Patrick Duffy comes to mind. The Dallas cast did not go anywhere after but he found great success with Step By Step.
Richard Dean Anderson too. Rather than being labeled as MacGyver forever I am sure many think of him as Jack O'Neill just as much, if not more so.
Ed O'Neill could easily make one forget about Al Bundy when he played Jay on Modern Family.
David Caruso managed to recover from his ill fated attempt at a movie career quite well.

Bryan Cranston is a good example. Don't get me wrong, he was hilarious as Hal on "Malcolm in the Middle," but I think his role as Walter White on "Breaking Bad" really helped people forget about Hal.

Hal was the best character IMO and had some of the best plot lines (the speed walking one? HILARIOUS!).

Michael J Fox had Family Ties and Spin City.
David Boreanaz had Buffy/Angel (don't know if you'd count a spinoff as 2), Bones, and that Seal Team show.

Julia Louis-Dreyfus has had a ton of success, winning Emmys for Outstanding Lead Actress for three different shows: Seinfeld, The New Adventures of Old Christine, and Veep.

Ted Danson has done quite well for himself. Cheers Becker The Good Place Mr. Mayor (maybe not great but it lasted two seasons)

Rowan Atkinson having both Blackadder and Mr Bean is some good innings. I imagine UK actors will be easier to list as the shows over here aren't quite the same commitment they can be in the US.

Andre Braugher (RIP), was in police drama Homicide: Life on The Street and police comedy Brooklyn Nine Nine
Rob Lowe with The West Wing and Parks and Recreation (probably some others I'm blanking on I magine)
Kristen Bell - Veronica Mars and The Good Place (as well as House of Lies, Heroes sadly had dropped off by the time she joined)
Ron Howard - The Andy Griffith Show and Happy Days
Henry Winkler - Happy Days and Barry (great recurring oN Arrested Development)
there's others I can think of, but don't want to give you all a wall of text

I'm actually surprised no one mentioned Michael Landon yet. He was America's Dad with Bonanza, Little House on the Prairie, and Highway to Heaven.

Keeley Hawes Spooks, Tipping the Velvet, Line of Duty, Ashes to Ashes, Bodyguard, The Durrells She is one of our best actresses and very underaprechiated. Think David Jason has had great success with of course only fools, Frost, open all hours, darling buds ect.
