I mean it. They might have gone too far for you earlier. Black Christmas might have been your breaking point. Perhaps it was way back when they remade The Hills Have Eyes... Now they're remaking the Hitcher. The Hitcher.
...I really don't know how to stress how lame that is. The Hitcher, the original, C. Thomas Howell/Rutger Hauer flick, was really good. Like, great even. I loved it. It was just fine on it's own. The whole purpose of remakes, or so I've been told, is to make the former movie better. The Hitcher was fine on it's own. C. Thomas Howell gets chased by creepy Rutger Hauer for two hours. It's good stuff. It holds up pretty well, y'know?
I'm not trying to say I'm going to try and get this film banned, or I'm boycotting it, I'm trying to say, this one is a bit too far. Probably.
PS. I just saw the commercial for it today, which is why I'm ranting about it now. If this isn't news to anyone, sorry, I just think the idea of remaking it was really ridiculous and gay.

I hear ya there. The first one with Rutger was awesome. They went a little too far with "The Hitcher Part 2" with Jake Busey. At least C. Thomas Howell was in that one (but not for long!) I'm tired of all the remakes and crap. at least the "Revenge of the Nerds" remake was cancelled. Why in the hell would you remake that film when the first one was good enough!? They are remaking "The Thing" Again! The wanna redo "Friday the 13th". It's just stupid. I'm waiting for the remake of "The Godfather" with Cedric "The Entertainer" and X-ibit!

'Tis never a good thing to hear "From the people who brought you THE TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE".....and then see the name MICHAEL BAY in the credits.
This looks to be more of the same type of stuff, too.....instead of genuine horror, we get cheap "stingers" and sound cue scares.
That crap annoys the hell outta me. It's like Hollywood has said "We have no idea how to write horror, so let's thow in about seventeen different LOUD NOISE out of nowhere moments. That way, we get the reaction shots for the commercials and we can claim our movie is so scary it'll make you jump right out of your seat!"
BLEH.

This may come off wrong, but I hate the theory of replacing a white cast with an all black cast. Case in point The Honeymooners and the up coming Back to School remake with Cederick the Entertainer. The movies would have sucked no matter what, its just the Hollywood trend that bothers me.

I feel bad for Sean Bean. He doesn't deserve this.

There's just no more new ideas in Hollywood. Or elsewhere it seems like.

A movie I think could be a cool remake is Logan's Run.. yeah, I watched it last night for the first time in awhile and thought, an update of this could be really cool. Though I don't think anyone's clamoring for it.

The worse thing about the movie is than I think the dude gets torn apart by the truck now. Because a woman getting torn apart by a truck didn't test well.
Seriously, f*** Hollywood.

But it's ok to do things like this, but what do you think would happen had someone redone the JEFFERSONS with a poor, white trash family movin' on up? You'd hear cries of "Whitewashing!" and "RACIST HOLLYWOOD!". Double standards piss me off and make me laugh at the same time.

Though I don't think anyone's clamoring for it. Stupid ol' Bryan Singer and his poor attempt at making a new Superman turned that opportunity down. He needs to be punished for not being involved in a good movie since The Usual Suspects.

I don't mind remakes. I don't watch them but their existance does nothing to me.

Which reminds me, is anyone else sick of that generic 'male scream' that's in every horror movie now that NO HUMAN CAN POSSIBLY REPRODUCE? You know, the one that just gets louder and higher as it goes on....

Something tells me Hollywood would be destroyed if they even joked about remaking The Godfather.

I agree, especially since the person remaking the Hitcher is the remake Kryptonite himself, Mr. Michael Bay. ROFL!!! OK, that's Gold. But oh, so true. They need to get to work on the crap movies before they remake the good ones. Start with Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band and then we'll talk.
