I’ve been watching the Boys, and it seems as if Homelander is the main character as he is the main focus of the show. What other shows are like this?

Pick any prestige drama, Sopranos, Breaking Bad, etc. On The Wire, Barksdale and Marlo got as much focus if not more some episodes than McNulty (no boy scout himself) and company.
Oh, Boardwalk Empire.

The main couple in The Americans, although there's shades of grey so will depend on your perspective if they're outright villians or anti-heroes. Or maybe one of each.

Betty was only nominally the main character in Ugly Betty. Vanessa Williams' antagonist character dominated the show.

Legion. Although we didn't find out he was the villain until the end of season two. that show melted my brain at times. Lucifer, cant get a bigger villain than the literal devil (even though it's revealed his brother is evil). |

For the main character to be considered the villain, I think you would need to contrast that strongly with a character who *is* good. Breaking Bad comes closer since the audience usually sympathized with Jesse. A show like The Sopranos on the other hand...of I'm not rooting for Tony, who am I rooting for? I remember really wanting to like the supporting cast, but as the show went on and they were all shown to be grossly incompetent sex fiends, I wanted everyone on that show to die. Too bad they killed off Doakes in Season 2, he seemed to be the only guy who had two braincells. |
