If you mean the one from the 80s, it was released in full some years back.

If we're talking "pureblood" releases too, there's a couple of WKRP episodes where we must keep circulating the tapes.

Idk, whats the difference between physical media and digital considering Shout has 24/7 lives of the show along with RiffTrax, Cinematic Titanic, and has other episodes in their own video Those streams are not near the entire series run. Idk they've covered a lot because every time I tune in its almost always something different.

From what I understand, the reason why Mighty Max never got any kind of home video release and is not available streaming anywhere is because of a lot of confusion over who actually owns the rights to the show anymore. Nobody knows and nobody feels it's worth spending the money to find out. I always like being reminded this show existed.

Those VH1 "I love the ____" series. WAYYYY too much copyrighted material and music, they'd have to clear every celebrity who comments, and a lot of those comments would NOT go over with the copyright owners, let alone the audience.

Hollywood only releasing shows in HD quality probably makes sure plenty of shows will never see a release due to not being deemed worth the effort and cost.

Doctor Who. Because there’s so many missing episodes thanks to the BBC and their tape-wiping ways. Same reason we’ll never get The Likely Lads, Dad’s Army or Hancock’s Half Hour. Sometimes I wonder with the increase of technology, can they somehow recover recordings on the original tapes they used, or are they gone forever. Unfortunately not. Wiping or re-recording changes the polarity of the particles of metal in the tape and there's no way of recovering the previous polarities. It's not impossible for them to turn up, Metropolis has been 95% recovered now and that's from 1927, but it's also not necessarily likely.

Beyond just lack of interest, is there any specific reason why Herman's Head couldn't get a home release? Not really. Just that it was a failed sitcom from the 90s that had mixed reviews. Even in the 2000s glory days of DVD releases where many past TV shows were getting full releases, not every show was so lucky, especially shows that were seen as flops back in their day. Herman's Head isn't really seen a hidden gem to the level of say a Freaks And Geeks where a DVD of said show would definitely sell well.

The state. They had a DVD release of the series but all the music has to be changed. "We are on MTV and have access to all this cool music" was a good idea at the time. Idk, whats the difference between physical media and digital considering Shout has 24/7 lives of the show along with RiffTrax, Cinematic Titanic, and has other episodes in their own video Those streams are not near the entire series run. I'm pretty sure they did an every episode ever stream. But even that had to skip the Netflix seasons.

Telltale sign: are the Godzilla movies there? If so, (WHOEVER) did some rights magic right there. Probably shows that have seasons that are too big. Soaps and game shows for two. Maybe WRESTLING too? WWF Superstars of Wrestling, yep, pre-1992. You know why. When Twitch had a Mister Rogers' Neighborhood marathon, they skipped the Conflict week, soooooo... Saturday Supercade is another IP rights Mashup. The Puppy's Further/Greatest Adventures. No one has done it yet, so...no interest? Rights issues with the original ABC Weekend Specials or original stories? The Hanna-Barbera Little Rascals, again rights issues. Disney seems to not want to acknowledge the 1982 Incredible Hulk series for...reasons?? The original It's Your First Kiss, Charlie Brown. With Peppermint Patty's insults intact. No one has tried to include the two original Fat Albert specials anywhere. Anything with music rights or material from "another time" will at least cause compromising.

It's not that they didn't acknowledge them it's that they can't stream them because of the contracts with Netflix. Though I believe they were released on DVD. They did air the last season with the rotating hosts and the green screened set. I am not sure on Godzilla my guess would be no, but I didn't watch the entire like 2 week stream.

Those streams are not near the entire series run. I'm pretty sure they did an every episode ever stream. They did not. Will Washington (who died last year and had a complicated legacy) would never let them in any form re-air Rocketship X-M, and there's a widow who has the rights to 5-6 of the movies they riffed in the 90s and flatout refuses to have anything to do with the show. The only reason 'Quest for the Delta Knights' is able to stream without a physical release is the unique situation where nobody knows who actually has the rights and nobody who they thought did actually did, so they figure it's a calculated risk worth streaming but not worth a physical release.

Honestly, given that they'd never get the music rights to any songs used in the show, it's better off see: Daria, Beverly Hills 90210

Some of the stock music they use is painful. LOL The first few seasons are bad, but season 4 years to the end are a real absolute mess. There are scenes cut, Big acts the show are excluded and they have a character on for a year and a half (Ray Pruit) who is a musician that we never see play. The most egregious one is that there's a 60s flashback episode where NONE of the 60s music is in it and it's *terrible* stock music I do know that some of the writers/producers have been trying to figure out a way to acquire the music rights, or cut some kind of deal to restore the episodes, but haven't made much headway.

Thinking about MST3K, couldnt they just release the audio track only for the "banned" episodes? That's what Rifftrax does for their riffs of major motion pictures (though the films Rifftrax does are easier to find obviously, but it shouldnt be too hard to find the original, un-MSTed films).

Loads of early Nickelodeon shows will never get any sort of physical or digital release not only due much of their content being made up of individual shorts/cartoons that were only licensed for initial airings but also because the network has little interest even referencing any show pre-YCSTOTV (and even that's lucky to get shouted out). Pinwheel was a cornerstone of Nick, and you could be forgiven for assuming it aired elsewhere given how little the channel cares about it.
