So I've had in the back of my mind to watch through 2000 WWF for a while. Its was the rear I got really interested in wrestling but only got to start watching in the build to Armageddon.
Any who I've been watching 2000 Raw and smackdown whilst relaxing or in the background and cooking etc etc. And gotten to the Radicalz debut on 31 Jan. A few thoughts
- god the roster feels thin. Jericho and Chyna dont feel like big deals. Big show started as the number 2 baby face and quickly became the number 2 heel. DX everywhere. Radicalz shoeing up is such a sigh of relieve.
- from the moment they debuted they made a big deal out of the radicalz being short. But good lord did not realise the Mean Street Posse were that big. In my mind eye they're tiny little dudes but they dwarf the radicals. And again... terrible logic in debuting them like that.
- Al snow being intense was dying and went to comedy with Blackman which... isnt as good as I thought it was.
- Why did Big Show decide to cosplay Gomez Addams
- Kurt is still learning but rocks already
- They gave up on Tazz instantly didn't they
-HHH still isnt fully baked. Hes doing a half passed Shane Douglasthing.
Edge doing a month long chick magnet gimmick because hes real life engaged to Val venis' sister is excellent foreshadowing.
Any who just random thoughts let me know if you have any of Jan 2000 WWF.

Big Show had a cosplay gimmick at that point, didn't he? He shows up as Hogan at Backlash 2000 I think.
Also, yeah they gave up on Tazz immediately following his debut match. He was a signing to f*** ECW, not to benefit WWF.

My favourite year in any promotion. I'd be disappointed if nothing holds up.
Did you skip the rumble?
But the 24/7 rule should be starting soon, the tag division is about to take off and a bunch of other things I won't mention for 24 year-old spoilers.

Wasn't around that time that ECW had just debuted the previous summer on TNN and that WWF was also negotiating with Viacom to put RAW on TNN at the time. The Dudleys were also kinda newish around this time too. I think the did the Big Show impressions gimmick since he was on SNL that the Rock hosted.

Kurt is still learning but rocks already There are moments in time when you have someone who goes out there on every night and is the highlight of every show...and Kurt Angle was that guy in 2000. Whether it was a match, a promo, or a segment...Kurt always delivered. He continued on in 2001 and up to 2003...but I'd say 2000 was genuinely his most fun year.

I admit I have a personal bias towards 2000 WWF.
Mainly because it's the year I got back into Wrestling after losing interest around 1996 time.
I watched every show religiously.
I'm looking forward to seeing the year 2000 on Wrestling Bios Reliving the war.. See if it really was as good as I thought or are my Nostalgia Glasses on tight?
We shall see.

That Jan-March HHH va Mick Foley feud is one of my faves of all time. Cemented HHH as a main eventer. Too Cool was also over as hell. Tazz Rumble debut was lit.

I did a rewatch of 2000 a while ago because it was my favourite year (the first time I watched Raw’s in full was 2000 up until then I just watched the weekly recap shows) and it still held up. Also WWE didn’t seem overly reliant on rematches every week as they later would.
They seemed to have the perfect roster at that time. And whilst the quality of matches would vastly improve I think 2000 was the start of WWE putting on better quality matches into the rest of the century with the likes of HHH, Angle, Benoit, Eddie, Jericho, E&C, Dudleyz, Hardyz all consistently good. The 6 man Hell in A Cell at the end of the year is one of my favourite matches just because of how hot the product was at that time.

It's kind of unreal how good it was without Austin in the fold for most of the year.

Keep an eye out for seeds of the Triple H/Kurt Angle feud over Steph. I think they start planting those as early January before not going full force with it until the summer. WWF 2000 is easily my favorite year both for storylines and in-ring.

I watched every PPV, Raw & Smackdown in the last year and half. It's still a fantastic year, creatively and I terms of match quality. I still got Goosebumps over 20 years later when Mankind did the Cactus Jack reveal. Then you got the HHH vs Rock series (ngl WM 2000 is a bad show all and all but slog thru it to get to Backlash), the debut of the ABA Undertaker, the first TLC, just so much great stuff.

One of my favorite years in WWF, everything was on fire from the midcard to the main event. Also one of my favorite highlight video packages from the Year In Review 2000 edition of Sunday Night Heat: www.youtube.com/watch?v=zMuQ058O21Q

I decided to start a watchthru the other night. Watched the first Raw and Smackdown of the year and there's still a lot of 1999-ish stuff in there, but the foundation of what was a fantastic year is there. The McMahon-Helmsley Era is rolling along, The Rock is the hottest babyface, Foley is doing the best work of his career imo, Jericho is finally starting to rebound from a rough start, Kurt Angle is hitting his stride, and Rikishi is starting to get over. The only thing I'm not keen on yet is the tag team division, but knowing it gets better is making it easier to watch.

2000 WWF, 1997 WCW and 1995 ECW should be watched by all.
However, my personal favorite year is 1998 for all of them.

Gonna have to sit down and check out ECW 1995 after I finish WWF 2000. I kinda wanna go all the way up to WrestleMania X7, since I remember all three PPVs at the start of 2001 being pretty good.

The stretch from Armageddon 2000 until WrestleMania X7 is pretty flawless.
