Don’t worry about winning a match or anything just simply get yourself into a number one contender match and make sure not to actually win it. Then title shot is guaranteed!
Or you can call out OC and say that title belongs to me. Mission accomplished! Maybe you travelled with the Women’s champion in Japan and have a matching tattoo? Use that!

They have rankings and explain this shit.
Like this isn't even a coherent post if you've watched any part of the product over the past 2 months

Still a bad outlook that a newcomer can jump straight into a title shot after like 2 matches.
EDIT: I'm counting Edge for that too.

Still a bad outlook that a newcomer can jump straight into a title shot after like 2 matches. Except she's being ranked under the same standards as literally everyone else: performance in 2024 in AEW, name value, and being a strong, promotable story (in kayfabe, which is also a how the real fight game works). Same thing as Roddy, plus he's been attacking OC's allies.

The rankings are part of this criticism. Deonna has the best winning record in the division since the new year. I don't get how she is not the #1 contender. This whole topic just seems bad faith from the start when we literally have a topic on the rankings and so far they've followed logic. As for the International/TNT/and Continental Championships, those are less based around the rankings, with only the TNT title needing a challenger from the top 5. Hangman and Swerve have the same winning percentage and their tie breaker was a draw, so of course they're both challenging.

The rankings reflected on a single month of January wrestling and have built off that since, no it is not a bad outlook for a newcomer to jump straight to the top of the rankings when the rankings reset every year and everyone starts out blank. She has also had five matches since debuting and has won all five of them, she is very clearly the top contender for the belt.

People wonder why some frequent posters on this Board get defensive when we get threads like this that have zero intention of being in good faith or instilling a civil conversation about the product or how it conducts itself, especially when the arguments against it make zero sense whatsoever to what is ACTUALLY happening on the show
It just comes off to me as being made with the worst intentions, ranting about something that doesn't even match up to how the product is actually delivering its story or its presentation of talents. Especially when things are being rationally explained in multiple posts by multiple people and still getting handwaved away because "No it simply has to be bad".

I'm always confused when criticisms that seem to apply to most or all wrestling get treated as if they are flaws of a specific promotion.

Aww Im a bit disappointed the OP wasnt being sarcastic, his post wouldve made more sense if it was the period between late 2023-Jan 2024 when there were valid complains about the show doing too many open challenges.

I just woke up from a nap and I dreamt that Jonny Ace was in AEW and everyone defended it - so I was all ready to criticise them in my half-asleep state, but nah this isn't it.

Also this has been mostly overlooked in favour of (rightfully, I think) focusing on the Deonna stuff, but there is something so blazingly disingenuous about framing a hard fought 30 minute time limit draw as "get into a number one contender match and make sure not to actually win it" like what?

I'm going to give a little benefit of the doubt and assume he meant Danny Garcia vs. Adam Copeland, which was a bit of a weird choice. But, given the story is that Copeland has been removed, that leaves the contender standing as a pretty logical #1 contender, if an underdog.
