It makes sense for Cody, but now imo it seems like everyone who hasn't won a world title or acheived their set goal,is going for it now and are claiming they have their own to finish. Idk it feels overdone now.

Has it really been applied to other people? I hear it a lot in reference to Cody, because that has been his story arc since returning to WWE. I haven't really seen it applied to anyone else.

Finishing the story is just kinda the buzzword. It’s like how everyone was talking about giving people their flowers last year.

Appreciate the snark guys. Really wasn’t even remotely suggesting they cut off the legs off anyone or fans shouldn’t be happy. I meant it as a phrase and booking arc. But hey, I’m just looking for a fight.

CM Punk and Drew McIntyre have both said they have stories to finish. The promotion around WWE 2k24 is "Finish your story."

Finishing the story is just kinda the buzzword. It’s like how everyone was talking about giving people their flowers last year. Yeah that’s more or less what I was hinting at. But besides Cody where it makes great narrative sense, I worry that it’s going to be a redundant booking style instead of focusing on blood feuds. It’s not about this person should never get their flowers. It’s about will most main event story’s now be “this guys has to finish theirs?”

Like I said, it used to be Wrestlemania moment. I think it kicked up maybe after WMXXX with Daniel Bryan. After that there would be like five people every year giving a promo how they were looking for their Wrestlemania moment.

At least for WWE 2K24, it’s still tied to Cody as he’s the cover wrestler for the standard edition.

It's been such a hit for Cody promo-wise that the company as a whole latched onto it. Same way, can't believe I'm saying this, that when Hogan and Gorilla Monsoon started saying "Hulkamaniacs" and "Hulkamania" that started a massive trend with WWF using "-mania" for stuff. Hell even beyond that, it's just WWE beating things to death. We always get a line or angle or something funny that they keep doing repeatedly.
Granted, Cody is good because it's part of him. He's got a way of getting stuff over.
