I remember years ago, when I was in my teens, I used to believe "Sabotage" by Beastie Boys sounded a lot like "Remisero" by Illya Kuryaki and the Valderramas whereas "Mysterious Way" by U2 sounded fairly a lot like "No Necesito Verte (Para Saberlo)" by Soda Stereo First thing I thought when I read the thread was 21 Guns and ELO’s Telephone Line lol Deftones “Be Quiet and Drive” and Chevelle’s “Send The Pain Below” There’s this song I hear at work on occasion, “Black Horse and a Cherry Tree” or something like that by KT Tunstall, which is basically just “The Neutron Dance” by The Pointer Sisters. I remember discovering KT Tunstall in my teens (circa 2011) when I was consuming MTV like a drug addict. First song I heard of her was the one you mentioned. I still hear her albums from time to time.

Sam Smith's "Stay With Me" is a boring "Won't Back Down" by Tom Petty. Let's up that...Dani California IS Mary Jane's Last Dance. "Last Night" by the Strokes ripped off "American Girl" by Petty. To their credit, the Strokes admitted it and Petty found that funny

As she was driving into the studio one day, Stevie Nicks was listening to Prince’s “Little Red Corvette” and was inspired.
She called him up and told him she was gonna make a song that sounded like it and she was going to give him a songwriter’s credit on it.
Prince asked if he could play on it and so they made “Stand Back.”
He ended up turning down the credit, but they split the royalties.

I'd always get shit for singing the verse from "Roots Bloody Roots" by Sepultura over "I'm Too Sexy" by Right Said Fred, or vice versa.

Has anybody mentioned "I Want a New Drug" by Huey Lewis and the News, and "Ghostbusters" by Ray Parker Jr. yet? I remember reading about the controversy surrounding those two songs.

Rage Against The Machine's "Wake Up"
sounds a lot like Led Zepllin's Kashmir

Petty wrote MJLD in the 80s, just never finished/released it. But I'll grant you the similarities. Has anybody mentioned "I Want a New Drug" by Huey Lewis and the News, and "Ghostbusters" by Ray Parker Jr. yet? I remember reading about the controversy surrounding those two songs. From what I can gather, Lewis sued and won. Part of the deal was that he not disclose exactly how much he won. Years later, he did just that and HAD TO PAY IT BACK.

But I'll grant you the similarities. Also fun fact about that Jayhawks song, even though Tom wrote MJLD in the 80s, the keyboard player on both songs is Benmont Tench.

Random one but the walk on music for The Chase on U.K. TV is basically Business by Eminem Well, there's no way that could be true. *listens to the two* .... Shit, I hear it.

Hair of the Dog by Nazareth and Day Tripper by the Beatles.
When Guns N’ Roses covered Hair of the Dog, the fade out of the song is them playing Day Tripper lick, and then a sarcastic “ha-ha-ha”

I don't think these two songs have the same producer, but I have always had similar vibes regarding the beats to "I Seen a Man Die" by Scarface, and "Off Parole" by Rappin' 4-Tay.

Zack Attack's "Friends Forever" is pretty much a rip off of Dragon Sound's "Friends For Eternity".

Formerly known as...the Jimmy Hart Version trope. Have at it, knowing that. Anyway, it's a part of the song rather than all of it, but they were right about Born This Way vs. Express Yourself.

90% of the Original Doom's soundtrack are literally just midi versions of Metal Songs... some of the remaining tweaks are similar sounding songs with tweaks like Level 1 is very similar to Master of Puppets but not identical unlike several other levels.
Everyone and Weird Al have pointed out that Lady Gaga's "Born this way" is almost identical to Madonna's "Express Yourself".
"Blurred Lines" by Robin Thicke was sued by Stevie Wonder's estate for sounding too similar to :Gotta Give it Up." which... I'm not sure it actually really does sound like it enough to claim copyright like that...

What was the song on Kiss's Physco Circus that copied Alice Cooper's 18? I remember the publishers of 18 sued Kiss over it.

Stevie Wonder's "Part Time Lover" and Hall & Oates' "Maneater" And of course, there's also the Skullgirls song.
