I've said this elsewhere, but I'll never forget the jumping sitout Awesome Bomb from the apron through the table on the outside. And how Awesome, not Tanaka, actually took the brunt of the spot, gashing his leg in the process. It's on one of their matches on the ECW Pioneer DVD's, but I don't remember which one. But it was that kind of work ethic, the willingness to go through nasty bumps to entertain the crowd, that I admired in Awesome and in ECW in general.

I will regret never seeing this great man's ECW matches, only on DVD's that I am able to buy. I really felt let down when his WCW tenure went no where, seeing as he looked to have what any big man wished they had. R.I.P.

One thing I loved about the Awesome/ Tanaka match from ONS 2005 was that Awesome received a somewhat belligerent reception from the crowd at first, but went out there & had the best match of the night by a mile! Not only that, but he had completely won over the crowd by the end of that match!

Let me start by story by telling you all that I was twelve years old in 1999 (19 now).
I was in a seventh grade class that was very markish, all of us. We would have been Cena fans today. In a way, I understand how well WWE marketing works on a kid that age. One day my friend James was talking about ECW, and no one was giving him the time of day. But I really liked the guy, and I gave the show a shot.
The first match I ever saw was Awesome vs. Tanaka. No joking. I don't think I need to tell you that this match was enough to turn me into a fanatic in no time. I started buying every videotape I could get my hands on until I had a nearly-complete knowledge of ECW from 1995-1999.
Mike Awesome was chiefly responsible for turning me into a passionate, informed, LOVER (not blind follower) of professional wrestling. And now I'm f***ing crying over the guy, and rightly so.

even though people will flame for this...him jumping to WCW was unseen and led to a great match of WCW employee and ECW champ against WWF/E employee in an ECW ring and an ECW event
His fued with Spike and Tanaka as most have said will always be remembered
He will now go down in history as one of the best big men of all time but just wasn't in the right place at the right time bc had he been he would have been so much larger in wrestling
I didn't see his suicide coming and I think thats the worst way to go, when you hate yourself enough to off yourself
am I the only one who DEMANDS a MIKE AWESOME CLASSIC FIGURE in the NEAR FUTURE...JAKKS MAKE IT HAPPEN PLEASE HE'S EARNED IT!!! (an Awesome vs. Tanaka or Spike pack would do just fine too)
R.I.P. big man...go see your ECW bretheren Bam Bam in the sky
