Here they are folks, the results from last week's Top Simpsons Characters countdown. Roughly 20 people voted and we got exactly 50 characters. Therefore, this will simply be a Top 50 countdown with no characters "who barely made the cut" being listed. I will also point out that I was surprised that certain characters weren't even mentioned. You'll find out who in the end. And without further ado, the results. 50: The Rich Texan Every television show needs a villain. If things go well, a second one is thrown in, sometimes to be considered the “B-villain.” And if said character is popular enough with the fans, he may even usurp the original villain as the show’s top villain. Enter the man known only as the Rich Texan. A member of Springfield’s Republican Party, the Texan is most known getting excited and shooting a pair of pistols into the air. He made his first appearance in $pringfield in one of the Simpsons’ earlier seasons’ episode, but it was only in recent years that his character started appearing more often than not. Things have gotten to the point where he was not only seen battling out with the show’s number one villain, Mr. Burns, but potentially taking over the role occupied by Springfield’s richest man. Or at least, showing up a lot more. Random note: According to the show’s creators, it’s debatable the Rich Texan was the previous owner of She’s the Fastest, the race dog who later mated with Santa’s Little Helper and gave birth to two dozen and one greyhounds.

49: Superintendent Chalmers Superintendent Chalmers: Depending on who you ask, Springfield Elementary is ruled by either Principal Skinner or Bart Simpson. But when you get right down to the bottom line, there’s only one man in charge and his name is Superintendent Chalmers. He frequently makes random visits to the elementary school and the biggest constant within his appearances has been Chalmers’ dislike for Skinner and the school. Whether it’s encountering students who have no idea what a battle is or having class after class of ugly children, there is very little about Springfield Elementary that Chalmers’ gets excited about. He’s even less fond of Skinner and never hesitates from shouting “SKINNER!” when necessary. Nevertheless, he keeps him around simply because Seymour knows all the children’s names. That and he is apparently dating Agnes Skinner. Random note: A certain Springfield Elementary student once mistakenly referred to Chalmers as “Super Nintendo Chalmers.”

Random note: A certain Springfield Elementary student once mistakenly referred to Chalmers as “Super Nintendo Chalmers.” Let me guess, that student was Ralph.

48: Marge Simpson A shockingly low placement for one of the show's main characters. Occasionally described as the thread that holds the family together, Marge Simpson is the matriarch of America’s favorite animated family. She appears to be a typical loving mother, but the former Marge Bouvier has become known for several things, most notably her tall mass of blue hair and her constant nagging, which results in her releasing her raspy moan. That doesn’t mean she’s never gotten into her own mischief, being a known alcoholic and gambling addict. She’s also been arrested on multiple occasions and has come close to committing infidelity. In the end, Marge is a devote mother who loves her “Homie,” never to give in to temptation and sleep with other men. Except for Glenn Quagmire. Random note: Matt Groening once explained that no character was allowed to ever have hair taller than Marge’s.

47: Herb Powell Herb Powell: Known as “Unkie Herb” to Bart and Lisa, Herb Powell is the brother that Homer never knew he had. It was revealed while Abe Simpson was in the hospital that he had a fling with a carnival worker before marrying Homer’s mother and fathered a child. The kid was soon shipped off to an orphanage and later moved to Detroit, where he became a millionaire. Of course, that all fell apart the moment he learned he was a Simpson. The owner of Powell Motors, Herb allowed his new brother the opportunity to design the car that ultimately bankrupt his company. And that car was known as "The Homer." Herb was left homeless, but later reappeared and made his fortune back after completing a baby translator with the help of Maggie and the $2,000 Homer got for the First Annual Montgomery Burns Award For Outstanding Achievement In The Field Of Excellence. He bought the Simpsons various gifts to show his appreciation, including a vibrating chair that shook Homer’s deformed sperm like nothing else. Random Note: Herb thinks people want cars named after animals, like Jaguars, and not Gods like Persephone.

46: Martin Prince Every school needs a nerd. Well Springfield Elementary has several of them, and the number one nerd goes by the name of Martin Prince. The sometimes friend/sometimes enemy of Bart, Martin is almost seen as the complete opposite of the Simpson boy. He decided to name his pairing with bully Nelson Muntz “Team Discovery Channel,” and has not had anyone sit next to him on the school bus since successfully lobbying to extend the school day by 20 minutes. Martin is often the victim of many school bullies and even once wore a “Wang Computers” T-shirt to school. If predictions are to be believed, Martin will seemingly perish in a science fair explosion, only to survive and build an underground chamber beneath the school to hide his scarred face. Random note: Martin is a big fan of the Springfield Box Factory.

Okay, that's it for now. I'll try to add more later today. In the meantime, some hints:
- The goggles do nothing for him. - One of Homer's many crushes. - He married his own sister. - Hi everybody. - Arrr, matey.

45: Cletus Some folk'll never eat a skunk, and then again some folk'll, Like Cletus, the slack jawed yokel. So goes the theme song for the shortlived series about Springfield's favorite hillbilly. The father of at least a dozen children by way of his own sister, Cletus plays homage to the stereotypical trailer park resident. He enjoys time with his smellhound and loves roadkill for dinner. Random note: His last name has been revealed to be Del Roy, but on one occasion he was also referred to as Cletus Del Roy Spuckler.

44: Dr. Nick Riviera Dr. Julius Hibbert may be a good doctor, but he doesn't come cheap. When it comes to finding a doctor who is affordable, albeit, incompetent and afraid of blood, Dr. Nick Riviera is your man. Always the friendly guy, he never hesitates to enter a room with a jovial "Hi Everybody," which is often followed by a "Hi Dr. Nick." The Simpsons have had a many encounter with the good doctor, having gone to him for Homer's triple bypass and seeking "advice" for a lawsuit after Bart was hit by a car. Little do they all know is that Riviera is also fond of grave digging for human body parts. Unfortunately (or fortunately, depending on how you look at it), Riviera may never be seen again after being killed in The Simpsons Movie. Of course, with the way continuity works in their world, he may show up one day and everyone will pretend nothing ever happened. Random note: Dr. Nick Riviera was once an illegal immigrant and had to take a citizenship exam with several other characters. He apparently passed.

Oh man, I think I forgot all about Dr. Nick in my list. Guess it's time for me to turn in my degree from Hollywood Upstairs Medical College.

If I had voted it would have been for --
3. Johnny Tightlips -- Legs: Johnny Tightlips, where'd they hit ya? Johnny Tightlips: I ain't sayin' nothin'. Legs: But what'll I tell the doctor? Johnny Tightlips: Tell him to suck a lemon.
2. Frankie the Squealer Fat Tony: Now some unpleasant news. I have learned that someone in this room is a squealer. Legs: We've narrowed it down to either Johnny Tightlips or Frankie the Squealer. Frankie: Okay, it's me! I can't help it! I just like squealing! It makes me feel big!
1. Fat Tony (surprise, surprise) Fat Tony: What's a murder?

43: Old Sea Captain Also known as Horatio McCallister, the captain can be depended on whenever someone needs to rent a boat. Unfortunately, he doesn't know what he's doing and doesn't hesitate to admit it. One of his earlier encounters with the Simpsons wasn't as a boat salesman or captain, but as the owner of the Frying Dutchman. Homer initially filed a lawsuit claiming false advertisement after being denied all he could eat, but the two worked out a deal and Homer briefly helped McCallister gain more business by playing the role of a monster with an endless hunger. Random note: He once saw the sun set at 3 p.m. on one of his many voyages around the world.
