Here is something that I want to talk about. Some of the time, when watching videos on YouTube, you'll find yourself getting into things you never thought you would get into. I recall that in 2019, I found myself getting into scary story videos where you would hear someone read a story about something that either actually happened or is just a story someone made up. For the latter, it doesn't make things less interesting. For all we know, it was written by an aspiring author, but I digress.
What I found myself getting into were police cam videos. How I got into them was that I watch Daywave Radio, and they sometimes show those videos on the streams. Watching police cam videos can be entertaining for the wrong reasons, but then I found other ones where the cops are in the wrong.
Any examples of discovering other interests on YouTube?

Last year I started getting into woodworking videos, to the point where I'm seriously considering taking it up as a hobby.

I've been trying to lean to play guitar. And I've been watching videos about that. I’m still not very good. But it’s fun just playing simple chords.

Two that I never thought would catch my interest would be initially watching uploads of the openings and closings to VHS releases of Disney or other related family friendly films/TV shows as a nostalgia trip seeing what trailers and such they would contain. This span off into discovering, at random, a channel that had recreated the v rolls that play on the big screen before movies made up of adverts and trailers in UK cinemas, not just from Odeon, Cineworld and the like but also for chains that no longer exist like the Warner and MGM ones.

Sometimes I'll watch videos of someone driving in like Tokyo at night and it's just dash footage of them driving on the road. It's such a chill thing.

I'm a traditional Metal Head. Sometime when I'm viewing,/listening to a video, a cool album/track cover or name ctahes my attention. "Hmmm, what's this?"
10/10, it turns out to be awesome, even if it's 'softer' than what I usually listens to.

It's probably 10/15 years since I played the Sims in any form but I find Sims house build videos really relaxing

What about when a YouTuber starts off making one type of content and then it changes?
There was a guy who used to just talk about the business of sports stadiums and his videos slowly shifted to 9/11 content and now that's all he posts.

While not huge into them anymore I do enjoy video games. Mostly stuff made pre 2005.
back in 2020 got into watching videos about speedrunning games. Never gonna try to speed run a game. Never gonna watch someone do it. But Summoning Salt does a 3 hour video on someone doing a blindfold Tyson speed run and I will watch.

I've been watching a lot of PC build and repair videos lately and that mostly came from researching a new video card.

For a reason I do not know, I watch a guy play Mario Maker every Saturday he posts a video. I haven’t played a Mario game since Mario 64, I’m not into gaming, somehow I just started watching.

For the longest time I watched a guy who was obsessed with Lift/Elevators. He knew the names of all the different types. Would surf them and had keys for them etc.
For most of us they are just things that take you from one floor to another, but this guy was super passionate about them.
Not to mention he was from my local area in real life.

Nearly subscribed to him one time but then I saw he did pro orange man vids so was like.. nah. Shame as his 9/11 vids are interesting.

His 9/11 content is not bad, but maybe that should be on another channel. It's just such a different type of content

The VHS openings was just a playlist when I done a search for ‘Disney VHS Openings’, the cinema reel channel is called UKRetroReels

Music reaction videos. There's a few that I like, the people seem authentic. Ones an opera singer and I like how she breaks down how the vocalizing is done.
Since that viral video of the judge catching the guy with a suspended license driving during his Zoom court appearance, I've been checking out court cam channels.

I've eaten Indian food at least twice a week since I was 18, but with the range of restaurants and how going out for a curry is a social thing where I'm from I never learned how to cook it, until 22 years later when due to lockdown I found myself addicted to this channel. www.youtube.com/channel/UC95tDLezE8WD3p3tBRBVjfw
