I'm sure TK was really pissed when it all happened, and Jack deserved to get punished over it. Dude did go into business for himself in the pre-show of their biggest event ever and contributed to the black cloud of backstage drama over it. But yeah, I seriously doubt he's still being punished for it now.
And as said before in the thread, if he was still really pissed off over it and if it didn't have his blessing, Khan wouldn't have put over Jungle Boy and his current gimmick in NJPW. He would've said something like "I can't get into that!" which is his usual go to when talking about talent on the outs in some way, except for Big Swole.

Has anyone other than Wrestle Purists come with those Alvarez quotes? Like, do we have audio of it?

Also if Tony Khan really did say excitedly in an interview 'Jack's doing great over here, he thinks he's the scapegoat' while icing the man out of his life and not answering his calls, that would be some f***ing ice cold shit. If there does turn out to be truth to this story, that puts a spin on Tony that's very different from anything we've seen before and it puts a much darker tone onto his relationship with wrestlers, but that disconnect is also so much of why this seems like such a weird story. There’s likely an element of truth to it - TK being mad about the whole debacle - but this all screams a shades of grey work to me. Oh no there's a decent chance Tony wan't happy, and I could even see "Come off suspension, go do a run in Japan and grow up a little bit" as his reaction to it for that reason. But we've seen what it looks like when Tony is on the outs with a talent he was buddy buddy with in Swole; he was an absolute dickhead in that incident, but this would be such grinningly two-faced insanity taken on its face that it has to be a totally different guy from the nerd slapfight-esque "WELL I NEVER EVEN WANTED TO BE YOUR FRIEND, DUMB IDIOT" shit he's done in the past that does seem up his alley.

I was really hoping he'd get repackaged as Perry Jackson in other companies.

Did we not just have Tony Khan praise Jack Perry's work in New Japan in a live video interview like two days ago or is there a f***ing gas leak in here? No that definitely got posted last page but also there is probably a gas leak in here let's be honest

What if Perry started using the GTS, and called it the Butterfly Effect? Someone put this into the Twitter-universe so it gets back to him. I want to see Punk have a meltdown over Perry "stealing his move" so then I can see KENTA have a "daf**?!" reaction. Also, it's an amazing idea in and of itself, and the name is goddam perfect.

Worked shoots are the f***ing worst and it just makes AEW look carny. There's literally no way they could have avoided doing something about it with Perry though. Him coming back after everything that went down and simply pretending nothing happened wouldn't have been smart, he would have gotten eaten alive. Doing it as they have, him getting time and reps in another promotion and trying out a new gimmick, imo was the best course of action for him. It helps him develop as a wrestler, develop a character that could stick, and overall could be a plus for New Japan and them The only thing that's really starting the "Shoot" convo is what feels like Meltzer an Alvarez whiffing on the reports... again.

If this isn't a work wtf is going on? This screams massive work and leading Perry to return.

Was thinking last night - if did was a work, that dude would eventually be a huge deal for AEW. Especially right now. A legit anti-establishment wrestler who was once a pure babyface original. Would work like gangbusters in AEW right now.
The only problem is it’s Jack Perry.

Yeah I feel the same way about worked shoot/pissed off at booking characters but I don't know how else you can do this. Just don't lean too much into it and it's fine.

I think if Perry can get past this Punk stuff while in NJPW (the upcoming Chicago show should help) and then establish a new character off the back of it (which he's trying to do). Then thats a good thing for AEW when he finally returns

Thats where im at with this as well. Not a fan of worked shoot but you cant avoid it with Perry. I am hoping this excursion allows this to allow him to move on once he returns to AEW.

Yeah, I hate worked shoots more than anything else in professional wrestling, but there's really no possible way to bring Jack Perry/Jungle Boy in without acknowledging where he's been and why he's been there, under the circumstances.
I just hate that this is all so inherently evocative of the CM Punk era of AEW, because I would prefer to never think of that again in my life.
