I didn't mind Tom Hardy as Max. I didn't compare his performance to Mel Gibson's. I also thought some of the shots and cuts worked with the action scenes, especially in the climax. I am certain that those were actual stunts, not CGI.
I am now looking forward to "Furiosa."

14. The Greatest Night in Pop
Actually found this due to this thread, when kevstaa mentioned it.
Really great documentary, talked to people at all levels.
Of the Ethiopia relief songs, I prefer "Do They Know its Christmas" but all anyone says is Bob Geldof called people and everyone had a lovely time.
This was far more of a story, the background, logistics, the egos and style clashes so it makes a great tale.

While I thought this was a very good WNBA documentary, I do think it's odd to make half of it be about the history of the league and half be about the 2021 Liberty. It felt like two competing docs mashed together. [***½]

5. The Marvels
I’m starting to suffer from MCU overload. There are just too many characters for me to keep track of. I never saw never saw the movies or series where they introduced Monica and Kamala’s powers so I had no investment in those characters. I wasn’t buying into the angst ridden Captain Marvel. When the characters shifted while fighting went from amusing to annoying pretty quickly. The whole story was just sort of okay. I did like all the baby Flerkens.

Was it really good? Yes, absolutely. Did it really need to be three hours long? No, there were a bunch of scenes that added nothing to the story and could have been edited out. I could see this winning a bunch of Oscars.
