I've heard some people say this prior to Cody but him saying it here puts a big spotlight on it.

The Renaissance Era always came off as a dumb name not only because it's always weird when people name eras for stuff that's still ongoing but also, whilst the Attitude Era was named because it was shedding the cartoon-style past of the 80s and mid 90s, Renaissance Era screams "We used to be shit but we're good now" which I don't think is the intention but it really comes off that way.

Yeah but it's also true tho. But you don't want to put that out there! It'd be like if the Attitude Era was called the "This isn't your Dad's pro wrestling" era.

What do we call the era when Triple H said I was the Authority and then took none of my ideas?
My pitch is it was The Liar's Era.

I feel like the Attitude Era is kind of a weird blip that's impossible to actually pin down the real start or end of in the first place and past that pretty much every attempt to put the time period neatly in some specific box ever since has been forced and meaningless.

In other words: its the same logic as it being the New generation, and not the almost bankrupt era. That’s a much better analogy! Especially since they also named it before it even really started!

Honestly the last 5 Years can be called Dusty's "Fault" because the biggest stars in Wrestling(Cody, Roman, Mox, Becky, Charlotte, Banks/Mone, Seth) can be tied directly to Rhodes somehow. And that's not even including the hand in helping talents like Bray, Big E, Finn, Kevin Owens, Bayley, Sami, etc.

I’m just glad that the crowd is hot for almost everything. Really adds to my enjoyment of the show.

Reminds me of that great photo shoot picture when so many new (to WWE) stars were all champions. Granted it lasted like two weeks, but it was such a cool visual, and gave one a sense of real change.

Yeah the attitude Era had a new look, feel, style, wrestlers, format etc From the outside it doesn't seem to be anything particularly new these days, it's just done better and without Vince's direct influence. Wm is mostly featuring long established wrestlers. It'll still feel familiar to people that haven't followed in 5, maybe even 10 years. The only real exception I'm aware of is Logan Paul and a prime logo on the mat. That would feel out of place before covid.

That’s exactly why it works! Lol Yeah but it's also true tho. But you don't want to put that out there! It'd be like if the Attitude Era was called the "This isn't your Dad's pro wrestling" era. ..that was the sentiment underneath it though. That’s ..why it worked lol Anyway, OP - you read my mind. I saw Cody say it in that recent clip, and he’s said it before, but for some reason I had the same thought: That’s what it is. It’s kind of perfect. I think it’ll go down as just the HHH era but it’s quite the appropriate name.
