I know there's an official RIP Mike Awesome thread in WWE Current, but I got clearance for this one. Just go ahead & post about any of your favourite matches, etc. involving Mike Awesome. I'll start the ball rolling.
I loved it when Awesome attacked Kevin Nash in WCW. It seemed like they had big plans for him, but when part of a guy's gimmick is being big & he's standing up against Nash... well...
Not to say Awesome didn't do some great stuff in WCW (his match with Kanyon at Slamboree 2000 was excellent). But I think most of us will remember him for his ECW work, especially with Masato Tanaka & Spike Dudley.

I loved his sudden entry in WWF.
He runs up to Rhyno in the back hall of the arena, powerbombs him on a ladder, and scoops up the hardcore title (and puts Rhyno out for a year with a back injury)
That momentum was so killer, it's too bad they didn't capitalize on it.

I think that was in MSG as well, which made it even better

The week after Masato Tanaka defeated Awesome for the ECW World Heavyweight title, they had a rematch a week later that aired on New Years Eve 99. Mike Awesome won with a Sitdown Powerbomb.
While jumping backwards.
Off the top rope.
And of course, the classic Awesome moments. Awesome (WCW) vs Taz (WWF) for the ECW title at an ECW venue. The Tanaka feud. The Tanaka match at ONS 2005. One of my other favorites was when he stood on the apron with Spike Dudley on his shoulders in a powerbomb, then climbing the turnbuckle while carrying Spike with him, then bombing him through a table.

His feud with Tanaka was friggin' epic. One of the best ever. Their match where Tanaka won the ECW title is my personal favorite of their series. Amazing.

I like when he went up to the WWE Seamstress and told her on one side of his pants he wanted it to say "Awesome" and on the other side he wanted it to say "Awesome".

I loved the way he won the ECW beat by just showing up and pissing off Taz to get in the match. The double pin of Taz, beating Tanaka and then to see Taz kiss the belt, shake Awesome's hand was just an amazing moment.

His ECW stuff was great, but my favorite memory was the first time I saw him, as his masked Pro character that was a jobber in WCW in '89. On the mic, Jim Cornette said he looked like he was wearing a tube sock over his head. I always thought he was too big to be a true jobber. Little did I know I was watching a future world champion.

i have to say, seeing him at ons1 beating Tanaka was the best for me. not that any of his other stuff didn't cut the mustard, that match just was undefinable for me.

I remember in the early 90's when he was a WCW jobber he was being introduced and my sister, who was just walking through the room, said "Who's his opponent? Tony Terrific?"
Also, Awesome vs Muta. It used to be on youtube but I don't know if it still is. Fantastic match.

I loved his feud with Lance Storm in WCW in 2000 over the US title. Some good matches there.
Of course all his stuff with Masato Tanaka.
And I enjoyed getting to see him in MLW shortly a few years ago.

I wasn't watching ECW during his original run with the company, but his ONS match with Tanaka stole the show.

Him and Tanaks hitting each other with chairs was epic and cool.

I personally loved his entrance into Anarchy Rulz, when he won the ECW World Title. He had me as a fan from then on. I've NEVER seen a man fly like that with his height.
Seriously. Goddamnit.

I dug a non advertised, nobody knew till it happened PPV match vs Vampiro in late 2000. Vamp had been out a while following the attempted repackage w/ICP. The match had no build but was great. Awsome finished him off w/ an awsome bmb from the top rope witch ended up putting Vampiro out for the remainder of WCW's buisiness days

I've only seen his ECW stuff, but man, that stuff was amazing.
I remember the title match with Spike, when the whole ring was surrounded by tables. It was the first time I actually felt really bad for the guy losing.

it still hasnt sunk in yet that hes gone...i just cant believe it but as far as my favorite memories and matches
his matches with tanaka were legendary....i remember the one from heatwave 98 where tanaka awesome bombed awesome over the top rope and through a table and awesome landed square on top of his head on concrete...i swore it broke his neck but he shook it off like it was nothing
i also think the match he and lance storm had with edge and christian at invasion is very under rated and was a good match
another favorite/silly moment with awesome was his match against lance storm at new blood rising...the canadian rules match.....that was funny stuff....and i found it very entertaining...
