Something that has been mentioned pretty frequently since last night across the internet is how bad the themes/entrances have gotten now. Casual fans not knowing anything about the character with their entrance, a lot of us here taking a few seconds to realize who was heading out in the rumble.
Repo man guy saying EL IDOLO is what really spurred this thread on but I think it is a question that should be asked. Take the question as you interpret it yourself, if you thought the attitude era themes were too ridiculous and you hated them, feel free to pick that. If you think today’s music rules because eat sleep bleed, you do you.
I do think this is the most corn flakes basic ass time for entrances/music that I can remember and it takes away from the enjoyment of the shows being put on. Entrances/music may not matter much when most of them are fine but this is straight up lethal company boombox music or penis music.
What say you?

Yeah the rumble proved it. For most entrances I had no idea who was coming out until the graphic displayed their name.

Too much of it sounds the same to me. One thing I noticed compared to, say, New Gen themes, is that there's a lack of cues before the music proper starts. I think of Bret and Owen having a sort of beat before the song really starts, or the Stone Cold glass break.

I definitely think so. Watching the Rumble the last few years always establishes it as they are all pretty much rubbish. I would say the only WWE produced themes that I enjoy are Imperium and the Unholy Union. I like Cody's and Punk's too but Cody had his before WWE and Punk's is a hit rock song from 36 years ago.
It's really an area that's gone down hill after Johnson left.

DIY and Theory basically have the same song just with face and heel vibes added.

Maybe the Netflix deal will allow them to open the pocketbook and pay for licensed themes.

I kind of wonder if part of why Cody comes off like such a star is his entrance music has any presence whatsover, putting it over the majority of the roster's.

What are there, like 10-12 recognizable hooks?
And most of those are older themes or licensed music. It’s so terrible right now and I hope it’s able to change before next year’s Rumble, because it was rough to not have a clue who anyone was, especially on the women’s side.

Of those 10-12, how many are 5 plus years old, how many are from outside the company.

I think Rhea's is the only one from the last couple of years that I really like.

I was often confused about who was coming out at the rumble as well. Good to see I wasn't the only one. Didn't matter who it was back in the day, you knew who was coming out.

Santos Escobar has one of the most underrated themes ever.

Theory's is okay, though even then I'd say it's a massive step down from his previous theme.

As much as I don't like to over-exaggerate and jump the gun, the answer to this is yes. Even during the late 00s-early 10s a lot of those songs stood out and were a vibe of the era. These days not many talent have great themes. A lot of it sounds like generate CAW music.
It sucks.

I felt like the 2022 Rumble was worse but yeah it's not great right now (and we're arguably in the same "era" anyway).
At least WWE has the good sense to keep Shinsuke's CFO$ theme.

People. Late 80s / early 90s themes SUCKED. I can enjoy a few ironically, but it's mostly forgettable stock-music one-dude-with-a-synthesizer nothing. Anyone's better than Jimmy Hart.

Makes me appreciate CFO$ work even more - they took a while to hit their stride, but produced some bangers. Current themes are complete trash.
I also think the sound mix has become worse - sometimes it's hard to even hear the music over the fake crowd noises.

I like Grayson Waller's theme, and Theory's is decent and has the recognisable intro.
Mostly, they're shit though.
