First..I'm not a WWE basher...I just simply haven't found the product very entertaining in years.
I havent watched a full WWE show in I dont know how long..but seeing as how I dont really have a grudge against the company or anything if a part of the company became entertaining again I'd start watching.
Reading through these forums I;ve seen a LOT of people put over Smackdown.
Are they right?
How do you rate it?
What are it's good points?
Low points?
Is the actual wrestling good?
How would you rate that?
Is it worth devoting two hours of my time to every week?

Smackdown's good points: Longer matches. More talented wrestlers as a whole. Simpler storylines that aren't attempted funniness gone horribly wrong. JBL, commentating god.
Smackdown's bad points: Batista seems un-motivated, and is the WORLD CHAMPION... Any time The Boogeyman actually wrestles. Ashley and Layla El are probably worse women's wrestlers than anyone on Raw. Their jobbers sometimes get random pushes for a few weeks then fade back away, mostly because they aren't confined to Heat like Raw's. Eddie-ploitation.

As long as SmackDown is on Friday night, I'm not going to watch. But from the spoilers I read, and the chatter I hear on this board, SD! has really turned it around.
If they moved it to Thursday like it should be, then I'd tune in, despite the fact that its taped.

And thankfully, Smackdown's lowest point in the Guerrero Feudin' Family angle, seems to have all but vanished in favor of a simple rivalry between Chavo and Benoit.

Smackdown is by far the best show.
Raw has little wrestling and horrible storylines. ECW has a terrible main event scene at the moment. Impact usually has like 4 minutes of actual wrestling.

Its pretty good. Probably the best televised product. 3 1/2 to 4 stars. Not near 01-03 levels but, still good. JBL's commentary. Kennedy, Regal and Taylor, Londrick, Finlay, Undertaker, MVP and Kane have all had great matches on there. The tag scene is alive and well. Batista is champ. Boogeyman feuding with Helms. Vickie Guerrero. Teddy Long's Undertaker fetish. Depending on whose in the match and the time given they are pretty good to damn good. Not sure what you mean. I'd say so.

It's not going to change your life or anything, but it's definatly WWE's best show right now. They actually have that thing....what's it called....you know, uhhhh...hmmmm.... oh yeah! WRESTLING! That's it, they actually have wrestling matches now and then.

I've been watching a bit lately (something back in november, and the Beat the Clock thing), and I have to grudgingly admit it's getting better... actually more enjoyable than RAW...
Good points:
*JBL is doing a GREAT job as color commentator. He's always putting over the guys in the ring, while being heelish most of the time. A nice change of pace from JR-King asskissing Cena and DX to no end.
* The undercard is solid and fun to watch. London and Kendrick are really good (and I don't even like cruiserweights), even Helms, Hardy and Yang are a nice addition to the show. It may not have a real direction, but at least the matches are enjoyable.
* The midcard is good too. Even the awful Guerrero drama is getting back to bearable levels thanks to the feud for the US belt.
* MVP is growing on me, but I'd still boo him... but it's fun
Now the bad...
* The main event scene bores me to tears. Batista and Booker have nothing more to say IMO. Taker is still looking good in the ring, but I'm honestly sick of him disappearing and resurfacing with the same "mind games" thing.
* I'm still on the fence with Kennedy... And sadly the rest of the upper midcard is meh to me, so I can't really look forward to something involving him and any of the current top guys.
* Midcard Titles are still not-so-important
If you can avoid reading the spoilers, watch SD! because it's definitely better than RAW, especially now that it's all about Cena and HandicappeD-X vs RKO

I agree that it absolutely is the best going right now.
-RAW's booking is predictable, the announce team is stale, and they ALWAYS push DX and Cena over everyone.
-ECW is too short, give people pushes out of nowhere who quickly fizzle out. There's also no actual long-term feuds cuz they don't have PPV's.
-TNA is great, but also too short and Don West is annoying.
SmackDown, IMO is perfect. Good talent and wrestling, Teddy Long is good as an authority figure, JBL's commentary is fantastic, and a good undercard. I like how they use their "jobbers", because on SmackDown everyone gets an equal shot to contribute. Guys like Vito, Tatanka, and Gregory Helms would be jobbing left and right on Sunday Night Heat.

Oh, so very right! Out of a glorious 10, 'bout a high 7. What are it's good points? The longer match aspect of things. It's a simple wrestling show with simple and not-Raw-lame storylines. Plus Finlay. Ken Kennedy. That guy needs to be pushed into a volcano. Is the actual wrestling good? It's the finest you'll get on free tv. With the likes of Benoit, Finlay, Taylor, London/Kendrick, MVP, Kane and 'Taker, it's a fabulous world. The wrestling? I guess 'bout an 8. They usually have the biggest scrub (Kennedy) in the ring with someone who can make his matches somewhat watchable. Is it worth devoting two hours of my time to every week? Sure. You don't even have to watch it when it airs and go through commercials 'n crap to save time. But for JBL's commentary for a lot of the crap stuff, he makes it entertaining.

I just watched the Kennedy/Benoit match from last week that someone posted, and after seeing that, and having seen Regal/Taylor and Londrick at the Armageddon PPV, I wondered aloud why I watch RAW (which sucks) and not Smackdown (which seems to be really good) and I realized that the reason is because RAW is on Monday and Smackdown is on Friday.

I'd say it's biggest problem is it's Main Event......I mean at least with Cena, it's fun to watch him get booed on occasion and be on the end of physical violence but with Batista & Co. it's just 'Meh'

The timeslot really does it for me. If the two shows were switched, I'd never watch RAW again.

NO Mike Tenay and Don West make Joekishi a happy boy.
Seriously smackdown is the best booked wrestling show on TV at the moment, and if you can't watch it on Friday.
there's always
dailymotion.com to watch some full episodes.
I'd say from GAB till about now is the best stretch of booking and the best part is the continuity in the storylines.

I feel the exact same way. Friday at 8:00 is just not a good time to watch wrestling, where Monday at 9:00 is a perfect time.
Hell, since they always wanna bring back stuff from the 90s, they should just try to redo the Monday Night War by getting Smackdown on a different network in the same timeslot as RAW.

SD is my favorite weekly wrestling show right now. There's more of a focus on wrestling, and whatever fluff they do have is usually kept to a minmum.

Yeah, Smackdown is getting its act together for the most part. - Benoit's back in force - The Bluebloods have reunited (excuse me while I mark out) - actual wrestling on a wrestling program - London & Kendrick - tag scene is reviving itself - JBL on commentary
