Three Manchester United fans have been stabbed in Rome before tonight's game - the violence between the two teams' fans continues. That makes me sick. I'm hugely passionate about football and whilst I have told certain supporters to "sit down and shut up" in pubs, I have never even fought of resorting to violence over it. People who do that make me ashamed to be a fan.

I wanted Capello over Mourinho anyway. Mourinho is good but he's a bit of a delusional freak

Plus Capello doesn't have any enemies over here... except those people who love sexy, attractive football. He won't be popular with Arsenal fans then.

Capello may not speak English or make his team play attractive football but hes a winner. He's won the league title at every club hes been at which should tell you something. And despite some bad decisions on his part (not playing Beckham) he made Madrid good again.
I welcome the appointment....if it happens. And the fact that he is a defensive coach means we will hopefully see the back of the tedious Frank Lampard/Steven Gerrard partnership. Well just Lampard really.

Anyway, I'm excited about it. I think, if he takes the chance, he can do great things with England. He has experience with people who are made out to be 'Primadonnas'

It will certainly end Beckham's England career - however, Beckham fell out with McClaren at Manchester United, and eventually came back, so anything could happen.

I dont see how the english public can honestly expect a manager to come in and change the team to make them world beaters. Sure in the league a manager can make good signings and build a team. An international manager has to make the best with what the country has to offer. And aside from a few players, England really are looking poor. Compounded with their lack of strength in depth I cant see even the best manager in the world making much of a difference.

For me, as long as we improve by qualifying for the World Cup, I'll be happy. I don't expect us to suddenly destory everyone and win all the trophies in the universe, I just want us to put effort into our play and at least TRY to win games and keep leads. I don't want us to be World Beaters. Just Good. Might not be good enough for others who live in the glory days of '66, but really, those are long gone and have been for almost 50 years.

I don't care how poor or defensive are play is, as long as we get to the World Cup thats the main thing. England missing out of the World Cup would be horrible, the Euros i can bear.
And i think Capello will stick with Beckham, its been proven that with Beckham in the team England were a lot better than without him. And i like to think Capello learns from his mistakes.

The FA has approved Capello's appointment as England manager, but he's not officially in yet, as there's disagreements over the status of Franco Baldini, who Capello wants as sporting director.

No comments from England fans on the new gaffer? (Fabio Capello for those who haven't read the news)

It was expected.
Anyhoo, Sky have made a balls up on an online ad for Arsenal Vs Spurs next week. They bill it as this...
WENGER Vs SPURS: P26 W13 D12 L1 RAMOS Vs ARSENAL: P0 W0 D0 L0
The last part should read...
RAMOS Vs ARSENAL: P1 W0 D0 L1
...as he was in charge of Sevilla against us at the Emirates earlier this season, when we won 3-0.

As much as it pains me to say it that was a good win for Spurs this weekend. Can't wait for tomorrow though, Ashley Cole comes back to Emirates for the first time and i will be there.
I'm sure the fans will listen to Wenger's pleas to not criticise Cole...... then again, maybe not.
Looking forward to Liverpool Man U also. Thankfully Liverpool come into this after an amazing performance midweek so this should be a good game. And i can see Liverpool winning it, possibly one nil.

Well, 3 more points on the board. I'm not sure it was a fair result given how the game went - I feel a draw was fair - but I'll certainly take it. These are the sort of games we should be winning, so any way to get the points does the job.
Puts us into the top half again thankfully, maybe we can push for those UEFA spots afterall. We have so much quality in the side but due to a lack of teamwork and a lack of a decent strategy we aren't making proper use.

I've been carefully avoiding this thread. I can only imagine what Square will say.
The ref cost us it, so biased and so inconsistent with his decisions. Fair refereeing would have led to us winning. Clear cut penalty in the first 2 minutes turned down. McCann's red card was deserved, and it totally changed the match, but had the ref done his job and whistled for the foul on him 5 seconds earlier it never would've happenned. Having said that we were still ridiculously soft in defence, clearly missing carlise. Steven Jordan is a left back, not a right sided central defender. Alexander was woeful as well.

Drove an hour and a half today to watch us play.....
.....only to be told it was cancelled due to a frozen pitch.
