This. Jerry Lawler was making great money from his early 20's onward and he is in his mid 70's now. If he never earned a penny besides Social Security checks for the rest of his life he will still die a rich man who's family will get a substanial inheritance. I mean so was Flair and he's bankrupt. Lawler may not have the party lifestyle as Flair but he does have three ex wives. Doesn't Flair have six, though? And cocaine is expensive

Over/under on us getting one last Flair vs Lawler match? (which would be maybe their 5th ever, right?)

I think a lot of his mid '90s commentary still holds up, especially the jokes about the Hart Family. Those crack me up still. The Bret/Lawler feud was GOLD! His jokes about Jake were also hilarious. "C'mon McMahon. The only reason why Jake "The Snake" Roberts doesn't drink & drive anymore is because he is afraid he might hit a bump and spill his drink."

Just as well honestly. Hadn’t been good since the very second Road Dogg uttered the word “puppies”. And hell it’s not like the man is hurting for money.

Did Jerry Lawler ever wrestle again after his heart attack?
I'm sure he teased it a few times.
Honestly as a person there was always something kinda creepy about him.
Still for his sake I hope he takes it easy from here on in.

Did Jerry Lawler ever wrestle again after his heart attack? There was a match against Scott Steiner a few years ago. Can't recall if they did much but they were in the ring together. Jerry had an appearance at a ball park, I think in Memphis. He donned his ring gear but not sure if he had a match. I do recall he came out on a horse.

Yeah, Lawler was apparently Mick Foleylike in his cheapness on the road and, as others mentioned, he's a teetotaler. He's been financially secure for years, Tennessee isn't exactly known for it's crazy high cost of living I remember a Confidential story where they showed off his house and Coca Cola collection. Nice normal suburban house. No drinking and partying on the road. Pretty sure at least one ex wife has remarried so no alimony there. He should be fine with retirement. Do some autograph shows and the like for extra cash if he needs it.

Flair never kept a dime he owned and blew entire fortunes on suits for decades, Lawler wears those crappy design tees that go right off the Walmart rack and onto his body where they stay until the material degrades to the point that the threads no longer exists in the physical realm, I'm sure those savings add up.

I feel like labeling Lawler as “the puppies guy,” is a bit of a gross exaggeration. Sure he really wasn’t good in the PG era, but in the ruthless agression era, he still had a lot of game left imo. I liked his role as a tweener Evolution fanboy, but had his limits of what he supported.

In the attitude era he was such a sychophantic suck up that even swifties would probably tell him to dial it back a notch. I suspect he was told to pull back in ruthless aggression because during the attitude era, he really was the "puppies" guy.

Yes he perved it up with the ladies on commentary then. No denying that. But he was also a Vince/corporation shill and sided with all the heels. In ruthless agression, some of his limits included HHH's post match attack on HBK at Summerslam 2002. He always defended JR in everything, even competing in matches just for the sake of supporting him. But in an era where people swore he was damaged goods, I find some of his best work to be his first night back after his hiatus the RAW after survivor series 2001 and the original Rock concert. But don't get me wrong. PG era Lawler without JR wasn't any good.

Hell when I think of it, would it be more accurate for us to say that King was straight up face in the ruthless aggression era and went tweener only for evolution?

That's what I meant when I said "sychophantic suckup". The dude never met a heel whose ass he didn't want to kiss and he worshipped the ground they walked on. He's probably a big part of why I usually can't stand heel/colour commentators. Still, when I think back to the attitude era my head immediately rings with 'PUPPIES JR PUPPIES". The rest takes a minute to remember. That's why to me he is forever the puppies guy. It runs roughshod over everything else including his asinine buttkissing.

I suppose I understand that, but there's still imo great work in that period from him. For the time, I don't think any other heel commentator would have been out of place. (I understand that may only reinforce your criticism haha)

I remember when the announcers (JBL and Cole) demonstrated to viewers how to download the WWE app (since downloads were down, Vince being Vince, took it to mean that the fans didn’t know how to download it) so Cole demonstrated it on TV. Jerry (perhaps knowing that this segment was silly and a waste of time) said something along the lines of “We know you fans know how to download it. We just wanted to show you.”

Over/under on us getting one last Flair vs Lawler match? (which would be maybe their 5th ever, right?) In fairness, Lawler seems to be an extremely safe worker if he's not hitting you with a throne

In fairness, Lawler seems to be an extremely safe worker if he's not hitting you with a throne Generally, though he did break Heyman and Jimmy Hart's jaws with punches. Jimmy Hart, he insists was on accident, despite it suspiciously coming after Jimmy Hart mocked him in a promo for breaking his leg in a way seen as Jerry Jarrett reminding Lawler of his place, so he may have had ulterior motives. Still, Jerry swears it was just an accident. Heyman, he owns up to intentionally injuring.
