Mick needs to ask himself, "Would I, knowing Vince as well as I do, leave Noelle alone with him for any length of time?" I get what you’re going for here, but in general it’s a pet peeve of mine when people try to frame their statements this way. The “as the father of a daughter, I am appalled” kind of things. You shouldn’t need to have kids to understand that something is bad! You shouldn't, no, and I would expect Mick to be the kind of person who doesn't need to have it framed that way, but... well, his response, whatever the logic he has for making it, makes me think otherwise.

I don’t even personally know Vince and if I asked I would advise any woman not to work for him/be alone with him for any length of time. This is just from the stories that about him being a creepy rapist that have gotten out through the years and the rapey bullshit that he booked women to do with him on TV. There is zero chance that a guy that worked closely with him for some years didn’t have any idea how much of a shitstain that that Vince is.
Foley and the others shouldn’t get any sort of pass for this.

Edit: this post was a bad take on my part. You can see it quoted below me. I don't always word things very well and as a result, put my foot in my mouth, which is why I tend to avoid serious topics like this.

Foley's had is fair share of creepy shit over the years, which he's admitted to in his books. His weird obsession with porn stars is a big one. Like, it's one thing to enjoy porn. But he wrote about some of these women in a way that was way more than just "I occasionally self-pleasure to adult films". His obsession over Melina was quite troubling, too. And stuff like reffing the bra and panties match at Invasion and how he acted with Stacy and Torrie... I'm not accusing him of anything in Vince's level, but we're acting like he's some sort of saint, when there's clear evidence to the contrary. Be mad or disappointed, but don't be surprised that a male in a profession that was a "boys club" for decades defends or denies what the puppet master did. The Melina stuff was a bit odd look from the outside I'll give you that, but being booked to ref a match is a bit of a stretch. He was super close with Chyna, and it's been 20 years since he was around these women and there's never even been a whisper of a complaint about Mick. Maybe he just gets on with women more? Lots of people do, look at CM Punk. People tried to be weird about him having female friends too.

I’ve never heard any credible bad stories about Mick from any women before, though. Even if he’s befriending women, has there been anything that came out about it being weird or creepy to them? Stacy asked him personally to induct her into the HOF. Becky asked him to help her write her book. Numerous stars ask him to send personalized Santa letters and/or videos to their kids each Christmas. Not to mention all he has done for charity, including donating thousands of hours to causes he believes in, and visiting children that are sick or have special needs (and not just visiting, staying at their house to watch PPVs or play video games). He’s one of the most charitable celebrities I’ve ever heard of, and without any crazy accusations against him.

Yeah I'm pretty disappointed with Mick right now because even with his history he should really know better. But I'm also not going to pick apart every last thing he ever did in his career to sniff out a reason to chase him up a tree with a pitchfork, either. I think it's a pretty big indictment of the industry as a whole that even a guy mostly agreed to be "one of the good ones" is still capable of being insanely tone deaf about Vince.

Im not accusing him of anything, but you can understand why some of that stuff may appear to be creepy. And the Invasion ref thing, by my understanding (if I'm wrong, please correct me) was that he agreed to ref Hebner/Patrick if they also let him ref the women's match. Again it's what I've heard, please correct me if that's wrong.
Also, I agree that there has been nothing negative said about him by any women. And I do understand getting along better with women than men, my best friend is a woman. All I was saying (and admittedly, I should've kept my mouth shut) was that some things about him can seem creepy and a lot of it was in his own words. But I probably should've held off and thought about it before I posted anything.
In other words, this is my "my bad" post.

If we heard and saw as much as we did, what did the wrestlers hear? We know that Vince texted Brock about Janel Grant and told Grant that he was bragging about their affair. Now I’m not saying any wrestler had inside knowledge of Vince committing crimes, but people who were close to Vince absolutely had to have heard about his affairs and various predilections over the years. And even if you thought they were consensual at the time, the lightbulb that makes you go “ooooh that’s what was going on” should hit anyone real fast.

Moral values and being disappointed by someone aren't imperatives. There are no consequences when those are formulated but for whatever reason, consequences are constantly feared. Like when Immanuel Kant's racism was brought to the forefront in the past five years. There were some iconoclasts demanding statues of Kant being removed, so people took it as them wanting to erase Kant and all of his philosophy from history. But that was a) not true and b) was the controvery necessary to recontextualize his works and get a more accurate picture of it. In the end Mick's quote will help to get a more accurate picture of him, too. At least one that is ambivalent enough to consider not knowing him.

By all accounts, Foley is one of the rare wrestlers Vince did do right by more often than not. I can totally understand it being hard for him to reconcile that someone who made it possible for him and his family to live comfortably, could do these awful things. But on the other hand, he knew full well Vince was no saint, he left twice over disagreements with him. Deep down, he had to know what Vince was capable of.

People like Cena, Foley etc have every right to be appreciative of Vince since he is responsible for their success and they aren’t terrible people either. But they really can answer no comment to these kind of questions

I think it's complicated as much as anything by how he knew Shane and Stephanie, and also probably that Mick wasn't around for seemingly a lot of when Vince got worse and worse. Like, there does definitely seem to be a period of escalation, versus like 1999, etc. All of that isn't an excuse, however. Same as we get when some youtuber or streamer screws up, and a legion of their buddies come out to say how So-And-So lent them money when their car was busted, or let them sleep on their couch when their flights got cancelled, people have a hard time pulling themselves away from the fact that people have different sides that they show different people. In most cases, it's not that extreme, likely, but we're still different with some people rather than others. Mick and the rest should remember that just because Vince didn't want to coerce them into sex or invite them to be part of it in some way like Johnny and Brock seemingly, it doesn't mean it didn't happen. I always think of how Winona Ryder handled it when asked if Johnny Depp was abusive. She said that he had not abused her, but, she also acknowledged that she had dated Depp decades ago, and that her experience did not have bearing on whether or not Amber Heard was lying. She provided her truth without using it as a cudgel to run defense for someone when she didn't factually know whether or not he was innocent.

There’s a press briefing with Janel Grant’s attorneys happening right now, and Brandon Thurston of Post Wrestling is covering it on Xwitter.

I think part of the problem too is that Vince helped these people A LOT in their lives. Their lives are just fundamentally better due to the WWE existing. Trying to reconcile that fact with the fact that Vince McMahon is a terrible f***ing person has to be hard.

Here's what you say if Vince was OK with you.. "Vince always treated me with respect, but I acknowledge that my experiences may not have been the same as others" It really is that simple. No one has the right to tell these people to stop feeling how they feel about someone who was an important part of their lives, but that feeling does not give them the right to minimize or ignore the wrong that person did.

Vince is not Mr Rogers, Mick. He is not someone universally considered a decent human being. He has had a reputation for being an amoral creep for ages.

Yeah....bad take there from Mick but at the same time, I really don't care about hearing other wrestlers thoughts about this case ATM. I just want some justice done here and hopefully it'll be before the old bastard kicks the bucket. Everything else is wasteful...
