Who do you think is the all time greatest world champion? I did not add Muhammad Ali to the list because I think he will win by a landslide. I know Rocky Balboa is fake, but I had to add him because Rocky is my favorite movie. If wanted to add other such as Ezzard Charles, James "Buster" Douglas (as a joke), Nikolai Valuev (current champ), John Ruiz, Leon Spinks (underrated), and Lennox Lewis (only world champ from the UK). I didn’t add them because I thought no one ever heard about them. I did want to add Apollo Creed and Clubber Lang, but I ran out of room.

Great topic, as I'm kind of a historical boxing buff. As an aside, I seriously wish that there was just one boxing company, like there used to be when it was just the WBA - now I seriously cannot keep track of all the various champions and such with the WBC and IBF out there.
Out of your list, I voted for Joe Frazier, as I truly do believe that he was superior to Ali in terms of overall ability, and his vicious left hook was something to behold. I was leaning toward Louis because of his long reign - 1937-1949 - but went with Frazier in the end. If I had to pick one, since your topic is "world champions" and doesn't list a weight class, I would definitely have to say that Sugar Ray Robinson is definitely, pound for pound, the greatest fighter who ever lived. Roy Jones Jr. was actually giving him a run for his money in that category until Ruiz knocked him out.
ADDED: Although I prefer Frazier to Ali, I also need to make it be known that I really feel sorry for Ali that he fell victim to the classic boxers' mistake - staying in the ring too long, which definitely shows now. Frazier did not fall prey to this, and retired after 36 fights compared to Ali's 61.

Rocky Marciano cause he was unbeatable.
Clarence: Oh there they go. There they go, every time I start talkin 'bout boxing, a white man got to pull Rocky Marciano out their ass. That's their one, that's their one. Rocky Marciano. Rocky Marciano. Let me tell you something once and for all. Rocky Marciano was good, but compared to Joe Louis, Rocky Marciano ain't crap.
Yes thanks for that Clarence. But for the record Rocky Marciano beat Joe Louis' ass.
Clarence: f*** YOU!!!

Even though Tyson is a total joke now, in his prime (Im talking his days as an unstoppable monster), he probably would have mowed down everyone else on that list.
People now cant appreciate how nasty Tyson was

I was going to vote for Evander, until I saw Balboa. Had to vote for Rocky, but Holyfield was a warrior.

Leon Spinks UNDERRATED? Guy became a hasbeen so damned quickly. And Braddock on the poll with these guys?
I went with Foreman actually, as his two reigns proved so much about the guy - in the 70s he starched everyone till he faced Ali, and that included some guys that seriously troubled/beat Ali, and in his second reign he totally changed (out of necessity) and became a much cleverer fighter.
Tyson, on his day, could've starched anyone on the list, but I don't neccessarily think he would have done so - unless someone boxed clever, Foreman would have too much for Iron Mike, probably Marciano and Louis too. Holyfield was a clever boxer, but wouldn't have trouble Foreman due to size... Braddock wouldn't have gotten past 3 in with George. Frazier... well, we know how THAT went down. And Rocky Balboa isn't a real person, so I'm not counting him.

What about Jack Johnson? Sure he was way before our time but that guy looked threatening.

The obvious answer is Rocky Balboa, the only fictional character to be a city's sports hero.
But not sure who I'd pick though. Tyson was indeed tough until people actually fought back. The problem was people were already beaten before they stepped into the ring due to intimidation.

What about Jack Johnson? Sure he was way before our time but that guy looked threatening. Agreed. The man was an absolute beast - champ from 1908-1915, and the first black champion to boot. He was also one of the first heavyweight boxers to box a defensive style - before him, most people just swung wildly and hoped to connect. Johnson changed all that, as he preferred to wait for his opponents to make mistakes and then capitalize. I love this topic, btw. Here's some other boxers who didn't get much love from the poll: Jack Dempsey - Not the greatest boxer of all-time, but he was definitely the biggest legitimate bad-ass perhaps in the history of the sport. Won the championship in 1919 from Jess Willard in the first heavyweight title fight that actually had to be stopped because one opponent was hurting so badly (Willard). Floyd Patterson - Lightning-quick boxer, and also historicall significant as he was the first two-time heavyweight champion after regaining his title in 1960. Larry Holmes - Very nearly matched Rocky Marciano's record for consecutive victories to open a career - stopping just short after first posting a 48-0 record and losing his 49th fight in a VERY questionable decision. One of the most dominant fighters of the '80s.
