99. Hellboy: Blood and Iron (2007) 100. Trading Places (1983) 101. McHale's Navy (1997)Latest YouTube movie. And a movie I've been trying to track down for awhile actually. Not because it's any good or anything, but simply because it's the last of those military-themed comedy movies that kept coming out in the mid-90's, despite none of them doing all that well at the box office, for me to see. Anyways, garbage movie. How do you have a movie starring Bruce Campbell yet Tom Arnold gets top billing? 102. Dragnet (1987)And another, much better YouTube movie. Yeah, just a fun movie. Tom Hanks and Dan Akroyd had good chemistry, I'm surprised they didn't do more movies together. By the way, does anybody know what Brown Derby was featured in this movie? I was under the impression that they had all closed by the time this came out.

118. Twisters - Saw this in theaters. I was interested in seeing this. A few weeks ago, I watched the 1996 original. Going into it, I knew that no one from the original film didn't return, but that didn't make this film any less interesting.
One of the things that stood out was the chemistry between Glen Powell and Daisy Edgar-Jones. I had read that there were some things left out of the film regarding a potential romance between them (from what I read, it was to avoid some romantic plot that was similar to Bill Paxton and Helen Hunt in the original), but I felt the tension between the two.
As for anything else, of course the selling point is the disaster element of the film. Some of the special effects worked. I also felt the tension in some scenes with the tornadoes. I also saw that while there were some similarities to some characters and plot, there were different spins on the elements to the story and characters.
Overall, I had a good time with this one. 🌪

#331 - Up in the Air (Blu-Ray)
*2nd Viewing
I loved this movie the first time around, yet I found it even better this go around. Just outstanding from start to finish, led by some stellar performances. [****½]
#332 - Romeo Must Die (Bounce)

The action scenes are terribly edited and ruin the point of having Jet Li as the led but the soundtrack bangs and Aayliah steals the show. She was gonna be an absolute megastar. [***]

49. Daley
Awesome documentary about the decathlete Daley Thompson who was huge here in the 80s. Really gets you inside what made him him for good and bad, nothing terrible but he could be an asshole and you see why. Also he had a line I really want a wrestler to rip off now.
"My opponent says he's bringing the gold medals home, so he has 2 options, steal mine or enter another event"
50. Wicked Little Letters
This was an absolute joy, fun, witty but also depressing when you see the sexism and the situations the characters are stuck in. Terrific film.

A stupid action comedy but a fun one because John Cena and Awkafina make it work. [***]

36. Jackpot!
In the near future when you wit the California lottery, if someone kills you then they get your winnings. Awkwafina wins and John Cena tries to keep her alive. It is 100 minutes of goofy situations and PG violence.

2024 New Releases
#35 Trap
What I love about M. Night Shyamalan movies is that you never know what you're gonna get. Will it be something really good like Sixth Sense, Split or Knock at the Cabin? Will it be something super weird like Old? Will it be god awful and broken like The Happening or The Last Airbender? He’s like a friend pulling up with a shiny new car and once you sit in he proceeds to speed off straight into traffic and take that car right over a ramp. Whether that car sticks the landing or not, who knows?
Trap is about Cooper played by Josh Hartnett who takes his daughter to a concert and learns that the strangely heavy police presence is there to trap a serial killer who just so happens to be him! The movie is ridiculous. So so many plot holes. Even if Cooper managed to get out of the arena, all his evasive maneouvres make him immediately the prime suspect once they look back on the day's footage.
Hartnett's performance is bizarre as well. It's all massive obviously fake smiles, furrowed brows, just prime mugging. Imagine Mark Wahlberg's "What!? No!" from The Happening across a full movie.
But despite it's many, many flaws, I did enjoy this movie for how janky it was!
VERDICT: So did the Trap car stick the landing? No, not at all! The car is flipped over on its roof and I’m looking back between the smoking wreck and M. Night’s nodding smiling face and wondering how we survived. I’ve some scrapes and bruises but I gotta admit, it was pretty fun! So maybe next time, when M. Night shows up again with his next new shiny car, I’ll hop back in.

51. Linford
A great companion to Daley, this time Britain's greatest sprinter, gold medalist in 92, another black athlete breaking through and getting a difficult reputation. Again, the press are absolute sharks, this had a lot more on this aspect and less on his background. Interesting to see a different personality have these issues, how he dealt with it and how, ultimately, they got their kicks in till he just said "screw this".

37. Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga
I have to say that Dementus is the lamest villain in all the Mad Max movies. The prosthetics, hair and beard were ridiculous and he was not so much evil as just a complete dick. The first hour was mostly people making dumb choices and they could probably have cut half of it out to tighten up the story.

192. LAST NIGHT AT TERRACE LANES (2024) A murderous Math Cult sacrifices a man and weighs his organs in order to calculate where to locate where their next awakening will take place, bringing them to a bowling alley that is about to close down. Meanwhile, the repairman of said alley is dealing with an estranged daughter who wants him to stay away from her date. Will those two end up having to work together to survive a death cult's siege? Yeah, that sounds like a movie.
Sets up a lot of quirky characters and knocks them down like bowling pins entirely too quickly. And for such a fun set-up, it doesn't do nearly enough goofy stuff with it. (I really wanted the character going for a perfect game to keep bowling when the cult starts killing people, but...nope).
193. CABIN GIRL (2023) Another unique addition to the "Tubi Original" side of things follows an influencer called Van Girl who has to take a sabbatical from cross country driving after an accident gives her a severe concussion. So, she buys a fixer-upper cabin in the small town she's in and transitions to Cabin Girl to maintain her audience...only to discover that the last owner died mysteriously and, before you know it, she's experiencing supernatural events that give her a suspicion toward the seemingly polite people of the town she's in.
But is there more to the situation at hand? Perhaps so, since I'm complimenting the film.
194. ALIEN: ROMULUS (2024) Yeah, brother. Fede Alvarez replaces a creepy old man with a creepy big alien for DON'T BREATHE IN SPACE when a group of young-ins break into a space station to steal things, only to find that what is waiting for them inside the ship wants them dead.
Okay, that's a bit of a stretch, but I've chuckled ever since I saw someone say it.
Outside of an absolutely dreadful decision in the regards to one character, I rather enjoyed the film and love that the Alien franchise is where you go for directors to take big, weird swings with things. Fede having a good time typing together timelines and plotlines amid his typical tension packed chaos was a pretty solid watch.
195. JACKPOT (2024) Any movie where I can hear John Cena's wrestling theme in my head before he has a fight scene is a good movie, daggone it.
It's a goofy action "What if the Purge, but for the Lottery?" set-up where the winner of the lottery can be legally killed in order to obtain the Jackpot. Awkwafina and John Cena have some surprisingly good chemistry together and Cena's banter-y improvs fit in a Paul Feig movie where you know that dude doesn't have the guts to tell people "That one was good, you don't have to do more."
Should win a technical Oscar for Best Use of Machine Gun Kelly in a Movie.

119. Joe's Apartment - Watched this on DVD. For some reason, I requested this from the library, and I saw it in my pile of checked out items. I figured, "Why not?"
As a child of the 1990s, I remember watching MTV, and they promoted the hell out of this film. I know it was MTV's first film, so it made sense for the heavy promotion. I recall having seen bits and pieces of it on HBO, but never the whole thing. Now that I have seen the whole movie, all I can say is that it is a very odd film. I won't criticize the visual effects, such as the stop motion, the weird POV shots through someone's mouth, among other things, especially with its low budget. There were some parts that I chuckled at, but it is definitely not something that I loved (or even liked), but I didn't hate it. I liked one of the musical numbers. I also noticed Bam Bam Bigelow (RIP) had a cameo in this.
I also read that this was based on a short that was done for MTV's "Liquid Television." It really does show that it's a movie of its time. It also felt like a live-action cartoon.
Overall, it's not something I would go out of my way to recommend. I know I finally watched this after nearly three decades, but I am not sure if I would watch it again, at least not soon.

A Quiet Place: Day One --- Might be the most boring movie I have seen. It was f***ing tripe.
The Strangers Chapter One --- A mess. The stupidest main characters in the world. I know horror movie characters are dumb as shit but these two took the biscuit. You know what I'd like, a movie like this where a gang of masked killers pick someone to torment and eventually kill and their victim turns out to be a serial killer themselves.
