Final fantasy 7 Rebirth has a great action RPG buried under a horrible mini game collection.
Wild Arms is my favorite classic RPG but the translation is flat out horrible. Somehow Wild Arms 2 was no better. For that matter, my other 2 favorite PS1 era RPGs, Suikoden 2 and Final Fantasy Tactics both also have terrible translations.
Fallout New Vegas is my favorite Bethesda RPG. shame about all the serious issues the game has with slow down and flat out crashing, which gets even worse the longer you play.
Edit: completely misread the thread title as if I was asked about genuinely bad parts of games I otherwise love.

I see nothing wrong with the junction system from FFVIII. It's not even that different from how equipment or materia used to work and allows you to fine-tune your characters even more.
Speaking of, I really feel like people complaining about the draw system and how you HAVE to draw from monsters for hours is people taking Spoony's videos at face value (despite Spoony himself saying they shouldn't be taken that seriously) wihout giving it a second thought, because doing this is completely unnecessary. Nothing in the game requires you to max out your spell count so no, you don't HAVE to do this any more than you HAVE to replenish your MP after every fight in other Final Fantasy games.
On top of that, people act like fights is the only way you can draw spells, completely ignoring draw points in various locations and the overworld map, not to mention refining abilities that allow you to craft spells from items, which is by far the most convenient way to do it IMO.
So yeah, people who complain about drawing forever during fights are complaining about a problem they've created for themselves.

Mass Effect 1, I liked driving around in the Mako exploring worlds, wish they'd put a bit more on each planet but once you got used to the controls and could play with the physics it was nice.

...I liked the non Spider-Man sections of Spider-Man PS4 I don't entirely dislike them but I feel like there are too many of them and some of them just feel completely arbitrary. Stuff like Miles sneaking past a security checkpoint or MJ wandering around the museum just feels like filler while at least the missions where they're actually in danger have a point. That said by far the most frustrating one is the one where you're playing as MJ directing Peter on where to take people out from at because, like.... You could just let me play as Peter and do that directly. He's perfectly capable of doing that same kind of work on his own in the rest of the game.

Only thing I outright disliked about the Mako was fighting the Thresher Maws. But I have a lot of fondness for that tank that totally disregards the laws of physics

Supply Lines in GTA San Andreas. Yeah, I had issues with it when I was younger, but I've played it so many times, I can usually beat it on my first or second attempt.
The Water Temple in OoT is far less annoying than the ones in Majora's Mask and Twilight Princess.
People seem to really hate the ladder in MGS Snake Eater. Doesn't bother me at all.
I get issues with the camera, but I enjoy the Pachinko Game red coins in Super Mario Sunshine.
As far as things built into the game that get universal hate;
Kiddy Kong in DKC 3 Crying Baby Mario in Yoshi's Isle The collecting in Donkey Kong 64

Honestly, that part was probably my favorite of the "control someone else" parts.

The Mako is over-hated. It was great fun in combat. The general emptiness of the planets is definitely more of an issue, but considering they were practically last-minute additions I think BioWare did a decent job.

I don't know much about the background, but a few of the worlds you can see they put a lot into. Some can be a bit generic, but some you can just gaze around and they're beautiful.

IIRC the Mako was originally used in a handful of missions and general feedback was that the game was too short, so in the last few months of development the extra worlds were thrown together for N7 side-missions. These are fairly easy to spot because the interior sections all use the same room layout with different obstacle placing to add variation, they lack any kind of voice acting besides generic combat dialogue, and all "plot" progression is done via text boxes.

After reading so many complaints about VIII being a game where you HAVE to grind I started to worry that I was the weird one. I’ve completed VIII 10+ times since its initial release and never once have I sat on a battle just hit the draw command until I get to 100 like I have seen some people do. Also, auto junction works great, so if you don’t get/don’t want to get the junction system, auto will do a perfectly good job! To provide my own answer, I’ve never struggled with the Bevelle Cloister in Final Fantasy X. Again, I’ve read and seen so many complaints online and never once have I had to use a guide or raged during it.

I was surprised how much hate Demolition Man gets in GTA Vice City. I rack up the “people wasted by others” stats with the chopper blades, then blow the building up with about 3 minutes to spare. And some people put it on par with San Andreas’ Supply Lines mission.

Hi, yes, I'm the person that enjoyed the Big the Cat fishing sections in Sonic Adventure.
After all the running around and treasure hunting, I just appreciated the change of pace.

I'm ok with the poisonous swamp in "Dark Souls 3" and with most of the poisonous areas in "Elden Ring".

And some people put it on par with San Andreas’ Supply Lines mission. The easiest way to do that mission is to work top to bottom, since the top floors can be difficult to navigate when you're racing the clock, but do it the opposite way and it's incredibly easy.

I remember when we played Vice City with friends, even when it was their turn, they'd usually hand me the controller when a mission required handling helicopters, lol.

On the topic of San Andreas, the flight school. Maybe not the funnest portion of the game but I’ve seen many people say they completely quit at that part. Didn’t think it was that difficult or bad.

Keeping the San Andreas theme going, the “All you had to do was follow the train” mission. I found the secret is to not drive directly on the tracks, but just to the right of them to give Smoke more range.
