It was actually against Dreamer. They were doing a half of a half of an ass attempt to rekindle their ECW fued. Are you serious? I feel terrible I wouldn't remember it's Tommy. Poor Tommy, he cares and gives so much and no one at Stamford could care less. Raven and Tommy in ECW was special, too. What a slap in the face when you think about it.

I was somewhat right
June 24, 2002 - RAW: Tommy Dreamer defeated Raven in a loser-leaves-RAW match.. Raven will be exclusive to Heat.. ~~~~Raven then tried taking over Heat over the next few months and referred to it as "Raven's Playground"......
October 7, 2002 - Heat Taping: Raven says that he's tired of being pushed around and promises to be more aggressive..
Late 2002: Raven does some stuff on tv for his proposed "Seven" storyline which never really got to take off..
January 13, 2003 - RAW: Jeff Hardy defeated Raven (Returns to RAW) to win himself an entry into the 2003 Royal Rumble.. January 20, 2002: Raven is officially released from his WWE contract (Raven didn't sign the "90 Day No-compete Clause") ~~~Raven was in line to possibly get a job on a writing team which caused other writers to sway towards Raven getting released..
So it was basically the beginning of the end of Ravens E run.

Also, I knew there was a reason I didn't really care for Jeff Hardy anymore but I could never put my finger on it. Now I know why.

I thought when he started in WWE it seemed like they would push him. Alas, they didn't. Although winning the Hardcore Title 27 times means he holds a record forever in WWE. Which has to count for something...
doesn't it?

I don't think WWE was too keen on pushing Raven to the moon anyway; I've heard tales that long ago, a younger Scotty Polo managed to "corrupt" a young dancing Shane McMahon by having him smoke weed or something. They probably had him there for the face value, but not to make a main eventer. His personal demons, as far as I know, were behind him at that point, and that was the only way they would take him in the first place.

What doesn't help is thw WWE's reluctance to let wrestlers use signature moves.
Wrestlers such as Raven, Tommy Dreamer, Lance Storm, Jerry Lynn etc.
They all failed miserably in the WWE.
Hell Jerry Lynn looked awful. They didn't give him a good introduction at all, and the crowd reaction to him (or lack of) brought a tear to my eye pretty much.

They screwed up Raven as soon as they added a raven squawking during his entrance.

In reference to the writing team thing, they actually offered him a spot on it way back when he was Johnny Polo, but they didn't want him to wrestle at all and just manage. This is why he went to ECW in the first place, he talks about this on the Forever Hardcore dvd.
Also, imo, the Raven character was killed when he was doing commentary on Heat with Coach, even though he was good at it.

Raven is my all time favorite and I really feel they didn't use him to his full potential. He was given the average hardcore wrestler gimmick. I remember his match from WM17 and I was pretty suprised he was in a WM match.
As far as his TNA run goes, I liked it a lot more than him in WWE. Now that he's in the condition he's in, I'm glad to see TNA is at least attempting to keep him on screen. And by that I mean showing him cane one of his team mates once a month.

I don't think WWF/E let him use the mic enough. He would of gotten over.

Well maybe giving pot to Shane as a kid might have affected his utilization in the WWE. Sometimes things like this screw the wrestlers over. Mike Awesome said the reason he was released from the WWE because of the grudge Heyman had on him when he jumped ships to WCW while still champion.

really?..i ddint think the se7en thing ever got started..what did he talk about? He talked about in a shoot interview. I don't remember all of the details, but it involved exposing a different Superstar for being guilty of a different deadly sin. The only guy whose name I remember being mentioned was Matt Hardy. Raven was going to break up Matt and Lita by showing Lita evidence that Matt might be guilty of Lust (cheating on her). Matt getting his revenge by destroying Raven in the blowoff match would have been Raven's version of getting shot by Brad Pitt, while killing Matt and Lita's relationship would have been the Jealousy part (killing Gwenyth in the movie). In the end, Raven would reveal that he did it all to cleanse his own soul. I remember there being a backstage segment with Raven spying on Test and Stacy (around the time Stacy was pushing the fans as Test's testicles), and then that Wednesday Jeff Jarrett is celebrating his first defense of the NWA title, and Raven comes out of nowhere, DDTs him, and steals the belt.

The only places Raven has really gotten to shine was in ECW and TNA, the flock thing in WCW was ok, but got old fast, and his WWE runs are nothing to even talk about. I think in order for him to really shine he needs a main event storyline, and he never really got one in WWE or WCW

They screwed up Raven as soon as they added a raven squawking during his entrance. No, it was when they had him pushing the grocery cart down to the ring with a fricken frankenstein mask in the cart..

I think the whole point of the Raven character is that he is a cult-like leader of lost souls. He had groups of disciples (Flock, Nest, etc) in ECW, WCW, and TNA. And with such, he got over in all three of those places. WWF/E never really let him truly be the Raven character. He never had a flock to speak of. Basically it's just another example of WWE saying "Hey here's an ECW guy, let's have him do nothing but bash people with weapons!" And therefore like what a few already said, WWE basically just had him there as a hardcore wrestler and not much more.

I remember the se7en storyline he had one interaction with idol stevens in a backstage segment on HEAT and I believe stevens pointed at Raven and then Raven broke his finger thats all I remember about it.

As I recall, when Vince saw Raven backstage, he was heard to remark, "Who the hell hired Raven?!"
