Still, even if the story were 100% true, then WWE can go to hell for this "pay your dues" crap. Yeah, Lesnar, Lashley, Khali, Cena, Orton, and all those other would be "next Rocks" or "next Hogans" REALLY had to put a lot of time in before main eventing, right? My point exactly.

Yeah, ok. Where the hell did some of this "news" come from, anyway (i.e. Punk mouthing off, etc.), that it's suddenly now completely true? There wasn't a peep about it a few weeks ago, but I guess it makes convenient story fodder now. The wrestling observer. The story about Punk losing to holly was mentioned last week but I guess Meltzer only found out the reason this week.

Just to say, seen as everyone is saying that the Maria/Punk making out in Iraq stuff doesn't matter i just thought i would throw out that Iraq is a Muslim country, so if they were making out excessivly in public, not just backstage, they could have been thinking that it was disrespectful to the culture and some such, which, to be honest, if they were really constantly necking, it probably is. uuuuhhh, you are aware that Punk is employed by WWE, the same company that turns every culture outside North America into a stereotype for american to boo or laugh at!

I could have swore a "depush" is something like what happened to Shelton Benjamin....when he had major momentum at some point last year and then ended up vanishing from Raw (and sometimes Heat) for a few months.
I could have swore a "depush" is something like what happened to the Highlanders....literally breathing on the tag titles one week, and the next week they were just pawns used to stack the odds against DX.
How has Punk been depushed? I don't know. Was he ever considered (in storylines) to be a title contender? No. He's been on TV almost every single week. If he doesn't have a match (rarely), he has a promo/segment. So he loses a match??? That validates all these RUMORS (because we can't actually confirm ANY of this)? A lot of people have lost matches.
IMHO, Punk is just being....dare I say....humbled. Whether it's because he's developing an ego, or if it's just a business thing, I can't speculate. I do know that when a wrestler is being handed too much, too soon, the results can be disasterous. Only rarely do they work. Could it be possible that WWE actually recognized the built-in fanbase Punk already had to go along with new fans that are curious as to what the fuss is about and decided that they don't want to mess that up?
Lashley got one of the loudest pops of the year when he debuted. He wowed the crowd with his suplexes and his physique. There was something about him (at first)...so what happens? Within a year he gets several title runs. Now the fans are bored of him. Compare that to Goldberg. While people hate him now, several years ago, he was everyone's favorite (until he kicked Bret Hart). He debuted to a huge pop. So they had him go on a streak and he didn't get put into the main event until a year or so later.
I think Punk will be just fine. But since we (internet fans) know about Punk's capabilities and history, we consider him to be a title contender out the gate. Anything short of that is heat-related or a consipracy. We forget that WWE World is enclosed in a bubble. In WWE World, Punk's indy experience never happened. His cult-following doesn't exist. Fans are impressed with him because of his jujistu or whatever it is and not because they know him from ROH and TNA.

Dammit, another chance to come up with a fake rajah.com report on why Punk's in the doghouse and I got nothing. I should have held on to the joke I used in the "Carlito being punished?" thread.

Um, he's still winning matches.. the last two being just about the longest match on the respective broadcast, there's one loss to Holly, where's the de-push?

I think Punk may have a problem with the change from indy scene to giant corporate environment. In the indies, bookers/agents were open to creative criticism. After all, they were either younger or just doing it as a part time gig etc. Its not like Punk would suggest a spot to a ROH road agent, only to be chewed out for "not paying his dues" by someone who hasn't paid dues themselves. In the giant corporate world of WWE, you are expected to do as you are told. If you offer suggestions and don't have any clout with a guy named Mcmahon or Levesque, then you are a rookie that is trying to skip "paying of dues". If Punk recommends changing a spot or finish, he is given a stock answer like "we are doing what is best for the stockholders". (By the way the "stockholders" answer is being used quite often by good ole Jim Ross). So if Punk suggests that he wants lock on the Anaconda from a suplex reversal rather than the ref bump/anaconda combo planned by Arn Anderson, Anderson has too refuse his request because WWE stock will drop 15% the next business day. Makes perfect sense to me.

Punk needs to be careful, it seems like a lot of people are wary of him for one reason or another.

..Maybe "CM Punk" should be filtered. If a day passed without a Punk thread..the world would be a better place.

The over analyzing of every aspect of Punks career by the IWC is ridiculous. The truth is we really don't know exactly why he's pushed/depushed/wins/lose's etc.
All we here is tabloidesque type rumours and BS. We aren't in a position to say whether what's happening with him is right or wrong.

I'm sick of this whole situation. Frankly, I wish it would just go away.
Incidentally, here's what I think happened: There was some kind of conflict between Anderson and Punk, the Internet learned of it, and made Double A out to be a repressive, good ol' boy veteran. But wait--there's more. Since Anderson is ALSO an IWC favorite, there are members that are painting Punk as the cocky, egotistical new guy. Each group wants their side of the story to be accepted as true. The truth is probably somewhere in the middle.
But that's just my opinion on the subject.

I like how it's being reported that Punk is in contention in win the Rumble. I can't see this happening, but in another thread it says Vince is looking for someone completely unexpected to win, sepcifically Punk. What a depush that would be.
