There’s a couple shows I wanted to watch, as I’ve heard good things. But the first episode, didn’t hook me.
I’ve heard good things about:
Always sunny in Philadelphia. You know, it’s gonna be awkward when the first episode is “the gang gets racist”. Cringe humor about assholes is a delicate balance. I’ll try again later. Jojo’s bizarre adventure. The tone of the first episode doesn’t match the wackiness of everything I’ve heard of this show, and all the weird memes and references I’ve seen out of context.
Kim’s convenience. One episode in and it’s awkward with the store owner being forced into something or else being accused of homophobia. Fresh off the boat, stopped at the part where the kids make fun of the Asians kids lunch.
Bring Asian, you’d think I’d be watching for “representation”, but shows about Asian-American people always tend to hit a little close to home and something is always off. Usually the actors, are American feigning an accent, and the actors not matching the ethnicity is noticeable to me, especially when they start sprinkling in the language.
Also, Schmidt’s creek didn’t grab me, as I don’t remember a thing about the episode I watched.

Fresh off the Boat got much better a few episodes in. I got into watching it cause she will give any show with a Asian cast a chance. Turned into one of our favorite shows when it was airing.
For me it is Babylon5.
Yea I have been told so many times that you gotta suffer thru season 1 to get to the good stuff. I can't make it past that first episode.

The oddness of the first season of Babylon 5 makes more sense in retrospect once we learned that Michael O'Hare was suffering with some severe mental illness.

I did eventually get through the plot, but seeing Hal from Malcolm in the Middle become the most powerful drug dealer in the US south was a bit of a stretch and the reason why I only got into the show during the last season.
The show was so brilliantly written that once you watch it, it's easy to get past

Jump right into season 2 and enjoy!

The Blacklist goes on for about ten seasons and has really high ratings on IMDb and RT but my two attempts at getting through the pilot have ended in tap outs as it's just sooooo bad.
I think a lot of TV from that era of 15 or so years ago has the trend of a poor start but became better because Psych, Supernatural, and American Horror Story all went on to have a ton of critical success and large fanbases but I saw nothing special in the pilots and am yet to trouble myself with E2.

He has had some people tell him it's bad and others tell him it's bang on. I had a hard time getting into parks and recreation and I was told that the first season is not very good and it gets much better in the second season. I haven't managed to get that far.

I wouldn't say pilot but I couldn't get into Schitt's Creek at all and I really did try. I found several of the main cast unbearable to watch so no amount of comedy will ever make up for that

This was a long time ago, but Game of Thrones. Watched the first episode and it didn't do anything for me. So that was it, and I never looked back.

Supernatural. Have only seen the pilot years ago and it hardly sat my world on fire.

I tried to watch Riverdale, but it just wasn't vibing with me. Which sucks, because I loved the concept of a darker, mystery-centric Archie story, but the pilot just didn't grab my attention at all.

The American Office. I've never been able to get past the mirroring of scenes from the original.

I know others in the same boat as you, where they couldnt get into it. Just in the past two weeks I watched the original special and the first two episodes and I can totally see why it would be tough to get into. I can already see seeds being planted, but there's no drive to keep going. I'll probably save it for when I feel like watching something but I'm all caught up on shows I'm following.

Heat Vision and Jack
I wanted to get into it, but I literally couldn't go further than the pilot!

Lost, though I had friends who watched it and always caught the spoilers in SFX Magazine, so I followed developments from a distance. It was a whole lot more fun reading and hearing about the show than ever seeing it.
