ROFL!!! OK, that's Gold. But oh, so true. They need to get to work on the crap movies before they remake the good ones. Start with Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band and then we'll talk. Oh you didn't know? They've got to do an EVIL DEAD remake first. And part of me dies every time I read that sentence somewhere.

Huh, you taught me something Dino, I thought I had an original thought with the Logan's Run thing. I do think an updated version with today's technology could be smooth.

I mean it. They might have gone too far for you earlier. Black Christmas might have been your breaking point. Perhaps it was way back when they remade The Hills Have Eyes... Now they're remaking the Hitcher. The Hitcher. ...I really don't know how to stress how lame that is. The Hitcher, the original, C. Thomas Howell/Rutger Hauer flick, was really good. Like, great even. I loved it. It was just fine on it's own. The whole purpose of remakes, or so I've been told, is to make the former movie better. The Hitcher was fine on it's own. C. Thomas Howell gets chased by creepy Rutger Hauer for two hours. It's good stuff. It holds up pretty well, y'know? I'm not trying to say I'm going to try and get this film banned, or I'm boycotting it, I'm trying to say, this one is a bit too far. Probably. PS. I just saw the commercial for it today, which is why I'm ranting about it now. If this isn't news to anyone, sorry, I just think the idea of remaking it was really ridiculous and gay. I totally agree...but as you mentioned Black Christmas I as well would like to vent my frustration with the new remake...Wow how the hell can they mess that up? Its a simple methodical concept and they still managed to screw up everything regarding the original, and the hideous backstory they gave Billy almost made me set the theater on fire...

Too true. But it's ok to do things like this, but what do you think would happen had someone redone the JEFFERSONS with a poor, white trash family movin' on up? You'd hear cries of "Whitewashing!" and "RACIST HOLLYWOOD!". Double standards piss me off and make me laugh at the same time. They already have something about a poor white trash family movin on up. Its called the Beverly Hillbillies. And I wouldnt mid seeing an Sanford and Son remake with Ben Stiller and Robert Deniro.

Watch, I bet you anything, at the end when the girl (seems the main characters a girl this time), is about to shoot Ryder and kill him, she'll say some bs action movie line that no one would ever really say like "You get off here" or some crap. In the original it was awesome, no cheesy lines, just shot him and didnt say a word as the sun was going down...

I hate when they say "From the makers of Texas Chainsaw Massacre." And they mean Michael Bay.
If it was Tobe Hooper or something, that'd be cool. But if it's not from the makers of the original, they should specify.
And again, I don't particularly have a problem with remakes. If they had given it a different title, I don't think people would be making such a fuss over it.

They're going to start remaking the remakes pretty soon.
"From the producer of the remake of The Hills Have Eyes, comes...The Hills Have Eyes!"
~lots of quick MTV-style cuts~

Remakes can be good. Dawn of the Dead (2004) I also need to point out (for the millionth time)...every Hammer remake to a Universal classic. And the Kurt Russell "Thing." And the Jeff Goldblum "Fly."

It's ok to turn THE HONEYMOONERS into a BET-friendly flick. But no way in HELL would Hollywood ever dream of race-switching THE JEFFERSONS or GOOD TIMES or WHAT'S HAPPENIN'. You imagine the stink folks would raise if they had Larry the Cable Guy playing Rerun?

Cedric the Entertainer is just not funny. Larry, in addition to being not funny, is utterly annoying.

I just want Evil Dead 4, thats just a remake right? In Italy, Evil Dead I and II were released as "La Casa I and II." Italian film producers then made "La Casa III, IV, and V." So, in a way, Evil Dead IV already exists. And it's a hilariously bad movie.

Meh. It could get a lot worse than The Hitcher. There have been rumors of a Butch & Sundance remake with Damon and Affleck and a 7 Year Itch remake with Paris Hilton. I think my head would explode a'la Scanners if either of those ever materialized...

eventually they will have remade every movie possible. when we hear them remaking "gone with the wind, the searchers, or casablanca" then we will know they have no where else to go. unless they remake "birth of a nation"..........with cedric the entertainer as the leader of the KKK.
i can understand remaking a film that originally wasn't that good, if they can make it better. but it won't happen.
and as long as vapid america has money they will watch these crap remakes and crap sequels.

I'm gonna see it. Platinum Dunes did a good job with the Texas Chainsaw Massacre and this doesn't look too bad either so why not.

Remakes can be good. Dawn of the Dead (2004) I also need to point out (for the millionth time)...every Hammer remake to a Universal classic. And the Kurt Russell "Thing." And the Jeff Goldblum "Fly." Also The Blob, Invasion of the Bodysnatchers, Scarface, Ocean's Eleven, and Brewster's Millions Heck there are even respected classics that are infact remakes, The Maltese Falcon and The Ten Commandments come to mind. Another thing "Hollywood" much like the "IWC" is not a singular entity. Hollywood isn't "out of ideas" when someone remakes a film, these things come about usually because some guy says "I liked that movie way back then, I'd be cool if I made it with a few twists..." or in the case of Foreign films it's some director from some other Country wanting his low budget film to be made into a high budget Hollywood flick, who'd pass that up? And really if they are that out of ideas why is the top 100 films this year full of original films? Look at the list it's not that full of remakes, theres a few, but jeeze nothing to get unhinged about. While I'm on this train of thought, more often then not when a film is remade it gives new life to the original, almost all the original films that have been remade lately have had brand new deluxe edition DVDs come out to coincide with the release of the remake. Do you think Ju-On or Ringu would have gotten American DVD releases without the hype of the remakes or would War of the Worlds gotten a swanky new DVD to go with the new movie? Far from "ruining" these films, remakes more often then not give new life to the old films by giving a new audience or even fresh love from old fans. Before the remake when was the last time you watched and preached the virtues of The Wicker Man? Seriously....
