The Renaissance Era always came off as a dumb name not only because it's always weird when people name eras for stuff that's still ongoing but also, whilst the Attitude Era was named because it was shedding the cartoon-style past of the 80s and mid 90s, Renaissance Era screams "We used to be shit but we're good now" which I don't think is the intention but it really comes off that way. That’s exactly why it works! Lol But you don't want to put that out there! It'd be like if the Attitude Era was called the "This isn't your Dad's pro wrestling" era. ..that was the sentiment underneath it though. That’s ..why it worked lol. Honestly, that feels like a massive cop-out. “It’s mostly the same product but it’s slightly better than before” isn’t the transition it was from New Generation to Attitude Era, especially with a product that mostly looks the same as it did when Vince was around and only making slightly more money.

Yeah, what's really different now from like 2 years ago? or 3? even like 5 years? the only real Era post Attitude I can think of would be John Cena as the Ace followed by the Roman Reigns on Top Era.

I saw Cody say it in that recent clip, and he’s said it before, but for some reason I had the same thought: That’s what it is. It’s kind of perfect. I think it’ll go down as just the HHH era but it’s quite the appropriate name. All he has to do is cut a promo saying it (or have Cole say it or something) and boom, that's it.

Yeah but it's also true tho. But you don't want to put that out there! It'd be like if the Attitude Era was called the "This isn't your Dad's pro wrestling" era. Maybe it would be a good thing because they are removing themselves from Vince?

I mean, a lot of people there still follow Vince’s philosophy in terms of how to put together a show, it just happens to be clicking better now than it did before. A new era that don’t make.

We can just deem 2002 through 2022 the Dude That Old Pervert F***ing Sucked, Huh? Era. Hey, that’s not accurate. 2002 - 2007 - First DTOPFSH Era 2008 - 2022 - DTOPFSH HD era. Let’s not distort facts here.

Complete change in production including commentary, advertising, technical production, the way the company operates. Transitioning from one of the darkest tenure of backstage morale and comfortability to several describing it as the highest morale and teamwork unity A slight more focus on workrate in matches Going from spiting the audience to leaning in with it Going from a culture where wrestlers push through debilitating injuries to matches immediately being stopped. The Rock being one of the top executives of the company. Focus on a variety of women including revolving entire episodes of Smackdown or raw around them Going from a scripted and claustrophobic avenue for both commentators and wrestlers to a seemingly mix of competent creative and wrestlers/commentators input. A streak of quality PLEs that im genuinely not sure what period or set of years compared The endeavor acquisition Blood and cursing being used more frequently The elevation of every ranking division: main event scene, mid card, lower card. Across the landscape. The most loosening of working or acknowledging other wrestling companies Long term storytelling and audiences rewarded for paying attention I don’t know how anyone watches from 2015-2020/2021ish and cannot acknowledge the radical recent change. Edit: forgot one. Quality episodes of RAW & SD. That includes RAW. Which is three hours f***ing long.

I mean, a lot of people there still follow Vince’s philosophy in terms of how to put together a show, it just happens to be clicking better now than it did before. A new era that don’t make. I tend to disagree. I feel like this new era of WWE kicked off in late summer of 2022, when Triple H was clearly in control rehiring those who'd been let go by the previous administration and literally dumping title belts in (or near) the trash to signify that times had changed. Yes, on the surface the show looks a lot like it did in 2021 and early 2022, but it's the sense that things have been changing for the better before our eyes over the last year and a half, both in terms of how the wrestlers are presented and how the storylines evolve, that really shows we're in a new era. I mean, Vince McMahon's "The Cure for the Common Show" address largely was sh*tting on prior eras, saying things like "We in the WWF think that you, the audience, are quite frankly tired of having your intelligence insulted," and "Surely, the era of the superhero who urged you to say your prayers and take your vitamins is definitely passe."

Hell, one of the ad campaigns for the New Generation was essentially shitting on the past by mocking Hulk Hogan and Macho Man for being over the hill has-beens who couldn’t keep up with the New Generation.

Makes me think people haven’t been watching over the years (and/or now) if they think things aren’t radically different and don’t feel like a “new era.”

I'd call it the piñata era: exciting to look at, intriguing to think about what's inside, but once it gets hit by something hard, like reality, all the fun stuff falls away, and you're only left with a completely empty husk.

I’d consider 2014-2020 (pre pandemic) one era (Brock as the most dominant even though the plans were to push a face Roman, One night Wrestlemania’s, the Shield guys were main eventing, return of the brand split, renessance of Indy guys on the roster, a push towards women’s wrestling) and 2020-present another (beginning of two night manias, AEW on the scene now so talent have been going back and forth, Punk’s return and controversy that followed, Vince leaving then returning and then getting booted again, and ofcourse Tribal Chief Roman and his title run). I feel like Mania 40 could be the beginning of a new era if the guy who’s been champ for the last 4 years loses, as well as Rock coming back to the board and the beginning of a post Vince wwe
