I was on the road today and just finished watching the Colts/Jags game. I have thoughts:

1) Injuries have been crazy for the Colts this year. Today’s game was played without 9 starters and one more starter went down during the game when Will Fries got his leg broken.

2) Related to #1, the Jags can’t really feel that great that they almost choked away that game to a team literally missing almost 50% of their starters by the end of the game.

3) I remember so many articles lamenting that Alec Pierce was awful as a deep threat that can’t create separation. He may only have 13 receptions after 5 games, but the fact that he is averaging over 28 yds/catch means that he often gets special attention from defenses. Btw, he averaged 44.7 yds/catch today by catching all 3 of his targets for 134 yds and a TD and all 3 catches were highlight reel catches. He went from an afterthought to a major problem for defenses and drawing defensive attention away from all other pass catchers. Not bad for a guy whose supposed replacement was drafted this year.

4) Nick Cross has arrived as a stud finally. Funny thing is that as a 3rd yr pro he’s still younger than most rookies.

5) Jaylon Jones is showing serious improvement, but he’s still a work in progress. Still, at this point he is CB1 by default, but it still feels kind of earned now.

6) How is it that the Colts were the only team to call Joe Flacco this offseason?

Patriots safety (and team captain) Jabrill Peppers allegedly committed all the crimes over the weekend.

Police said Peppers, who turned 29 on Friday, will be charged with "assault and battery, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, strangulation, and possession of a Class B substance believed to be cocaine."

According to Braintree police, Peppers shoved a woman to the ground, shoved her head into a wall, and put his hands around her neck to strangle her. Police said she was treated at home for injuries to her face and knees.

I don't know if these past few days have been rock bottom for the post-Brady Patriots, but I hope it is, because I don't want to see how much lower this organization can go.
