heh rovers beat newcastle.... Sheesh, and yet the Mags wonder why the fans have been getting on them lately. If my team was getting beat on a regular basis, I'd be a little "vicious" too. It's embarrassing.

It's not too bad for Newcastle - their next opponents are only a little team called... Arsenal.
Oh.

I don't really believe that but still, it won't be a walk in the park if we play like we did yesterday...

Arsenal will kill Newcastle. Fat Sam is doomed.
Good result for LFC today. Personally I hope we get Forest in the FA Cup.

Newsflash: with the goal scored against Celtic, Filippo Inzaghi has become the best striker in the history of European Competitions with 63 goals (in 98 games).
Bayern Munich's legend Gerd Müller is now second with 62 goals (in 70-something games).
The mere thought of Inzaghi being the Top of any ranking (bar Worst Player to ever win a Cup, and Best Diving Cheater) makes me sad, angry and sick.
Inzaghi is ugly to see playing, can't trap a ball to save his life, is physically unable to score from outside the goal area, is a totally useless player unless he can somehow score, is either offside or on the ground.
And all these "qualities" notwithstanding, he's UEFA Top Scorer EVEEEERRRR.
This is indeed a sad sad day for football

Normally a draw at home for Newcastle wouldn't be the best result, but after recent form I'm sure they're happy with a draw with Arsenal.

Two stunning goals by Shully Muntari - Pompey are actually doing better at Villa than we did last week.

Liverpool are losing 3-1 at Reading - and this was supposed to be their "easy" game.

Crazy performance by LFC today. Taking off players to "rest" them for the Champions League is BS.

Birmingham City 1-2 Newcastle United
4 points in 4 days. The momentum on the swing upward.
That was a tremendous game for Newcastle. They stayed on the offensive pretty much all afternoon and that goal at 90:00 to lead (and eventually win) was just what they needed to get back on track. (Nothing short of a miracle, too. I have never seen a goal like that in my life.) Watching the coaches and players celebrate like they won the League title was a thrill.
Seriously, I just don't know how Birm. City stopped some of those shots on goal in the first half. This game "should have" been a lot worse for them, but that goaltender must have had extra hands coming out of his ass to block them.
(It was kinda anti-climatic because when FSN showed a few words with the coach - before they aired the game on tape-delay - and he said they played well against Arsenal, I had to look it up on-line. "They played on Wednesday?" I thought. Then I get to Barclays website and I already saw NUFC wins Saturday 2-1 against Birm.)

Arsenal will kill Newcastle. Fat Sam is doomed. Good result for LFC today. Personally I hope we get Forest in the FA Cup. Arsenal will kill us in the FA Cup too. Adebayor hat-trick most likely. Still, it was a nice 3-2 win on TV against Wolves yesterday. 6 TV games, 5 goals in every game. Meaning the televised Arsenal game will probably see us whooped 5-0. Still, I don't care about the Cup if we get promoted. Owen Coyle knows exactly how to get the best out of our players. 4 away wins in 4 away games now, 3 under Coyle. 8 goals in the last 3 away as well- 2 and 3 to the top and 2nd in the table at the time respectively, and now another 3 at Wolves.

Arsenal were absolute crap today, throughly deserved the defeat. All i can say is thank god the record went this week instead of next week against Chelsea, or Spurs in 2 weeks for that matter.

So Liverpool ended up winning big, and they qualify in second place, with a second round game against one of Real Madrid, AC Milan, Barcelona, Inter Milan and possibly (but hopefully not) Sevilla.

Liverpool were awesome tonight. Torres is absolute class. Unfortunately their first 3 games in the group have cost them top place so they might face someone like Real Madrid. Good.

Lehmann's back in for Arsenal tonight. If he puts in a good performance, things could become fun again with our goalkeeping situation, otherwise it's history for him and Almunia will be our #1 at least until the end of the season.

Three Manchester United fans have been stabbed in Rome before tonight's game - the violence between the two teams' fans continues.
