I mean, I wasn't gonna say it.... I'm tempted to start a thread referencing the poor grammar and punctuation we frequently see around here. Me fail English? That's unpossible!

There was someone in one of my college classes who constantly said "not for nothing but." It was never a phrase that bothered me until then. Now I hate it. Was it Taz by any chance?

"Do your own research."
What if I have done my research, but I have overlooked a crucial source that you have not?
Of course, I jest. Anybody who says "Do your own research" unironically is rarely doing so from a position of good faith.

Anybody who says "Do your own research" unironically is rarely doing so from a position of good faith. I've asked people who say this if they would direct me to a good place to start my research so that I'll have access to the most reliable information. The response is usually to ignore me completely or tell me where NOT to go, e.g. the sources they assume I must be indoctrinating myself with given that I don't share their opinion.

‘Do Better’ - extremely condescending and has never made anyone think twice about their opinions. ‘Educate yourself’ - I’m too lazy to construct my opinions into a reasonable argument Unsaid implications of disliking those statements aside, whenever someone says "It's not my job to educate you", I tend to want to respond with "Then don't be surprised when nobody knows WTF you're talking about." Just to make it clear I’ve never had these comments aimed at me but I’ve seen it on online discourse across the spectrum. I’ll leave it there.

Do your own research usually consists of a 90 minute YouTube video and a handful of memes.

I do generally get a kick out of somebody saying it to me, as they have no way of knowing that I work a job that gives me an average of 30 hours per week of on-shift downtime, and that I have a voracious appetite for learning. Odds are if I'm in a heated debate about something, I've already put in hundreds of hours learning about the subject from as many sources as possible.

People who say “know what I’m saying at the end of nearly every sentence. my most recent ex boss did this, 10 long years of hearing it nearly drove me insane. Shaggy 2 Dope ends almost every single sentence with “you know what I’m saying?” from what I can tell. I’ve listened to two podcasts with him as a guest and “you know what I’m saying?” Has to account for 90% of everything he says.

Not really for any reason, it just makes me irrationally angry.

My first boss did this, but her disorganized brain and inability to communicate anything made it more hilarious than irksome (at least in hindsight). "Hey! I need you to go to - Oh! No! First you gotta - Oh! And find Andy and tell him too! You know what I'm saying?" No. I have no f***ing idea what you're saying.

Usually with some phrases, they become irritating by how and who uses them, rather by the phrase alone. BUT who the hell decide to make Screw The Pooch a thing? I always found it gross, no matter what situation you are using it in. "We are in quite a predicament, I'm gonna reference beastiality in some form."

You had Tazz in your college class?! >_> I'm not racist but... then proceeds to say something racist, fooling no one. Or proceeds to say something not racist, making his opening assurance pointless. There's a saying if you have to preface your statement with I'm not ____ but... everything before the but is a lie.
