Awesome bomb on SHaggy 2 Dope off the bus, nothing made me happier.
really the guy was an awesome wrestler, who could fly, brawl, and throw some great power moves.
I really think he's rated just about right, as he was a damn good wrestler reguardless of his size. THis is just a HUGE WTF to me

it still hasnt sunk in yet that hes gone...i just cant believe it but as far as my favorite memories and matches his matches with tanaka were legendary....i remember the one from heatwave 98 where tanaka awesome bombed awesome over the top rope and through a table and awesome landed square on top of his head on concrete...i swore it broke his neck but he shook it off like it was nothing That was one of my favourite spots ever. I also enjoyed seeing Awesome dive from the ring into the crowd to hit Tanaka. There is something spectacular about seeing a guy his size, balance on the ropes before he dives that you just don't see every day anymore. He truly will be missed.

I gotta say his final match at One Night Stand was probably the favorite that I've seen of his. That or the Spike Dudley match. Man he tossed the guy around like a ragdoll...if only Mike Awesome could of been one of those right place at the right time kind of guys. He had so much talent. I can't think of anybody like him.

I loved Awesome's matches with Tanaka and Spike Dudley, like everyone else. I have the man's WCW action figure. I'm truly shocked he's no longer with us.

His match against Mastao Tanaka from ECW ONS 2005 is my favorite of his.

I'm a huge Mike Awesome fan. Have been since I was 16 and saw this match. He was and is a shining example of what a dink Vince Russo and Vince McMahon can be. How can you not get a guy who is this big, this agile, and this AWESOME over? He was a freak. A big man that could fly and flat out wrestle, and its a damn travesty that he was never used properly in the Big 2. I remember when my daughter was about 8 months old, i was wandering through the local KayBee toystore and I saw the Mike Awesome WCW figure for like 2 bucks. I bought it "for her"(though it was really for me mostly) and let her play with it, and for some reason it became a favorite toy of hers. Most of his mullet paint is gone cause she used to chew on it all the time. One of the first things I got her to say was "My Awtome" She still has it 5 years later. I never would've guessed he would go out like this. I don't know why he did what he did, but I hope it brought him peace. Thank You Mike.

you know i can't say i was a big fan of his but i do think he could've been big if...like what was said earlier he was at the right place at the right time.
I know people are probably saying "Nobody gives him credit until he is dead.." the same thing that was said here about Owen Hart, Perfect, Bam Bam...etc. But the thing is you never really realize how good some of these guys were until they are gone. Maybe its the fact they weren't one of your favorite wrestlers or something... i dont know where im getting at here but the point is its a sad loss and remembering the matches of what people have brought up he was a great wrestler that had tons of potential.

i have to say, seeing him at ons1 beating Tanaka was the best for me. not that any of his other stuff didn't cut the mustard, that match just was undefinable for me. QFT that for me...even despite the back turning and whatnot...that was a great damn match. Damn it all to hell for losing another one.

It's probably been said, but I gotta go with the time he put Spike Dudley through who knows how many tables during that one match. Excellent stuff.

One of my favorite matches of his is of his other matches with Hayabusa where he won the FMW Brass Knucks title. Glad I got that one on DVD.

Favourite Mike Awesoem moments -
The match he had at Heatwave 98 with Tanaka
His promo before his match with Spike at Guilty As Charged in which he happily talks about knicking Spike's girlfriends teeth down her throat. And the match that followed the promo.
Him and Raven winning the tag titles in 2000, and the match they had against Tanaka and Dreamer at the ECW arena before Living Dangerously 2000 for the titles (i think?) was incredible.
The title match at Anarchy Rulz 99.
and the Showstealer at One Night Stand 2005.

I'll never, ever forget the time when I was watching Hardcore TV one faithful Saturday night and witnessed Mike Awesome Awesome Bomb Masato Tanaka over the top rop onto the concrete. I was forever an Awesome fan from then on. Their FMW feud should be required viewing for anyone who's only seen their ECW feud, it's all gold.

The Tanaka-Awesome series was insane. I remember watching the New Year's Eve match, after the PPV, and still couldn't believe they'd give away that much quality wrestling on free television. It truly felt like a gift for being a fan.
I also loved the battle royal they held on Smackdown. It was during the Invasion or eles shortly after and Awesome ended up Awesome Boming Tommy Dreamer over the top rope and through a table. It was one of the last few spots that made me cringe that I've gotten from WWE and the last I can remember that wasn't a botch. I remember the crowd really eating it up too.
Finally, I haven't seen the ONS match, but the news piece after the even brought a smile to my face when certain wrestlers were complaining about the Tanaka-Awesome match and were telling the younger superstars that's the type of match to avoid having. Awesome made it known that he was retired and had no interest in returning, and from the reports I read it sounded like he and Tanaka just went out and did what they do, one more time.

Atsushi Onita, Mr. Gannosuke & Katunori Niiyama vs. Mr. Pogo, Mike Awesome & Hideki Hosaka
Barbwire Dynamite Swimming Pool Double Hell Deathmatch
Doesn't get much cooler than wrestlers being brought to the ring on inflatable rafts with motors.

I've got that match on video somewhere - it looks completely nuts, people getting back body dropped into this olympic sized swimming pool with bombs going off.
