I thought Golga’s attire was horrible sweat pants and a t-shirt but I guess they had to fully hide from the fans it was John Tenta

Bret kind of gave up on his more elaborate attire after having a bunch stolen from the locker room and realising WCW is too much of a poop show to bother with making the effort. Wait, people stole bret's gear?!?!?!?! Anyone able to confirm this man's whereabouts? One of the great progressions of watching a guy stop giving shit. Started out painting his whole face. Then got to “I’m not washing the paint out of my mustache any more”. Then by Survivor Series, no paint at all and the most generic WWF shirt they sold. Big Spike Dudley: Mero seems embarrassed to be standing near him.

Towards the end of Gangrel’s tenure, he wrestled in a sleeveless puffy shirt. I guess that the kayfabe reason was it was the year 2000 and that previous look was supposedly the look of the 90s according to Cosmo Kramer.

Surprised no one has mentioned Davey Boy Smith wrestling in his jeans in the back half of his 1999 run. Ironically, both of these are examples of the opposite of what this thread is asking for. Bulldog felt the Union Jack tights/trunks look was dated and leaned into a "street fighting man" look. In the end he wound up looking like a roided up bricklayer, but nobody ever accused Davey Boy of being particularly smart or creative. Raven was trying his hardest to get noticed, and was willing to sacrifice his look for something Vince found more to his tastes. Knowing Vince he was probably waiting for Raven to break in such a manner before shitcanning him.

Bill Eadie's last night as Ax at Survivor Series. Granted he's in full ring gear but he's well remembered for not having his hair slicked as usual. He comes off as "no F's given anymore." None of Demolition came out to their traditional entrance gear. They all were an afterthought by this point, sad to say.
Barry Windham, to me, always came off as a WCW guy first and when he was with WWF, he was just there because he wanted a job in wrestling but it wasn't his place of passion and his style wasn't WWF's style. He wasn't really a gimmick guy so the Stalker gimmick didn't fit him at all.

He came back as Sultan later that year, but when Fatu left in 1996, he was just wearing the old Headshrinker tights despite having the make a difference gimmick: www.youtube.com/watch?v=kyc5LNK56Bg

Barry Windham wrestling in a wwf shirt in late 96 is up there The funny thing about mentioning Windham in a thread about "no effort on the way out" is that he wasn't actually out of the WWF again until mid-1998. Good Gravy. I was watching Raw religiously at the time and I have absolutely ZERO memory of Windham being there
