Like several others have said in other threads, dude is almost certainly just selling the angle, and he doesn't look obscenely fat, as you put it. Sure, dude is bigger than he was in 2006, but considering he's not an active talent, nor an athlete, and it's 18 years later, that should not be a surprise.

And the fact this storyline just elevated fast and moved a lot quicker.

We finally gain momentum for a Solo vs. Cody match at Summerslam as long as Bloodline 2.0 absolutely murder the faces at MITB and leave them for dead. Make it as one sided as possible to make them look like monsters.

I wouldn’t be surprised if they use the match as a way to write Owen’s out with an injury angle, to not only give him time off due to his mom’s health issue but also to callback to the promo he had with Heyman a month ago where Heyman tried to warn Owens that the new Bllodline were uncontrollable and something really bad was going to happen to him if kept calling out Solo. Also helps stack the odds against Cody by leaving him even more outnumbered with only Orton as an ally.
