18 games is a prelude to expanding the league, the end game here is 40 teams and expanded playoffs. Where do the 8 teams come from? I do think an expansion is likely but do you think they'll actually bite a bullet and make international teams? Still think logistically that might not be feasible, but otherwise like... well St. Louis and Oakland would sure like teams back lol If you want a team in Europe, you probably want to have an entire Europe division (if not two) to at least slightly limit issues with needing them/their opponents to travel across the Atlantic every week (and if we're talking eight more teams, I feel like a Europe division would have to be part of that. Sure, you can find eight places for teams in North America - say, one team in Canada and one in Mexico City; new teams in St Louis, San Diego, and Oakland; teams in bigger markets without teams like Portland, OR or Austin, TX; maybe try a second team in Chicago if/when the Bears leave Soldier Field - but that feels like a recipe for oversaturation. And that's separate from the fact that eight additional teams would almost certainly lead to a diminished product that would be both just plain worse on a game-by-game basis and also kill any sort of parity that exists now.)
