Has there ever been a group that is as stale and worthless as the New Day? Kofi is talented, Woods is talented, fingers crossed we see Big E again..there’s enough tag teams to go round that these guys just aren’t needed.
Why are they still together?

IIRC in an interview in the early days of the group, Kofi said that once the group was done, he was done. So they may just be keeping it together cause Kofi isn't ready to hang it up just yet.

What would they do if they weren’t a thing? Yes they are stale but that’s more so because they aren’t being used predominantly imo. They’re a reliable ace in the hole that can be thrown into a tag title program when the belts are in a down swing

I like the New Day. They are still one of my favorite acts. Can't a group of friends just be best friends forever?

I don't know, I feel like the feud with Imperium has given them new life? The crowds also still react pretty well to them. The company has a lot of guys that feel like big singles stars right now and they need veteran tag teams. I get it. They tried the singles thing with Woods and maybe they didn't give it a major chance but I don't think he was trending upward, either I'd rather them be a respected midcard tag team than be struggling singles guys at this point.
There was definitely a time where they felt kind of aimless but I think the time to split them has come and gone.

They’re a reliable ace in the hole that can be thrown into a tag title program when the belts are in a down swing Also since they have all achieved some level of singles success while on the group (two world titles and a King of the Ring), they can be reliably mixed into singles program if needed without losing the group connection. Also sometimes it's just nice that bros stay bros forever.

They are really missing something without Big E. His presence, energy, and promo ability completed the group and made them feel like a big deal. Without him it is just another of the many tag teams that Kofi has been on in his career. Even with Big E the group has really run its course by now.

So they come out together on nostalgia shows for years to come without it being weird.

It's an unfortunate consequence of current WWE, where you have established acts that are around for a decade or more and just not a lot to do.
All acts eventually grow stale. In a perfect world you'd see talent float between companies and eventually resettle where they were at before.

Believe all 3 said they didn't want to have a break up angle or feud, so I think it's just them riding things out.

They’re a proven commodity this way that sells merch. They can do tag and thrown in singles. What benefit would come from breaking them up?

In a perfect world you'd see talent float between companies and eventually resettle where they were at before. This is my biggest problem with modern wrestling and why I really don't watch much any more. Just way too many stale acts. Back in the day when acts had been around about five years and started to get stale they would start phasing them out with new fresh talents coming in to replace them. Now all the top talents last a decade and the roster never really changes or evolves. It's a big reason why I like NXT along with it having a lot of entertaining gimmicks and vignettes. Pretty much every one is new and fresh.

They probably still sell plenty of merch and I imagine kids like them.
Every time I tune in they get a pretty good pop when their music hits, too.

What would be the point of breaking them up? To give either one of them crappy music and get lost in the shuffle? They bring in merch sales, don't always have to be tag team guys, and when necessary they can be a valid tag team you know isn't just a ticking time bomb of betrayal.

My main question is why Kofi Kingston was treated like a jobber in the Rumble? He was champion a few years back.
Also is Woods injured? Why wasn't he in the match?

He got an elimination so I wouldn't say he was treated like a jobber. As long as Kofi's been around and where's he positioned currently it's not like he needed some super impressive performance to put him over. Three minutes with an elimination I think is about right for him at this point in his career.

Breaking them up for a shock would just be a waste of time. This isn't a situation like Bully Ray wanting to be a singles guy and having a falling out with D-Von, it'd be "because swerve!" Russo booking to break them up.

Break them up but have one wear a suit and turn heel.
