Jericho targeting the mask against Titan makes me think that they're building to a mask vs hair match at Dynasty. Who would that be against though? Mystico?

I hate to say this as he's my second favorite of all time after Bret, but dude is in a pretty blatant "Puppet Show and Spinal Tap" spot at the moment.

Something that gets him off screen for large periods of time that makes it an event when he shows up
Whenever he shows up I’m “This guy again” in my head and genuinely almost fell asleep watching him on Collision
Also, and I realise this is such a superficial thing but a damn haircut. His scraggly hair really bugs me more than it should lol

He’s still capable of having decent matches with the right opponents just his feuds drag on for way too long and on the mic as a face he’s horrendous at times. A part time position might be the way forward so it feels special when he shows up.

The man needs a vacation. He's too overexposed on TV. I think some time away will help us and him a lot...

I'm mixed on Jericho because I don't know how much of my "oh...really?" whenever he becomes involved in an angle is because I actually don't enjoy him or because of how strong the discourse around him is and how much that can influence how you think of anything Jericho is involved in. Like, thinking of some of the ones people have complained about most in the last year, his angle with Starks people were immediately talking about the Jericho vortex and it going on too long and it didn't really go on that long at all, they had two matches and Ricky bear him clean twice, one of which being a really hot opener to what was voted their best PPV of the year. The stuff with Cole was at points really good, the Falls Count Anywhere with Roddy with Cole attacking Jericho outside was one of the best parts of one of their best Dynamite's of the year, while Cole attacking Jericho on commentary on Rampage made that show feel like a much differ deal before a PPV and most of the stuff that wasn't so good in the angle was almost entirely not because of Jericho, I don't know how much blame can be put on him for a truly random Sabu appearance and the crowd just giving them nothing at Double or Nothing, as they did for plenty of other matches including the main event. I didn't love the Golden Jets stuff but the match against the Bucks was excellent yet suffered from being in the worst possible spot on the card. Generally speaking I still enjoy most of his matches, I thought the reaction to the Takeshita match in particular was wild, he looked a bit off it and I wouldn't have given the star rating Meltzer did but I thought it was a really good match.
The one thing I would say is I think he desperately needs a change in character, the level of the current Bucks transformation, because his promo game has suffered massively. He's gone from being one of the best promos in the game to sort of sounding like he's doing a Jericho tribute act that hasn't quite got the memo on how to do it properly. Like when Jerry Lawler overnight just stopped knowing how to do commentary. Nothing he really says comes across convincing and hasn't for a while, aside from a really strong promo with Ospreay right before All In. Had been like that on commentary too, though I though he was much better on the most recent Rampage, probably not a coincidence that was after he hasn't done commentary for a while. He could definitely do with some time off screen, not just to refresh himself but to give people a break from him, he does feel overexposed.
Also, the thread title just keeps making me think of the Simpsons Treehouse of Horror episode with Bart's twin. "But what to do with Chris Jericho? Too crazy for boys town, too much of a boy for crazy town. The man was an outcast".

The thing about Jericho constantly reinventing himself is that he constantly NEEDS to reinvent himself because after he's stuck with any given thing for awhile he becomes intolerably boring.

This thread helped me realize I don’t think I’ve actually enjoyed Jericho in over a decade. Since maybe what… the 2009 feud with Rey Mysterio?

I mean you can say that about A LOT of acts, novelty can wear off. Thing about Jericho is he's hit a lot of times on the reinvention, and I'd argue The List still had a lot of juice left but he left to do other things after the Mania Match basically. It's one thing to have one gimmick that gets over, I do think it's impressive to have several, it shows a range even if the shelf life may vary

In matches with no story attached I've enjoyed him. But the last two years he has this vortex of suck that pulls people and kills their heat with me. I dunno why but I just feel his angles go on for too long.

Let Jericho beat Hook for the FTW title, it would also help Jericho come up with a new moniker like The Ocho was when he was ROH champ.
The issue is Jericho can only work face for a couple of months and then gets corny(it happened vs MJF, happened vs Lambert, vs Callis family)

Honestly, I think we're nearing the point where Jericho's done everything he really can in AEW. He's been world champ, he's been in trios stuff, he's been in tag stuff. It's really starting to feel like AEW doesn't need him anymore.
When you look back, I think you can say Jericho's first title run helped establish the company's legitimacy but I'm not totally certain he's done THAT much beyond that. Inner Circle was kind of a bust in terms of making stars. Jericho Appreciation Society kind of helped Garcia and 2.0 but Garcia kind of ended up needing to become a folk hero to get over.
It seems like the last 3 years of Jericho in AEW have been more about people going "oh wow, Jericho still has it!" instead of him actually making new stars. Not sure that's a good thing.

Hook could be that guy that breaks the narrative because he still needs a lot of help both in the ring and mic skills/charisma

Honestly, I love Jericho, he's 100% in the discussion for Greatest of All Time, but it's time to hang it up, or at the very least go part time.
He doesn't need to be wrestling anymore, he has money and outside interests and at this point it just feels like he's damaging his legacy with each passing match.
