That's an incredibly generous rating for the 10 person tag in the pre-show lol.

That's an incredibly generous rating for the 10 person tag in the pre-show lol. Yeah, like, it was fine but as someone there, I remember way more of the 16 man tag than that so it’s a weird one. And count me in with the people who think Storm/May was at least 4 stars. Arguably the easiest 4 star you can give to a match on the show. Swerve/Danielson was an easy 5 for the record.

Dave clearly has his tastes. Always amuses me how people get worked up by his ratings (not this thread obviously, more in general).
Like I enjoyed the tag title more then most, and thought the womens world title was good but wasn't AMAZING. So I can kinda understand the ratings for those but I'd have given them both 4 stars personally

Obviously he's just one guy and this is all subjective but yeah I think he's a bit all over the place there.
I agree with Ospreay/MJF as a 5, everything was hit to absolute perfection in a great atmosphere with a great finish. I think if say Danielson/Eddie at Revolution was like ****3/4, think that was what Dave gave it, then 5 is definitely fair for Will/Max.
The Toni/Mariah rating is just silly, he gave Rosa/Toni over 4 stars and the Toni/Mariah match was clearly superior.
Why is Jack/Darby like 2 stars when Darby/Jeff a few years back that was similar length that also jumped into just spot after spot and yet was 4 stars by his metric? Similar with Jericho and Nick Gage really.
Also think the Mercedes/Britt rating is stupid really, it was too long and the crowd were worn out but it wasn't a botch fest or anything even like that, I watched it back earlier and it actually has a lot of cool spots.
Ladder match rating is a bit generous for me, I'd have it as 4 on the nose because everyone worked really hard and it had a great ending, but the belts were very low which meant basically no spots off the ladder. Think that's a similar rating to what he gave a couple of the early TLC's which is a little bit weird, it wasn't as good as those.
Think Swerve/Danielson was quite a lot better than just over 5 but knowing what Meltzer favours in terms of in ring work I don't think it's a big deal. The Cagematch rating of that match is closer to how I view it. Same with Mariah/Toni.
I think the tag title is generous but not by loads, that was one I felt was very underrated on here.

The tag match being higher than the women's world title match is certainly a choice Dave made. These ratings always mean nothing, so whatever, but it is fascinating to see how Dave's mind works.

Swerve Danielson is obviously 5 stars plus. Looking at it objectively though Ospreay vs Danielson was a better match bell to bell but last weeks match had a level of emotion and drama that is impossible to replicate.
It depends what value the most in wrestling match.

I'm not really one for star ratings but I probably wouldn't even give the tag title match half of that personally. The spot with Caster being everyone's tag partner was basically the only thing in it at all worth seeing, otherwise it was just too long, dull, and ended on the limpest note possible.

Also think the Mercedes/Britt rating is stupid really, it was too long and the crowd were worn out but it wasn't a botch fest or anything even like that, I watched it back earlier and it actually has a lot of cool spots. My hot take is that I liked it. Heck, I'd argue it was good. I think they did what they could with what they had and got my section at least at the end. I agree it was too long but when people said it should have been after the ladder match instead of May/Storm, I'm baffled by it. You weren't going to get the same reactions they got after the ladder match after MJF/Ospreay, no chance. And considering something had to go in that spot, it was either the tag titles or that and they made the right choice.

The Storm/May rating baffles me. I thought it was an easy 5. And the tag match is too high; I thought it was 3.5. The rest I'm ok with.
Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to go online and rage that "Uncle Dave" didn't give Storm/May 5 stars..........................no wait, that's stupid. Instead, I'm just gonna be ok with it and say that's Dave's opinion like a normal rational adult.

I think he overrated the Trios and Tag Titles matches a little bit, but to each his own. Don't have a problem with any of the others.

Yeah, Dave's got his preferences, and one of them is crazy ass PWG style multi-man matches. I dig those, though, but I didn't think the preshow 10 man or the tag title match were great examples of them, so it feels generous.
And yeah, count me as someone who'd have put Mariah/Toni at least at four stars, if not better. Thought it was worked great and the drama/story for it was all there.
But, hey, different strokes and all. Some people are going to melt down over 'em, but I always see it like how people would always react to online reviews for movies/books/games/etc. over the years - too many people read the final review score, but don't actually listen to what the reviewer is saying about what they thought really worked or didn't. Not much point getting caught up in the numbers, reading or listening to what a reviewer/critic has to say is usually much more interesting.
