For Wrestlemania? I feel like Cena/Rock won’t even be as big of a moment as Cody winning the wwe championship from the near 4 year long title Holder

I probably wouldn't even put Hogan / Andre in my top 20.

I feel like there are like... a dozen absurdities in that title by itself that I don't know where I'd even start lmfao

No.
Hogan and Andre were household names, larger-than-life wrestlers, it was like Godzilla fighting King Kong. It was the biggest match in history. It would be like if Taylor Swift fought Beyonce at the Grammys. Thats how huge Mania 3 was.
As mainstream as WWE is right now. This isn't even Rock vs. Austin, Rock vs. Cena, or Hogan vs. The Rock.
Nobody knows Roman has been champion for four years, nobody knows who Cody Rhodes is, maybe they saw his reality show or when he was a judge on that one game show. Outside our little bubble it might get some media traction that people want Cody over the Rock, but people have already moved on to hating on Madaam Webb.

They've gotta top last year's match first, which is an incredibly high bar to clear. I'm pumped up to see them go at it again so I have high expectations

I don't think so. I think Hogan Vs Warrior was the best main event since Hogan Vs Andre, and I don't think anything has come close to either of those matches.

It's definitely better than Drew McIntyre vs. Big Show.

I would argue Savage/Hogan two years later was bigger and might have been even bigger than Hogan/Andre.

technically it'll be a better match than Hogan/Andre as both Cody & Roman are in better shape. storyline wise it's a bit of a mess.
historically it'll be a blip, sure it's one of the longer title reigns of recent history but it's dragged on and relied on the same trope "cheating heel relies on interference to win" far too long and lots are/were ready for it to end two years ago and it's missed multiple rational end points but outside of potentially Roman's record breaking title reign ending by Cody/Rock it'll be remembered more for the potential f*** up of trying to shoehorn the Rock into the main event in place of Cody and the fans rebelling against it.

As well as the... why didn't they just end it last year? As the following year for both was just padding.

Once people have the photo of Cody bawling in the ring with confetti falling down, people will be happy. That’s all anyone *really* wants.

The main events of 17, 5 and 6 were really huge. 1 too even though it was just a short tag match. The company as a whole is more popular than it's been in 20 years but in terms of a single match I'm not sure it's bigger than the first Rock/Cena either. That was so big I remember like E! and other non-wrestling channels airing preview shows for the match the week of the PPV. And there was so much hype that the first time they shared a segment together on Raw it did over 7 million viewers which in 2011 was numbers not seen since the attitude era.
In terms of biggest Mania main events I think it'll be in the top 10, knocking on the door of top 5. The top 10 imo and in no order other than chronological:
Hogan & Mr. T/Piper & Orndorff Hogan/Andre Savage/Hogan Hogan/Warrior HBK/Austin Rock/Austin I Rock/Austin II HHH/Batista Rock/Cena I Roman/Cody II
It's definitely a huge main event. Here's an interesting question I just thought of, will this be the biggest match in the past 50 years not to feature Hogan/Austin/Rock (assuming Rock isn't added to make it a triple threat)? If not which ones were bigger? Not just Wrestlemania but in all of wrestling. The biggest matches in Japan or Mexico I'm sure would be bigger in their respective country but wouldn't come close worldwide. HHH/Batista was pretty huge in 05. I think that may be the biggest not including those 3 guys but Roman/Cody will probably surpass that one if Cody wins.

Cody v Roman 2 is almost completely overshadowed by the presence of The Rock and whatever he ends up doing now he’s part of it. So nope.

No. Hogan/Andre was a once in a lifetime build and matchup.
not to mention that Jacob Fatu, Haku, and or/the entire Samoan Rugby team may run in wearing a hoodie and help Roman win.

Let’s not undersell how big Hogan/Andre was. Understands that it was a different time and place but the build, the hype and the draw were beyond epic. Wish we had the Andre of 5 years earlier to make it an actual workable match but this made local news here in Boston and I’m not sure that was down again until WM 14 which was here.

No, imo Rock/Austin II at mania X-Seven is the pinnacle of big time wrestlemania main events that can't be matched. 1 vs 1A megastar in a time when WWF was mainstream hotshit.
