Remember, Baker Mayfield looked terrible on the Panthers. Sam Darnold's looked much better since leaving the Panthers as well. It's an inept front office who can't build an O-Line, and made a terrible trade to get Bryce, hampering their chances to put anything around him. And a coaching staff that isn't developing him. Bryce's confidence is getting wrecked. To be fair, pass protection held up pretty well in Wk 2 and he still didn’t produce. Granted, if no one can get open check-downs are what you get.

I can't put all that blame on Bryce
Panthers have done him so dirty and did not set him up for success. He has done shit this year that he shouldn't be doing as far as mistakes go but his confidence is shot
Panthers are a garbage run franchise

Kareem Hunt back to the Chiefs, I'm sure there will be fun opinions on that.

The Panthers are such a dysfunctional mess from the top on down that it's impossible to lay blame at any one person's feet, let alone a young quarterback who has had no support around him since arriving in the NFL. But if blame can be pinned on a single person, it's probably on owner David Tepper. Since becoming owner of the Panthers in the summer of 2018, the franchise has a record of 31-70, four last-place finishes in seven seasons, a cumulative point differential of -537, seven head coaches over seven seasons, and 10 different starting quarterbacks over that span. And there doesn't appear to be any signs that things are going to get better any time soon. There's something to be said about knowing you don't have the right captain at the helm and needing a coaching or quarterbacking change to shake things up, but there's also institutional stability to be considered. Bouncing Bryce Young back and forth between starter and backup is going to do him no favors and it won't make the team any better in the short term or long term. The Panthers need to commit to a plan and stick with it despite how gruesome the initial results may be. If that means sitting Young, then so be it. But they can't give him a vote of confidence on Sunday, then bench him on Monday, and think that's going to benefit his development. You can criticize Jim Irsay for being a coked up kook, but he values stability in his team well past the point others would make sweeping changes. - It took him two seasons longer than necessary to fire Grigson as GM (I still think Grigson driving Pat McAfee, who Irsay really liked, into retirement might have been the last straw for Irsay). - He did not get rid of Chuck Pagano alongside Grigson, which was the standard move, to give Chuck a chance under Ballard. - When Josh McDaniels reneged on his acceptance of the HC position, the team had already begun hiring McDaniels’ chosen staff members. Irsay insisted that their replacement HC, Frank Reich, had to retain them all at least until the next hiring cycle as a matter of doing right by the coaches McDaniels got to resign from their jobs only to leave them twisting in the wind. Granted, only Eberflus stayed beyond that season, but still. - Irsay actually had to get talked out of being impetuous for once a couple of seasons ago. Frank Reich insisted on the team trading for Carson Wentz. It seems that Ballard and Dobbs were both less enthusiastic about the idea, but Irsay told them if the coach was sure then they should be supportive. Immediately, Wentz publicly flouted Irsay’s efforts to get the entire team vaccinated. Jim pitched it as a competitive advantage. Having the QB1 say it wasn’t for him emboldened a number of other players not getting vaccinated and the Colts had a number of players miss time due to testing positive. That alone seemed to piss Irsay off royally, but Wentz had to make it worse by testing positive himself then playing like dog shit and missing the playoffs. Ballard wound up talking Irsay out of firing Reich over Wentz…..until he followed that up with the team being meh the next season. - To be fair, Jeff Saturday wasn’t an unmitigated disaster. He did clean up the issues at offensive line, which was a disaster that season before he came in. He would have been an amazing line coach, which is the job Ballard tried to offer him first but it wasn’t enticing enough for him to leave his TV job. They should have hired Ventrone as interim coach, but then they might not have gotten to draft Richardson.

Btw, with all of the players I see make news for getting injured, I thought we should also acknowledge that DeForest Buckner was also put on the IR.

If you need a quick primer as to why the Panthers are the Panthers, here's UrinatingTree to explain why and how:

Those two dipshits John Harbaugh and Mike McCarthy are going to try giving the game away to each other in the 4th quarter like a game of hot potato.

The Pro Football Hall of Fame announced 167 modern era candidates for the Class of 2025, which includes 16 players who became eligible for the first time this year.
They are: Antoine Bethea, Vernon Davis, Travis Frederick, Ryan Kalil, Luke Kuechly, Marshawn Lynch, Eli Manning, Darren Sproles, Joe Staley, Terrell Suggs, Aqib Talib, Demaryius Thomas, Earl Thomas, Adam Vinatieri, Delanie Walker, and Marshal Yanda.
Vinatieri is the only slam-dunk, no-doubter of that bunch. Marshawn Lynch has a strong case, as do Luke Kuechly, Terrell Suggs, Joe Staley, and Marshal Yanda, but their candidacies are each a step below Vinatieri and they may have to wait a year or two depending on who makes it to the next round of voting.
And just so we get this out of the way now, no, Eli Manning is not a Hall of Famer.

Lynch has a chance. Who else besides Allen were finalists last year? I know Wayne and Holt, a couple linemen, and Rodney Harrison. I think there was a CB as well.

The fact that you think they’ll last into the fourth means you have more faith in my Boys than I do! Guess we’ll find out something about both teams on Sunday. And yeah, he may or may not be first ballot, but I’d be stunned if Eli never made it in.

lol Eli is 1000% going in. I'd like to hear the argument for Eli Manning's Hall of Fame candidacy that doesn't include the phrase, "Well, Joe Namath is in, so he should be, too!" I know the Manning Media Cartel is going to work overtime over the next four months to ensure Eli is enshrined in Canton, but he'd be truly one of the least deserving Hall of Famers in the sport. There’s just 5 getting in each year, right? The only ones I feel sure of are Vinatieri and Jared Allen. Lynch has a chance. Who else besides Allen were finalists last year? I know Wayne and Holt, a couple linemen, and Rodney Harrison. I think there was a CB as well. Three to five modern era players are enshrined every year. Last year's finalists were Antonio Gates, Torry Holt, Reggie Wayne, Willie Anderson, Jahri Evans, Darren Woodson, Eric Allen, Rodney Harrison, Jared Allen, and Fred Taylor.

Young going from a not at all good 33 QBR to a freaking NINE QBR means he's either the worst QB who ever played or the team around him is historically bad.
I have no clue if he's actually good but I don't know who would succeed with Dan Snyder 2.0 as an owner, the worst roster on the planet, and a rookie HC.

If Eli does get into the Hall of Fame, I’m pretty sure it’d be because of the two Super Bowl runs and that’s about it.
